- Warrior Cats has recently opened preorders for wave 2 of their plushies, but unfortunately it didn't come without controversy.

Guys, the problem isn't about how the plushies look.
The problem is that warrior cats were extremely dishonest and they showed us a prototype that looks nothing like the real deal, and attempted to play it off as what we were going to receive. I got these plushies because I thought they were high quality, and I was very upset to see that the product is not something I thought I was buying. The materials are different, the plushies look like they had less effort put into them. If I knew what it actually looked beforehand, maybe I still would have wanted them, but now I don't, because i was lied to.
If you need to use false advertising to get your product to sell, then maybe your product wasn't worth the money in the first place.

I even spoke to some plushie makers and they told me that the plushies are different in pattern and materials and other important things that determine quality, and that WC did people dirty with that preorder scandal.
Look, if they had to use cheap materials, fine, whatever, they have to mass produce anyways to accommodate the fandom.
But what they did was incredibly dishonest, and they should be giving the option to refund for people who preordered.
They have done this before too, and I won’t be shocked if they do it again. Unfortunately, I didn’t know the former until after I preordered
I'm glad I couldn't buy them when first released due to some kerfuffle with bank. The lesser quality really makes them worse in more way then one. The quality overall does.
So I'm glad, because I saved my money. I feel bad for everyone who can't even get a refund which was lied too however.

If that was bad quality, and didn't look too nice, how bad will these much cheaper looking ones be?? I don't want to waste money on something that will tear while sitting on a clean shelf

I’d rather try to make a homemade plushy that looks like a ball with eyes and triangles and tentacles than get THOSE overpriced hellspawn. Then again it would be a funny thing to have around to look at how dumb it looks lol.

I bought all three the day they showed up on the website. I saw how quickly they went last year and I really liked the designs, especially Squirrelflight’s. When I looked at the website two days later though, they looked completely different. My Squilf isn’t even red anymore. I spent $110 of my own money just to get products looking completely different from what I ordered. smh

I’m probably not going to ask. Even though they aren’t what I was expecting and obviously cheaper than what i thought, I still just really like the warriors plushies. The ones from last year looked kinda weird in the pictures too but look a lot better in person. I just hope it’ll be the same with these. I’d rather have ok plushies than none. Are they worth $100 though? No.
@@honeystream9499 I feel the same exact way you do. I decided to buy all three instead of just one after really debating over it, because they all looked so good. But then the quality dropped and I regret now not just buying my original choice, Brightheart. However, I’m also hesitant to cancel, because although I hate the cheap tactic they did, I still want official Warriors plushies because I love the characters. I agree that it’s definitely not worth the $110. I just hope the free gift surprise is good and not a bookmark ^^;;

Edit: Specifically plushies. I would absolutely love to see them create posters of actual scenes. Maybe even outsource the work to fan artists. Fans could create art and have it sold on the warrior website for publicity, and the artist could get a cut of the earnings.
I mean they don’t even credit fanart on there most of the time, I doubt they’d give the original artist credit.

@Zara Basantez The partnership would be only for things that could be easily copied; like drawings or 3d printings. It would help artists get their name out there. Artists could direct people back to their own sites in order to provide more options.
This isn’t an issue with them mass producing them, it’s an issue with how they rushed them out. A bunch of other plushes that are mass produced, like Pokemon plushes look great.
Honestly, I don't think this is even an issue of mass production. There are plenty of mass produced plushes that look great. This feels more like an issue of cutting corners and changing designs to cut costs, which, honestly, at the 30 dollar price point, they should be able to do better.
To be honest I’d rather buy a plush from Etsy or something because
1. More options
2. They would look better in most cases
3. It would be supporting a smaller business or just a person at home doing something for fun. I would be more willing to pay €100 for a plush made by someone working on their own than €30 for a large company making them

It looks like an orange tabby with *untasteful dirt stripes and a single paw dipped in a virgin margarita!* And those eyes. . .don't get me started. . . we need *REAL* Squirrelflight plushies, soft dark ginger with a single snowy white paw, with small freckles of white like snowflakes falling around her white paw, and forest green eyes. Now *that's* a Squirrelflight plush I'd get.

Can NO ONE see that all warrior cats is is a cash grab. The mass producing of the books that feels like it's most of the time rushed and drawn out plot. Ofc I am not surprised that they did a "180" on the warrior cats community, all the creators want is money even if it upsets some of the fans they know they'll still pay for it.

I'm not surprised. I stopped reading it a few years ago because I got bored and found better series. I did genuinely enjoy the fandom and universe though which is why I'm here.
This is why I don't bother buying anything like these plushies, and I just get the books from my local library free :D
Wait really? I thought the newer arcs or Warriors were interesting and exciting. I mean, yeah there's a ton of plot holes and other problems, and I can definitely see the plushies as a cash grab, but the books? Really?
It's a travesty that THESE are the canon plushies. There are so many people on sites like Etsy and deviantART that offer commissions or the availability of custom plushies for warriors fans. It bugs me that the distribution company didn't look into that. Isn't it better to enlist the assistance of someone that actually cares about the product? I would much rather support an artist and spend a little more and get something I actually like than those pincushion looking manufactured abominations.

just remember: warrior cats store is just a third party (Coolabi) and the authors/publishers dont really have to do much with them. They are a licensed partner as far as i know

Honestly, this is a horrible scam and a horrible response. I pre-ordered a SquirrelFlight plushy (because she's queen), thinking i was going to get an adorable plushy, but what i paid for turned out to be a disproportionate abomination. Im sorry if this sounds harsh, but coming from someone who bought a plushy, im distraught that what i spent my money was actually this and now how they marketed them as. Im just, horribly disappointed that the warriors team did this, and didnt even offer me and the rest of people who pre-ordered a single refund and just gave us some bullshit apology. Never again am I pre-ordering something warriors related unless its proven to not be a scam.

People haven't really been rude about it. I've seen more people being aggressive towards people who just honestly didn't know. Misgendering someone is bad, but if they don't honestly know that she is female, being rude about it just makes you come off as annoying. An edit: I understand that some people may be misgendering her on purpose which is 100% not okay, but so far at least I haven't seen anyone be rude

I've seen a lot of cat plushies get the muzzle wrong in some way, I think the designers and the people in charge of them think bigger = better and their equipment sometimes doesn't quite manage to keep the toy straight through production (I've seen a surprising amount of twisted muzzles on cat plushies, not a huge problem imo but certainly not intended). It's sad that a company could get it right but then chooses not to, I honestly would have pre-ordered one if I'd had money so I guess in this case, not having money saved me money since I would not want the "finished" versions.

I personally think they look fine, but I do think they are VERYYY expensive for a small plush of that quality, I just bought squirrelflight and she was almost 40-50 dollars, I do think muzzle looks a bit weird and I don’t really like how lifeless the face looks and how the tail looks but MAYBE just MAYBE if they get enough complaints they will decide to change them to better quality, we will see! :0

That's not really a conspiracy theory Akira, that's kind of how it goes in the business world. But no one will dig around for the fiscal calendar, so no one really knows about how investments, and businesses work, so....It's good you put that out there. Though I don't condone what the Warriors team did, I can understand it, as someone who follows the fiscal calendar, and know how stocks, investments, and that sort of thing works. It just makes sense that they would rush these out to get that good look to investors.
Fun fact it's why when Disney said they lost a LOT of money for quarter three, no one really talked about it, cause to the average American they look at something like Disney, and think "so what it's a multi-million dollar company" but to DISNEY to lose that kind of money because of COVID, means to lose investors and to lose investors right before the 4th quarter is....not good. For any business.
But Akira! This was the perfect apology! They used THREE exclamation points in the "We're Sorry!!!" subtitle! That means that they are definitely super duper sorry and not at all deceptive and scuzzy.

Another problem I had with these plushies-- after around a month of owning them, the markings seem to rub off due to the cheap way of making patterns. The marketing makes it appear durable and cuddle-able. But in fact they're so fragile you might as well keep them on your shelf to keep them at least okay-looking and not a solid color. In fact, my Graystripe plush is now a solid color with *no* stripes at all!
Me before the video: oh surely, it’s not THAT bad.
Me after the video: the muzzles looks like dogs’. Why. And I facepalmed so hard when they said Squirrelflight’s tail “is as squirrel-like as you would expect”. That tail doesn’t look like a squirrel’s at all! I legit thought that Squirrelflight was Redtail before I noticed the white paw. I’ve been a Warriors fan for years, and when even I can’t recognize them, then that says a lot.

What bothers me the most is how between the first set of photos and the new ones, there was a moment where both plushies where in the same set, there were photos of the red Squirrelflight AND the one with the flat tail (same with Brightheart and Ravenpaw). I think they were doing a bait and switch but yeah... the response was terrible and I hope the people who pre-ordered the better looking plushies can cancel their orders

Hey guys, I've been wanting to talk to you. There's been so much said about me lately; untrue things, completely untrue. I've thought of a couple different ways to share what the truth is, about the things which are being said about me, and about the incredibly unkind actions of some. Then, after giving it some thought and prayer, I've decided what I'd really like to say to you is this. People are putting words into my mouth without me even saying a word. They are calling me names based on what they imagine is in my heart, and it's not true. But still, they say it. I find it incredibly unfair, but as we all know, it's really common on the internet. I've loved knowing you, and getting to draw all of your characters, it showed me all of your amazing creativity, and has been a great joy and honor in my life. I love each and every one of you. Even those who hate me, and viciously attack me now. I don't hold it against you, because I know those who attack likely have suffered attacks in the past, and must be hurting deeply inside to be doing this to me. I'm also praying for you, because I want you to find joy in your life. Your life has extreme value, I really believe that. Do you know what God thinks of you? Before you existed, He thought, "Hm... The world wouldn't be complete without one certain person I have in mind." And then He created you. He wanted you to be here. He created you and knew you, even before you were born. You were created for great things, no matter what life feels like right now for you. You matter, and you are important. And I know that God is active and purposefully trying to reach you. I know because he's pulled me out of a crowd, and called me by name. It's really not about me, though. I'm not perfect. I make mistakes. I say the wrong things sometimes; but God, He is perfect. He loves perfectly, and is flawless. We may not understand sometimes why he does, or doesn't do something. But He is good, and He is the creator of the universe, and He loves you dearly. Again, you may hate me because of the things you've imagined about me. But I don't hate you. I love you, and I care about you. And I know that God pursues you. He wants to know you, and you to know Him. Not because you're perfect, but because He created you and He loves His creation. I'm just saying, if you ever invite Him into whatever you're going through, He'll come. and He'll help you. If you run from Him, He'll chase you for the chance to have a relationship with you, and a friendship with you. It's your choice, though. He won't force you. No one can force you. But it's nice that he loves you enough to never, ever, give up on you. Can you think of anyone on Earth you could say that about? He's unlike anyone else, and that is why I follow Him and I love Him. It says in the Bible, in the Book of Romans, "But Christ proved God's passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly." Not because we had cleaned up our act, but just because of His love for us. I hope you all find joy and peace, that your life turns out the way you hope. If I need to apologize for anything, it's that I'm sorry I didn't share more openly with you how much God cares about you.
Jesus gave up everything for the chance to welcome you into his family. I've never condemned anyone for the way that they live their life, even in my heart or in my mind. It's not my place. Someday, when I die, I will stand before the judgement seat of Christ. I'm responsible for how I treat people, and I have always loved you guys. He says to love your neighbor, and that is all I've done in this community. I've never cut corners, I love you. I still love you. And I love the people who hate me, because I know Christ died for you. My bottom line is, my goal in saying this is not to please people, obviously. Nothing I say can do that. the new one's muzzles remind me of the grinch, and probably they have stolen someone's christmas
I ordered a Jayfeather plush from an Esty shop a few years ago (whom I cannot find anymore, I would love to credit them if I’d remembered the name), and they were AWESOME TO WORK WITH. The plushie came with a magnetic stick with all of its claw markings sewed on and Jayfeathers pale blue eyes with his gray tabby markings were beautiful, the plushie was so stylized too, it didn’t feel like one of those corporate copy everyday cat plushes you can get for a few bucks. Then to see what the official plushies look like? It’s honestly embarrassing how horribly they are handling the problem, a business should not make mistakes which manipulate customers into thinking they’re getting a high quality product when they’re really not.
Okay, so, as someone who stopped reading the Warrior Car books just because they fell on the repetitive side, yet is still somewhat in the fandom, I swear that I thought the Squirrelflight plush was Tigerstsr (the evil one).
Im not too into the warrior cats fandom anymore, but looking at these plushies, something i wanted so badly back in day. its so disappointing, honestly.

What IS wrong is the total lack of quality of these plushies. Using the "cuddle fur" along with embroidery is one of the cheapest ways to make plushies.
We as the fans get to vote with our dollar. Support small artists who are doing there fandoms a service instead of the official merch which showcases "They'll buy it no matter what we make them"
There are SO SO many fans out there making quality merch all Harpercollins has to do is "Hey kid that looks good, we'll fund your next order just give us our royalty" and boom bam. Your supporting the fandom that supports your books AND making merchandise that we already know the fans will love.
There is a $40 pillow in there website for god sakes and all it has is "Warriors" on it in black ink.

rainpuppet Good point. I had only heard about their apology through screenshots, but I got the impression it was really bad and defensive. I avoided their content after that, but I had been satisfied with their explanation in their last video before going offline, because it was their last video and it seemed more genuinely addressing the problem, but it’s not my place to accept an apology to someone else.
I don’t condone their actions or their poor excuse for apologies that happened shortly after the incident. I just thought it was good of them to actually do some introspection on why they were so awful online and improve themself. I honestly didn’t follow the drama closely enough to be an authority on this so I’ll leave it at that. If I’m wrong, that sucks, but it’s not like there aren’t better creators to follow instead like Akira.
Dang it I wish I knew sooner! My mom knows that those three characters Squirrelflight, Brightheart, and Ravenpaw are my favorites so she pre-ordered them for me as a birthday present and I had high hopes because the prototypes looked amazing but just now looking at the final product I’m kinda disappointed but I will still be happy to get the trio of plushies when they arrive :T

I ordered a Firestar plushie and not even a week after I got it (which took forever) it's belly tore open!! I had it on display, no cuddling or playing with it at all!
I was very disappointed, please don't buy one, there are probably better plushies on Etsy or something. I do not recommend spending $30 or more for bad quality, not the best designs, and they're not durable at all. I definitely do not recommend, you'd be better going on etsy or making something yourself.

I recommend jelly cat if your looking for some good cat and other plushies, they can be expensive at times but they are actually worth that money lol. Aurora is another good brand.
I preordered the Jayfeather plush when the first set was announced. When he got here there was a huge "rip" down his side by his scar. Upon further inspections.. he just wasn't sewn properly in that section and the seam didn't withstand shipping.. I had to mend a plushie that I preordered.. I love the series and I love the characters we've all voted on for these plushies but I don't know that I will ever spend my money on merchandise from the official store ever again. I would rather pay a higher price for a product of higher quality than they're apparently willing to produce.

I'm sorry, where did the dark tabby stripes come from?
I was extremely confused when they said they had Squirrelflight but didn't recognize her at all. The prototype versions of Ravenpaw and Brightheart are so much better too. You can actually see Brightheart's white and orange tabby fur. The darker tabby oranges mixed with the lighter just as it's described in the books. Her wound looks old and healed up.
Where as the new version not only had the wound more fresh looking but the cheaper fur just makes it look like white and orange. No variation like in the original.
The fur difference in quality alone makes them all look bad. I was hoping to get some but after seeing the REAL quality, I'm glad my bank had it's flip flop forcing me to wait. Saved me from wasting money on a product I wouldn't get.
It's like purchasing from WISH where they show you one thing but the quality when you get it is cheap and looks as if a inexperienced plushie maker tried copying from the original.
Im not a fan at all of the warriors shop. i got scammed in it. i pre-ordered the jayfeather and when it was made available for order i NEVER got it.

To be honest, I just really dislike all of the products on the official store. I remember seeing the plushies for the first time months ago and cringing. I work in crafts and make and sell stuff online, and to see a product such below my expectations was very disappointing. I played it off as just me having high standards because being that making stuffed animals and such is somewhat in my field, I was just being petty. But my family members and close friends also agreed that the plushies were just plain.... ugly. The other thing is that it feels like they aren’t selling the right products. Like my favorite clan is skyclan, and in any of their products with several clan logos on them, skyclan wasn’t included. Another thing is their overpricing. I got a bootleg hoodie that had the design of the clans that I wanted (the official store didn’t offer it) for cheaper then even their regular shirts that was very high quality and I’ve been wearing it for years.
This is mostly me just complaining, but honestly if you want warriors mercy you can get much better stuff from outside organizations.
I’m not even a warriors fan anymore and this peeves me. It really reminds me of the stunt that Bethesda pulled when trying to sell that Fallout 76 rum “Nuka Dark”, advertising a product in a cool vintage-looking glass bottle. Then they showed what the ACTUAL product would be; a normal bottle in a plastic, tacky shell. Ridiculous, I hate seeing shady advertising to snag pre-orders.
Reinforcing that they look “wonderful” feels like the person writing it thinks that if they say it looks better, people will think it looks better just because they said so
Last year I bought all 3 plushes and the graystripe one after a day had the stripe almost completely faded and it took the support 2 months to respond and just said sorry. I tried again when the second round was up asking if I could get one of those and just got sorry back and the USA stock was sold out but the stock for other countries wasn't.

I REALLY wanted the Squirrelflight and I’m not her biggest fan. I was just so I’m love with how well her prototype was and seeing that the final design looks so cheap and low quality, I’m heartbroken and on the fence about it. If I’m going to be paying that much for a plush, it better be the best thing ever.

I was going to get these when I first saw them, but I was afraid something like this might happen so I waited to see what other people got. And I was right to be wary.
Don't buy the official plushies - hire an independent plush maker instead or buy one of their patents to make it yourself, can almost guarantee the quality will be better. Have a browse around Etsy and similar sites for good plush makers who've spent time honing their craft, not these cheaply made almost scam products.

I have a cheap 15 dollar plushie cat I got at the zoo and it’s super realistic and really nice. Way, WAY better than these cheap plushies. That’s half the amount for about five times the quality.
