The first seven licks in this video take us through the diatonic chords of C major.
👉 They can easily be transcribed into any key, so make sure to try them out over your favorite chord progressions.
👉 Applying what you’ve learned is a great way to lock in those new ideas.
👉 This will also help you move away from the ‘blanket approach’ of just playing one scale over all the chords.
The last three licks are great examples of altered, augmented, and chord substitution ideas, so there’s plenty here for you to sink your teeth into!

OMG you are so good. I wanted your opinion. pick or combo picking - or just fingers. What is preferred - or is it just personal preference. I, personally worked so hard to use a pick, I prefer combo picking but there are some licks that I can't just use a pick "Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel" you just need all your fingers (and yes I know that's not jazz :))

Wow... cheers from Canada....after using a Pick for 40 years it is very difficult to learn Finger Picking Style....help!!!
What exactly do you need help with?
What type of music do you play? Fingerstyle us extremely diverse and can be found in all genres with differences. The fundamental idea is the thumb covers EAD strings.
Fingers 1-3 ( index, middle and ring) cover GBE strings. That's just a start, in reality fingers 1-3 may need cover some bass strings occasionally.

I play Classical, Blues and Jazz.
The right hand pinky generally isn't used.
