I totally messed up the sizing on an entire chest piece when I was making an NCR Ranger costume, from Fallout. I did a first template measure and then neglected to test fit through the -entire- process. Got to the end, and the thing dangled down to my mid-thighs. I couldn't even shorten it, because I had already put everything else on to scale. Ended up two weeks before the con and I had to completely redo the entire chest piece from scratch. This time, I test fitted every part! Still wasn't perfect, but it was my first ever piece of foam armour. I love your work, though! Your tutorials are great. Keep making videos, and I'll keep comin' back!
Sorry, for all the comments on your channel all of the sudden, I just found your channel the other day and have just been binge watching your videos for my lunch breaks ;) I was wondering what bit you use on your rotary tool for smoothing things out? Yours look so smooth, mine always seems to get chewed up real easy if I am not super careful. Thanks for your videos and sharing your tips and tricks with the community! :)
I made a folding Crescent Rose from RWBY for a convention a couple of weeks back. Made it all the way there but as soon as I got into the con it started to break. My material wasn't strong enough so my bolts that I used as pivot points just tore right through it, and people bashed into the end spike causing it to collapse! Now gonna rebuild the whole thing out of a sturdier material, but its a good learning exercise as that was my first ever prop!
this is looking awesome so far! super excited to see the rest of the costume as it comes together! as for my own remaking experiences, I had to remake mercy's breastplate 3 separate times with 3 different materials. it was a stressful and expensive experience, but in the end I learned a ton and ended up with a breastplate I was super happy with!
Awesome video Zonbi! I'm working on a Shoretrooper from Rogue One and I'm going to have to completely remake my shoulder armor because I got the pattern completely wrong, and it looks all wrong. Both my bicep and my bracer armor pieces are close to being too small, which means I will have to make my shirt more form fitting. All of this will result in a less comfortable costume. I swore I would do it right this time. But hey, this is my first time actually foamsmithing a complete suit of armor.
i can't wait to see it done and painted!😃 i had to remake half of my Starlord's helmet. the sides were made using eva foam, but they were asimetrical, i don't know why since I used the same template😂 then I had problems with the tubes of the sides, i first used little cups that weren't so little after all, so I had to replace them with old photographic rolls (is that how you say it in english?). anyway, love your work, i just found your channel and I'm super excited running from one video to another! keep up the outstanding work❤
Had to remake wrist gauntlets for my cosplay 3 times because I kept carving the slant the wrong direction some how lol in the end I still scrapped them bc I thought of a different way to May it look that way with less bulk. ALSO! I feel like I commented this already but after watching guardians my little brother wants to have matching cosplay with me as rocket and gamora and I was thinking of not doing the jet pack at all because it might be too hard but hopefully I can follow along with you and be able to get it to look as good. Love your work Zonbi!!
So jealous of the skills which you have, wish i could be as skillful as you one day. Creating cosplay in the near future and You and Punished Prop's videos are helping me advance in my skills. Good job on your content. I also have an English exam in 9 hours.
I am awaiting Sintra to remake for the third time now chest armor for my custom Mandalorian. So no stranger to having to scrap and start fresh on big things
Kevin MacNeil same here. My last clan armor party had some scraps that I was lucky enough to snag so I can practice with. Hopefully I will make OM with the MMCC this year/early next year.
I had to remake a part of the gauntlets and hip pads for my Skyrim Steel armor. The hip pads where annoying, but it was worth it. I am still working on it, but since I need it done in four months I think I am in good shape.
20 hours into making the Dragonslayer from Berserk out of insulation foam my spray adhesive ruined the integrity of the foam and I had to remake the entire thing from scratch. Luckily it turned out amazing so it's all good!
im making a steampunk cosplay and when i was almost done with the wings i realised that they were to Heavy so a whole Days work had to be remade :( but in the end they look Amazing so im still very happy with how they ended up looking :)
I love your content. you give me so much inspiration. question for you agian lol do you ever have trouble cutting your foam? how do you sharpen your blades?
I have a problem with scaling my pepakura stuff-I just can't do it! I've had to make more than a few pieces more than once because of scaling issues, nothing worse than making a great looking helmet only to find it will barely fit on a Cabbage Patch doll!
ZonZonZonbi nice i love watermelon I'm working on my acient Jeanne Bayonetta cosplay at this moment your vids teach me alot gonna make the bodysuit look all beat up and do some burn distressing hopefully we'll run into each other at future cons
for me in my limited cosplays i find i rebuild a lot, even in a finished costume i tend to go back to different pieces and update/upgrade any part I'm not quite happy with... usually those parts are most of the costume :P
No one would have noticed..........that nagging thought that makes you wake up in the middle of the night and check and recheck pictures and your gear. I did similar thing last night, building X-01 Power Armor only realised I had glued one set of the knee joint the wrong way round AFTER I had contact cemented it. Top tip if you are tired stay away from attaching things that are a pain to do arrrgh!
I really like what you do, he you are amazingly creative. Maybe next time, donate the soap to a women's shelter....repackage in 2 liter soda bottles. Just a thought....keep at it, your work is inspiring!!!
Jet pack or no jet pack? How can you even consider no jet pack?!?Seriously though I always thought the Star Lord one looked like a couple of 1950s thermos flasks. Shame about the soap though, usually when I find cool containers I want to use in making I pour contents into another non descript one, besides you can never have enough hand soap especially when cosplay making, ideal for when covered in paint!
Really great work! Love it
Thank you so much!

I instantly gave a thumbs up on credit
Drax will say no jetpack.
#ChafedNipples
#DraxbrandNippleTape
LOL YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!
The details are great.
Thank you!
I laughed when you spilled the contact cement, even the greatest cosplayers make derpy mistakes 😂
Keep pushing through!! It's looking great so far :D
Thank you!

Aw thats awesome! I'm sure you learned so much using 3 different materials too. Happy your final product turned out great!
I was curious when you will be putting the chest piece and rocket pack together? Or any pics/videos of it completed?
I will be making this this week!

Good job on your content.
I also have an English exam in 9 hours.
Good luck!
The only way I started improving was by making things constantly! I know you can do it! Also best of luck on your exam!
I am awaiting Sintra to remake for the third time now chest armor for my custom Mandalorian. So no stranger to having to scrap and start fresh on big things
Heck yesss! I feel your pain. Best of luck friend.
Kevin MacNeil same here. My last clan armor party had some scraps that I was lucky enough to snag so I can practice with. Hopefully I will make OM with the MMCC this year/early next year.
What bandsaw do you use?
Working on my first cosplay atm, I had to remake my greaves three times before I started to get some feel for working with EVA foam. XP
I had to remake a part of the gauntlets and hip pads for my Skyrim Steel armor. The hip pads where annoying, but it was worth it. I am still working on it, but since I need it done in four months I think I am in good shape.
Sounds like you are working at a good pace! Great job!
20 hours into making the Dragonslayer from Berserk out of insulation foam my spray adhesive ruined the integrity of the foam and I had to remake the entire thing from scratch. Luckily it turned out amazing so it's all good!

I just recently had to remake the helmet of my costume which has over 80 individual pieces of foam
I love your content. you give me so much inspiration. question for you agian lol do you ever have trouble cutting your foam? how do you sharpen your blades?
Thank you! I use a sharpener to keep my blades sharp.
I have a problem with scaling my pepakura stuff-I just can't do it! I've had to make more than a few pieces more than once because of scaling issues, nothing worse than making a great looking helmet only to find it will barely fit on a Cabbage Patch doll!
I would have used the soap as hand soap such a waste but really love your vids zonbi
So true (on all three accounts). ;)
Thank you! When you make yours you're more than welcome to use all 4 bottles of that as hand soap. Heehee. Smells like watermelon!
ZonZonZonbi nice i love watermelon I'm working on my acient Jeanne Bayonetta cosplay at this moment your vids teach me alot gonna make the bodysuit look all beat up and do some burn distressing hopefully we'll run into each other at future cons
3rd world children could have eaten that soap.
have you tried using spray adhesive
Yes! It works great for some materials.
for me in my limited cosplays i find i rebuild a lot, even in a finished costume i tend to go back to different pieces and update/upgrade any part I'm not quite happy with... usually those parts are most of the costume :P
That's so cool. Once I'm done with a costume I rarely go back and upgrade it so you have more discipline than me!
wowwww

yaaaaaaaayyyyyyy bubble bath
Had to remake a Starlord mask base three times before I got the ears more proportionate
I have to re-make parts ALL THE TIME because i absolutely SUCK at working out what size things should be
so much wasted time and money... sighhhh
I had to remake a kunai knife for a cosplay because my parents accidentally threw it away :/
Looks good though!
The amount of times I had to remake Samus's arm cannon for my power suit almost drove me nuts lol
i am making raider power armor i had to rip off the whole stomach area because it was to bulky
I really like what you do, he you are amazingly creative. Maybe next time, donate the soap to a women's shelter....repackage in 2 liter soda bottles. Just a thought....keep at it, your work is inspiring!!!

I remade my Big Barda breastplate twice and then decided to build the breastplate from a sports bra. It worked beautifully. Awesome video again!❤
I'm glad your rebuild worked out for you thats awesome! And thank you very much!
