  • A heavy rainstorm dumped a massive amount of rain in just a short amount of time while I was riding my ATV through the river bottoms. What was supposed to be a fun day ended up being a race for time as floodwaters quickly approached my location from the north.

      The awareness and knowing conditions is what saved a bad ending. I kept looking and monitoring and at first glimpse, I bailed out. Once I made it out it only took 10 minutes if that to make that river impassible. Thanks for watching and your support. Have a nice weekend!

      I'll have to admit. I am super thankful I was monitoring conditions. It went from a sprinkle to a massive dump of rain. Thankfully I was only a few miles into my ride when I called it. Had I not been intuitive to the river, things could of went south. I will not be doing this again even if there is a sprinkle. I underestimated the strength of that storm. But the aftermath and seeing the river bank to bank with water was mind blowing especially since I was in it. When the real surge hit, I was out of the river at least 20 minutes.

      Hey bud. I am glad I can be a part of your lunch hour. I'll tell you the honest truth, I underestimated the rain that fell in a short time. It rained hard for 20 minutes and the river rose in less than 45 minutes. I am so glad I stopped to observe and turned around. Had I not there is no telling what the outcome could have been. Mother nature is mysterious, mean, and beautiful. But we should always respect her power. Have a nice weekend bud. Great videos by the way!

    Glad you made it out of there safe. Kinda tense there as the water was getting deeper. It is always good to be aware and cautious. I live near the beach and it can be hot and sunny and the rivers are cool and shaded but can rise quickly because of rain you can not see in the mountains far away, rivers are nothing you want to get caught in especially traveling alone but they sure are fun to explore remote off-trail areas. The new intro is great.

    • @ManzanoManATVAdventures
      @ManzanoManATVAdventures  3 года назад

      You are absolutely right about how rivers work. They are mysterious as they are to explore their remote beauty. A sprinkle went to a full blown hard rain into a river rising in less than 45 minutes. Thankfully I saw the danger and turned around when I did. Had I not done that I would have been swept downstream. I learned a lesson out of this. I am glad you enjoy the new intro. I think it came out looking good.
      I hope all is well. Take care and have a nice weekend.

I am glad I was paying attention and got out. This river is usually impassible except for about 2 months out of the year when water is being diverted into ditches for all the farmers. When this happens the water levels drop in this area.

You were so lucky to stop and turn around when you did, and I think you may have even thought about the water rising before you said it, b/c you kept mentioning how deep those holes were, then you sort of when silent.... and I do the same thing, it's you thinking about the situation. Anyways man, great video, Thumbs up from me, and I'm glad you and the Can Am made it out safe, Just a FYI: Can Am owns Sea-Doo so you could always trade the outlander in for a sea-doo watercraft haha Cheers buddy !

    • @ManzanoManATVAdventures
      @ManzanoManATVAdventures  3 года назад

      Hey buddy. I appreciate it. I am very lucky to have stopped and turned around when I did. My silence was processing what was going on and looking around. So I am glad I turned around in less than 3 miles in. Sensing the danger before the danger was there is what got me out safely.
      This time of year many of us get into the river due to its low hazards, until it rains and I learned my lesson for sure. I posted this video to hopeful have people think more about what someone might get themselves into.
      I will not be doing this anytime soon and I will stick to enjoying trail riding in a different way. I'll have to keep the sea-doo in mind for watercraft sports haha. Thanks my friend. Have a great weekend.

I’m wondering how do you know there isn’t a deep drop off/ pot-hole when you drive into the River? Pretty ballsy move buddy! I don’t think I could do that, especially being all alone. Thanks for sharing, and for throwing in a little drone shot just for me, lol.👍🏼☮️

    • @ManzanoManATVAdventures
      @ManzanoManATVAdventures  3 года назад

      Hey Pa. It was the spare of the moment decision to go for a primitive off trail ride. I grew up in and around this river my whole life and know where the deep holes and drop offs are. The holes and drop offs are near the banks where the main current runs. As long as you stick to the opposite side you are good to go.
      I do have to admit, it was a bit ballsy. I had a plan b the whole time and I am glad I didn't have to exercise it. But I will not be doing that anytime soon because we have had quick storms to move in and dump lots of rain in a short amount of time. I am glad you enjoyed the drone footage. Take care my friend.
