Solo Camping Under the Stars: Deer Steak and Scallops Over a Campfire

  • I head into the woods to enjoy a beautiful night of camping underneath the stars and to prepare some great campfire food. Being able to camp under the stars is something I love to do when the critters are not out in full force. After a windy night of sleep, I get up and make some coffee before I head out on the ATV to do some turkey scouting for the upcoming 2022 spring hunting season.

    Hey man ! Sorry I'm late to the party haha Nice camp set up ! loved the no tent thing. Wow that Surf and Turf supper looked delicious ! great stuff cooking with the garlic butter..... everything's better with garlic and butter haha
    I was going to ask how you slept, but you answered that for me haha that sucks and I know the heavy wind can really hamper your sleep. Always nice to meet your subscribers eh? I'm still a bit weirded out when they recognize me, but it ends up being great.
    Nice ride/scout video too, sure is a different country than mine but just as beautiful but in a different way. We have turkeys here in NB too but they are not native, im told some guy got some from the US and let them free so they are starting to get a population now, and they are thinking of opening up a hunt which would be cool. Love the call they do too.
    Cheers Buddy !!

      No worries buddy. Between my kids growing up, work, and just being busy I have been behind on watching videos and getting out more often.
      You got that right lol, garlic and butter is like bacon. Everything taste a little butter haha. I know what you mean, I rarely someone who is subscribed to my channel and when I do its cool and a bit weird. But you're right about it being great to talk to them.
      You're right about terrain and country being different. That's interesting about the placement of the turkeys you have there. Most animals we have are native here in New Mexico. The only import we have is the Oryx which came from Africa. They are a huge animal just like Elk are.
      Cheers buddy. Take care out there.

    You're a brave man not having a tent or cover of some sort, haha. I couldn't sleep out in the open here... so many mosquitos at night. You'd get eaten alive.
    Dinner looked good, even though I'm not a fan of scallops I do miss cooking on cast iron pans, especially ones that are seasoned well. (I'm not "supposed" to use cast iron anymore but sometimes it's worth it, lol!).
    Good luck on your turkey hunt! Gobble-Gobble!

      Hey buddy. Man, I hate mosquitoes lol. Right now this is the time of year we can get away with it. Otherwise we have horseflies to deal with and very little mosquitoes.
      Man, I hope you enjoy cast iron cooking when you do use it. I hear you man, either you like seafood or you don’t lol.

My brother in-laws father in-law, taught me how to drink scotch when we were in Edenborough a while back.. he is a North Scot and knew I was more into beer at the time. So he picked up his favorite. 80 shilling Ale. we nipped on that from 9:30am to 11am, before our brunch was ready... from what I remember, it was very nice.. now into whiskey more than beer.. but will always remember that 80 shilling. cheers my friend.... love going back and listening to older vids from you u tubers....

    So this is the outdoor exotic cooking and beer evaluation channel? ;-)
    Top-shelf wonderfulness there Ruben!
    Hey, I picked up my Outlander Max yesterday! I was so excited I didn't sleep well last night.
    It might be a bit before I get many miles on the ATV as it's in the teens and twenties here in NE Oregon, and I'm not fully recovered yet from the pneumonia I just had. But I'll get there!
    Turkeys? We get around 50 of them wintering around my house. That's too many as they leave droppings everywhere. I wish there was a year long open season on these blasted birds as they're everywhere around here. (Hey cougars, coyotes, bobcats, wolves, and foxes; eat more turkey!)

    • @ManzanoManATVAdventures
      @ManzanoManATVAdventures  Год назад +1

      Hey buddy. I am glad you are making a recovery and I hope it continues to go well. But on the other hand that is awesome you were able to pick up your Can-Am! Congratulations on your purchase. I imagine you are looking forward to getting some miles on it. That is cold, but manageable with the right gear to ride in weather like this. It's been a mild winter here and I plan on getting out on a ATV trip within the next 2 weeks. I have been busy hunting upland and migratory birds. I have had some luck with it.
      Wow, that is a lot of Turkey to hang around your home. But I can imagine the mess they make is a nuisance. To bad you couldn't harvest a few outside of season. But perhaps they feel safe there since they are not harassed by predator animals. Thanks again for watching..

    Great video. What happened to your Can-am Atv? I know you were having problems but hopefully that got fixed. That’s what I call roughing it with no tent. Hope you find those elusive Turkeys.

      The Can Am is out of the shop and running well. I have taken the Polaris to get it moving instead of it sitting for a long periods of time. But I will get it out in my next video. I hope to get one also and make something good to eat with it.

    Hell YEAH! A Manzanoman video with my morning coffee! Life is good! - - -

    OMG, that deer steak and scallop supper you made looked amazing! - - -
    I can't believe you didn't bring a tent for some wind shelter at night. You're a brave man - LOL - - -
    18:40 - WOW, you sounded like a real turkey - LOL - - -
    19:28 - Are you sure that wasn't a velociraptor print? lol - - -
    25:30 - looked like a nice spot to pitch a tent - - -
    Awesome video buddy! Thanx for taking us along!

      I know what you mean, tons of videos to watch this weekend. I am finally watching some this evening and catching up.
      Man, that was an awesome meal, I am not going to lie lol. I'll be making this again in the future. When I went to bed it was breezy and not bad, but overnight the wind picked up to like 40mph and that is when all chances of sleeping left haha.
      We are known for having some big wild turkey in New Mexico aka the velociraptor with a print that huge. That trail I took was super awesome. I will be back on it again for a better ride and film a deep woods ATV camp. Not far from there is a spring higher up in the mountains that I think I will hike to when I am out on that trip. Thanks for watching buddy. Take care.

      Man I love mushrooms and onion. I'll have to include this on one of my future camp meals. So I know what you mean. That is a bummer on the coffee there. I would miss the heck out of it also. Thanks, I hope to get in a nice bird this season. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend.

    So awesome!!! I have to ask, because I don't know, do you have to worry about all those pine needles laying around with a camp fire? Wow! My kind of surf n turf!! And a cookie breakfast LOL!! Never hunted turkeys before. Looks like it would be a good time!

    • @ManzanoManATVAdventures
      @ManzanoManATVAdventures  2 года назад +1

      Yes, you do have to worry about the pine needles catching fire because they are sap-rich fuel that burns fast. But what I do is create a fire line around the fire to keep it safe. Man I love surf n turf and there is nothing wrong with a cookie breakfast with coffee lol. Turkey hunting is fun. I love when they start to gobble and talk to you. They can be tricky, but they are awesome to eat. Thanks for watching brother.

      Yes it is the ready to go from Albertsons. It was my first time giving it a try, but man it's pretty good. I agree, we will have to ride at some point. That would be awesome! Take care and thanks for watching.

    What's up buddy! Man, your wife must feed you rabbit food when you get home! You eat too good out there in the field, haha. You're pretty good with that turkey call. That's a heck of a big turkey track. How come the turkey like to stay up in the elevation? Haha, the woodpecker hollar back.
    Can't help but notice that you're back on the Polaris again for this adventure. Is the Can Am down again? Or did you just feel like taking this machine instead? Always a blast visiting buddy. See you later.

    • @ManzanoManATVAdventures
      @ManzanoManATVAdventures  2 года назад +1

      Hey man! The old saying that says sometimes we eat better on camping trips than at home applies lol. Food just seems to taste better in the outdoors. Dude that was a massive turkey print. We can get some big ole toms in these mountains. I hope to seal the deal, because I'll be cooking that in the next video.
      The Can Am is running and out of the shop. I've taken the Polaris out just to move the fluids around and ride it also. Thanks for watching buddy!

      I still have the Can Am. I got it back from the shop and decided to take the Polaris out a few times to move the fluid around instead of it sitting for a long period of time. But I will be out on the Can Am in my next video. Thanks for watching.

      The outlander is back from the shop and running. I took it in for an antifreeze leak, other than that it is in full health. I decided to change it up a little just to get the fluids moving on the Polaris. My next video will be on the Can Am. Thanks bud.

      Sometimes its not all about the ride. Plus what happens off camera doesn't mean the ATV sat the hole time. Because if you notice, it's parked one way the night before and then a different way in the morning. I went for a ride and decided not to film it.

      You are able to ride with no problems. I had hoped to ride more but I got up to camp late. To get in a good ride and ride video takes a little time filming and night time coming in quick was against me. But man I love to ride and film. Next video that goes up will be a good ride. Thanks man.
