RUclips just needs to focus on making their streaming feature a lot better at this point to make twitch less of an option. Twitch currently wont die out because of its layout, because of its discoverability versus youtube's. Once RUclips does that, twitch will slowly die out
Seriously, RUclips would be so much ahead of the streaming curve if they just make RUclips Live a much friendlier UI experience. But still pretty sure they're more worried about competing with TikTok with Shorts than competing with Twitch. I mean Drake streamed to Kick. So if there's ever a golden opportunity for RUclips to take that next step. It's now.
I feel like that would be an issue too….RUclips can be just as greedy as Twitch and if they become one of the only streaming platforms, they can just make the same awful decisions but without Twitch there will be nowhere to go.
@@TehBananaBread It's obviously not a good thing, streamers will get paid less and will have to make deal with smaller budget for events. There's a post on Twitter stating that the "Simulcasting" rules were added to the ToS, implying it affects ALL users, including non Affiliate/Partners. Those that revoked their Aff/Partner to stream to Twitch and RUclips at the same time are no longer allowed.
GDQ too, they have so many midroll ads and sponsor images that are definitely above 3% of the screen. i would hate for this to cancel charity events like that
I think there might a different reason. Bigger streamers get so much money from sponsorships that they stop caring about internal monetization features like subs/bits and they stop incentivizing their viewers to use them. Maybe this is aimed to reign those streamers in a bit by making them more dependent on Twitch. I'm calling it: directly referencing external donation methods will be outlawed too in the near future.
Sure and that makes sense. It's a business. But they're doing it backwards. Make the sponsors have deals with you directly to allow them to sponsor someone, don't punish the streamer, use them to your advantage. The streamer has an audience, the sponsor wants to reach that audience, who is the middleman? Twitch itself!!!
this hurts all streamers really badly but it really hurts smaller streamers or streamers tht dont have a youtube following or following on another platform
@BanquetOfTheLeviathan fair point but twitch is still like THE BIGGEST streaming platform, and instead of letting the people who earn them money make money they try to pry that away 😭.
This scares me for streamer awards. Qt made the best event imaginable and it might be killed off by the platform that should be supporting her the most.
QT made an event because she was tired of RIGHTFULLY being overlooked, and ONLY managed to bring it forward because she dates the GUY who's video you decided to click on. QT will fall off the earth if they ever split, trust lol
Honestly, when comparing this to RUclips, the actual rules aren't great, but the clarity that they have put this forwards with is really respectable. I don't agree with the things that are banned, but compared to the vague handwaving and random prosecution of RUclips guidelines, i think i prefer this kind of communication.
I mean, do you really think Twitch enforces their rules in any more of a reasonable way than RUclips? Hell no. Both platforms punish people willy nilly and ignore creators who blatantly break the rules. Nor do they ever bother to explain why they cherry pick specific people to punish above blatantly worse offenders.
that's because people are forgetting that RUclips doesn't sell sponsorship deals. Ludwig's ads aren't mid rolls in the RUclips sense but branded integrations, RUclips doesn't sell those so it's allowed. try to put an adsense competitor in a RUclips video and that will be banned.
@@TheSkcube Right, I read the rule as banning automated ad integration. So, just throwing a random drug commercial in the middle of your video, like network television does, would be against the rules, but doing an ad read is fine, since that's an integrated part of the content.
@@justsomeredspy more precisely any adsense competitor would not be allowed on the RUclips platform, as that would be seen as circumventing RUclips's adsense platform, in the mediums that RUclips uses. For example, you can use an adsense competitor to gather affilliate links. You can strike a deal with a talent agency to arrange brand deals for you. All these are allowed as they don't compete with RUclips.
Thank you for breaking this down. A tiny bit that I want to add is that there are no more/less charitable takes on this. When a rule is officially announced in the ToS it can be enforced at any point in time and is already in effect, meaning if you choose to violate it you are living on thin ice. It's a pretty stressful state. That's the same for both Twitch and RUclips.
the thing that blows my mind is that twitch, a livestreaming platform, does NOT livestream any of this stuff. they could EASILY just go live once a month for an hour or two and talk about this stuff
@@ironboundfate but a video based platform that hides all their changes... well somewhere... makes no sense. they dont need to deal with feedback, but a monthly address livestreamed to the platform going over changes just seems like an obvious choice. right now the average person has no idea whats going on with the platform, and that information is not intuitive to find, which makes the whole thing feel shady
@@emi9643 I fully agree that a company with a good pipeline of information and an actively shown interest in the use of their own product would be great. All of it makes sense to me - 3% makes sense, I'm there to watch the person not the stupid advert getting in the way of the viewing. - Pre-recorded it a bit hit or miss, but I get why, it's to regulate adverts per se somewhat.
For someone that ditched Twitch for good ol' RUclips you seem to know more about the site than people who stream there. Im just happy to get my dose of the Mail of Moguls.

When he called him "some guy named brian" I had to pause and laugh. Shoutout Elon for ruining twitter otherwise Lud might have know Brian Kibler is a big MTG / Hearthstone streamer
I actually completely understand them wanting these rules in place, but it seems like the kinda thing you should do from the start, or not at all. It's too far along to make this change without creating insane turbulence.
I just really hope that twitch will get some competition soon (I guess Kick is closest). Because im tired of twitch doing whatever they want and not being scared of people leaving, because they know that people will come back...
I'm not familiar at all with the RUclips ad policy, but I would imagine that their restriction of pre/post/mid roll ads specifically targets embedding "commercial" type ads as opposed to "sponsorship" type ads where the creator actually does the ad read, hence why the latter are unanimous with modern RUclips videos. Would be the only reason I can think of that they allow it.
this could be the case of adding a feature that is not enforced. But when they want to ban someone for something else, they can call on this rule whenever they want. This is the creation of one of those old by-laws.
I am 100% on board with this, the less ads I see the better! Its so annoying when I go to watch content and its just soi gangbanged with ads theres no point in watching
This was inevitable. Eventually, *ALL* sponsorships on Twitch and RUclips will be curated by the platform so they can take a cut. I'm honestly amazed this didn't happen sooner.
Streamers are twitch butches. Amazon is losing money and the zero interest free money is over. Like every other people streamers get a haircut but they're super entitled.
The youtube guidelines prohibit Advertisor created ads, but the content creator can create the ad and run it if they are doing the voice-over/imagery themselves. You can't just (for example) run a commercial from Adidas directly as if it was a TV ad though.
Oh yeah. They also should start developing a science-based, 100% dragon MMORPG while at it. Since both are projects that just anybody could do. There is probably a wikihow!
The burned in display ads and audio ads are stupid, but the rest are fine and will definitely improve my time on twitch as a viewer. It is A PROBLEM that streamers and brands are starting to treat twitch like television, it is not and it should not be. 3% is a perfect size, maybe a little bit bigger, but you're overreacting about it. There's a small percentage of people that actually stream and will affect them and twitter is going crazy as usual.
Twitch essentially forcing creators to make them the middleman in all advertising is one of the best examples of “great for twitch bad for twitch users” yet
Honestly seems like a dope change as a viewer. I subscribe to people I like, and that was to pay them and get rid of ads. Then the ads circumvented that by just going straight onto the streams. I like this change.
If you have drift on your Nintendo Switch Joycon, you can cut a piece of cardstock paper to fit in between the thumbpad and the battery connector. The drift is caused by a weak connection in the sticks because the plastic is too weak and the stick loses connection. A piece of a business card inside will help support the stick' connection. All you need is a tri-wing screwdriver and a business card to fix your drift. It might void warranty or something but it's worth not having drift on your sticks. I did it to all of my joycons and not a single one has drift now. There's plenty of tutorials on RUclips if you want to try it out. 10/10 worked for me and a few friends.

Huh? Look at the options of getting sponsors with In twitch itself? There’s a freaking tab for it with many many options as well as bounty boards are much more in supply as well. Brand deals idk bout so cant as anything. Yes it’s all hidden but it’s there. But streamer has to be consistent tho
@@boines No company that pays worthwhile money is going to want to sponsor a streamer through Twitch if their advertising space is limited to 3% of the screen.

suboptimal is a pretty forgiving stance here ngl

If only twitch had some sort of platform to have those announcements and add a human face to it all. And people could ask questions and chat about it. If only...

Twitch never fails to disappoint me
Twitch never disappoints when it comes to failing
Why you guys always act like you are streamers? For viewers this is actually a good thing....... Less obnoxious burned in ads.
@@TehBananaBread It's not a good thing if it upsets the income of streamers.

I think Twitch doesnt want to be the biggest streaming site anymore, but doesnt want to just go down at the same time
that makes Twitch insane. No normal company wants to fuck themselves over like that.
@@fm.burbank8461 yep.
There's a post on Twitter stating that the "Simulcasting" rules were added to the ToS, implying it affects ALL users, including non Affiliate/Partners. Those that revoked their Aff/Partner to stream to Twitch and RUclips at the same time are no longer allowed.
Sometimes I think that Twitch actually cannot do anything else to surprise me, and then it just does
The gift that keeps on taking
Twitch seems to have come to the bizarre conclusion that creators are their competition.
God, it would be so crazy if the livestream platform did a live stream announcement
This is gonna hit critical role super hard if this goes through
Podcast format streams will be borked.
Oh damn you’re right
I wonder if that was their target all along…
GDQ too, they have so many midroll ads and sponsor images that are definitely above 3% of the screen. i would hate for this to cancel charity events like that
well critical role stream on twitch and youtube same time, so they just have to announce it on twitch side they moving to youtube
Jup so twitch can f the streamers over even more
So twitch getting jealous of their bigger streamers and want the cake for themselves, typical
I bet the people that left twitch last year are happy they left before things went to shit
Twitch is so impressive the way they seem to spit in the face of everyone of that uses their platform every couple of months.
@BanquetOfTheLeviathan fair point but twitch is still like THE BIGGEST streaming platform, and instead of letting the people who earn them money make money they try to pry that away 😭.

@@nickutzig1157 this is such a smoothe brain take
@Gwizz1337 This is bait, right?
I really enjoyed the most/least charitable take breakdown part, that was a great device and i hope it makes it into more mogul mails
*Next month:* Twitch now has fewer streamers.
*Twitch:* But where did we go wrong?!!??!!
You watch OTHER people play video games. Your opinion like this comment are irrelevant. You NPC.
So nice for twitch to give youtube a chance to be the main site for streaming 😊👍
the thing that blows my mind is that twitch, a livestreaming platform, does NOT livestream any of this stuff.
they could EASILY just go live once a month for an hour or two and talk about this stuff
Bro they would get eaten alive, and that format is only good for receiving and debating feedback, twitch doesnt do that. Ever.
But as you know by now twitch corporate is just shady, its been non-stop shit bagging for well over 5 years now with their decisions around the platform.
if this goes through, youtube, kick and rumble will try to swoop in for the biggest creators. which would be a massive shift and i can’t wait to see what happens.

You're right, this is a huge PR issue. If Twitch actually had a recent history of good changes, this wouldn't have been received so harshly.
The fact that you give a solution makes it a way better take! You make great formal content!
The move is looking better and better with every twitch announcement.
Because of his persona, it's easy to forget Ludwig is one of the most professional streamer out there, always keeping a keen eye on all aspects of the streaming / content creation industry.
Tbf it is kinda his job to know
Ludwig reading a tweet from Brian Kibler is the most unexpected MTG x Mogul Moves universes crossover. What a time to be alive.
When he called him "some guy named brian" I had to pause and laugh. Shoutout Elon for ruining twitter otherwise Lud might have know Brian Kibler is a big MTG / Hearthstone streamer

The irony of the banner ad in the League game being from PRIME GAMING their parent company
I actually completely understand them wanting these rules in place, but it seems like the kinda thing you should do from the start, or not at all. It's too far along to make this change without creating insane turbulence.
Seems like twitch is doing everything in their power to get people to leave
I just really hope that twitch will get some competition soon (I guess Kick is closest). Because im tired of twitch doing whatever they want and not being scared of people leaving, because they know that people will come back...
I'm not familiar at all with the RUclips ad policy, but I would imagine that their restriction of pre/post/mid roll ads specifically targets embedding "commercial" type ads as opposed to "sponsorship" type ads where the creator actually does the ad read, hence why the latter are unanimous with modern RUclips videos. Would be the only reason I can think of that they allow it.
Twitch isn't pregnant, but never fails to deliver. Deliver dogsh*t

Never heard this expression before, and it's fantastic
Good. I've got the popcorn ready to watch it fade away into the sunset.
Damn, hope all the twitch streamers have a smooth transition to RUclips
this could be the case of adding a feature that is not enforced. But when they want to ban someone for something else, they can call on this rule whenever they want. This is the creation of one of those old by-laws.
I am 100% on board with this, the less ads I see the better! Its so annoying when I go to watch content and its just soi gangbanged with ads theres no point in watching

Streamer awards to myspace. Banger move, just saying.
This was inevitable. Eventually, *ALL* sponsorships on Twitch and RUclips will be curated by the platform so they can take a cut. I'm honestly amazed this didn't happen sooner.
Does it happen in 2041?
Meh, maybe, I don’t see it happening any time soon tho
Streamers are twitch butches. Amazon is losing money and the zero interest free money is over. Like every other people streamers get a haircut but they're super entitled.
Enforcing this would be more expensive than the income you get from that.
@@OneCSeven how? Explain pls
The youtube guidelines prohibit Advertisor created ads, but the content creator can create the ad and run it if they are doing the voice-over/imagery themselves. You can't just (for example) run a commercial from Adidas directly as if it was a TV ad though.
Twitch forgets that they are only able to do what they do because of the creators
Don't give them the benefit of the doubt. This is exactly what people thought they were going to do when their ad system went live.
I think the 3% is a good number because if a sponsor has a logo for me to display that's like 15% of the screen my content will barely be visible
As soon as I saw them announce the change I knew there would be a mogul mail
Ludwig and Charlie should team up to create there own live streaming website.
Ludwig definitely signed a noncompete for the RUclips bag. It would be illegal for sure.
it's all fun and games until you realize how much proper bandwith costs
Oh yeah. They also should start developing a science-based, 100% dragon MMORPG while at it. Since both are projects that just anybody could do. There is probably a wikihow!
@Austin I. Been fan of Charlie, but i think Lud is the more level-headed of the two on this kind of stuff.
do you think ludwig has millions of dollars to burn?
