  • Finally got my bike started but it doesn't run well. Started with a 65 jet with clip in the middle. Moved the clip from the center to the bottom and it started, but runs poorly. Help me diagnose the problem.

    turns out the major problem was I had not removed the screw on cap from the spark plug (never knew it was a thing).. anyway.did it.. set carb as best I could and off we went.. fired up loverly,idled a bit fast,soon sorted that and now ticks along nicely.. a good day.. many thanks and good karma to you sir.. regards Paul

      Glad to hear you got it running. I have a very slow-healing shoulder injury and have not been able to move my bike up and down the steps to go for a ride. It's slowly getting better. I love the autumn time but am hoping to get a ride or two in before then.

      Is this really true?? I have issues with bogging and about to take the whole engine apart if I half to and trace the issue down. It runs and drives but nt carb sucks for me and for a 66cc it is so gutless. I got a new hp clone off of Amazon and it runs and idles so good but as soon as I take off and start to give it gas it's just so gutless it isn't even funny. I had to put old nt carb back on n in back to the horid idling and no bottom end or really alot of top end. It goes max down hill 28mph. I'm going to figure out this new hp carb and get it properly working will pry change het size to c if that helps any. I got the bike a second hand from a relative had bee sitting outside for 8 mo tha I had it running and cruising around an hour later lol. It does need some new gaskets on engine I know that because black oil drips into the case where the magneto is and that gets wet so wonder if that could b part of issue. I'm wondering maybe I have a shit piston too so I'm taking all apart replacing gaskets at the least and checking for any internal damage and I'm going to port it at that time as well while it's already opened up. Going to c if any of that works and if not I'm giving the bike away because I have no business having it at that point if it still does t work properly for me lol

    Late to the party but if anyone has this issue; make sure the magneto is not backwards. Magneto that is level with the coil, the key slot should be 1 o clock for top dead center.

      If I’ve never removed my magnet only changed the magneto and my bike has worked before is that something I should worry about?

    Has to be the magneto coil spark plug or the CDI. Same thing happened to me it was mind boggling but I changed those three and I can now turn the bike on by simply spinning the rear wheel from a stand

    I've had the same issue it's not the carb at all its the clutch adjustment take off the clutch cover remove set screw loosen the clutch cable from the little clutch bar.....push the clutch bar in to engaged position and push the clutch plate down at the same time while holding these two down have someone tighten the castle nut on the clutch plate replace set screw clutch cover and reinstall and adjust the cable....once u have the clutch set properly I'm willing to bet $1000000 it'll crank on the first clutch pop.

She's got spirit and she's making sure I'm worthy. 😄 It actually was running really good the other day. 72 jet, needle set one below center but then I shredded the small clutch gear for some reason. I'm thinking the clutch was set a little off or there was a bad tooth somewhere which had been slowly grinding away other teeth. Waiting on parts in the mail.

      @@ec5423 I made a new extended intake. Problem solved. I'm back to using a 70 jet (down from 72) and I've tried the clip in the middle, one above and one below. One above was too lean, I could tell that right away and one below made the response of the lower end kind of choppy and lurchy. In the middle seems to be best. I'm editing a video right now on the new intake I made. It should be up tonight or tomorrow.

    • @ChuckHaney

      You get poorer performance on the top end, but a longer intake increases lower end torque. Besides that I have no choice. There is no way to fit a carb on there without using an extended intake.

    the angle of your carb is too much ! in the Zeda Motosport books that come with the engine they say to dont go over 15⁰ angle for the carb

    • @ChuckHaney
      @ChuckHaney  2 года назад +1

      As I've explained to others (who refuse to believe me for some weird reason) much of what you see is camera parallax. The GoPro distorts the actual angle. With this hobby you can only take what others say so far, you really need to rely on your own experience. Zeta says no more than 15, many others say no more than 20, others say no more than 30. This problem was not the angle of the carb, it was too small of a jet (this thing wants a 72 for some reason, runs great now) and a slight air leak. It's working great now, or was until I shredded my small clutch gear for some reason. Waiting on parts. Thanks for the comment!
