    Hi Bjorn. I know this post was time ago but do you think you'll do a review of this EV? Even with it's charging limitations & range I think it's an interesting EV & even shines in certain areas (road noise, quality etc) compared with some today's EV's. When I saw you did a review on a Mitsubishi i-Miev I thought there was hope yet. Cheers Bjorn & thanks for your informative videos.

    The models being provided here will have Menekes (same as UK) as lower capacity charge points practically do not exist here any more.The smallest capacity installed here is 22kw. There is no adaptor required, the Menekes to Menekes lead will let the B type charge at 11kw from the 22kw points.

    A quick research on forums indicate that it has the (Tesla) single charger, that means 11kW max on three phases.

    I use an cable with ICCB, called Juice Booster for charging my B-Class at home and sometimes on longer trips. My car was delivered with a Type 2 charging cable for public chargers and wallboxes.

    Hi Bjørn. Looking forward fo´´to your review of the car. I got mine in the beginning of july, and I love it. It is my only car and I use it ever day. The car came with two charging cables. One was the regular 230V charger, and the other was a Tye 2 Mennekes cable, that fits nicely under the floor in the back. It's definately not a car that is ideal for long trips, but it fit my needs perfectly. I did however take it on a trop from Bergen to Oslo and back in August, which worked just fine since I wasn't in a hurry :)
    Again, looking forward for the review :)
    Hilsen fra Bergen.

    If this works, would charging work at the Tesla suppercharger? The interweb is also mentioning about retrofitting a 50kW DC fastcharger called "JdeMO"

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  6 лет назад

      no

    • @MarkGarnettUK
      @MarkGarnettUK 5 лет назад +3

      Bjorn is correct; no Tesla supercharging (same connector but the electronics not fitted). Charged from a Tesla destination charger, like any type 2 EV. The JedeMo is a thrid-party after-market retro firt of ChadeMo socket for rapid DC charging direct into the battery. Developed and available from a guy in USA. He is bringing it to Europe this year as kit that an advanced hobbyist or friendly garage to fit. Not cheap, and does not come with a fancy charging port (you pop the bonnet/hood and plug in under there) but would transform this excellent first-gen EV into a more useful car for longer distances (lack of DC charging means it only makes sense for certain use-cases - I am doing 18,000 miles per year but only because I have a consistent route that does not need public charging).

      I have one. It's still a great car. I drive around with wife and two kids and it does the job. Very comfy and good to drive. Negatives are high consumption and not suitable for longer road trips. We've driven Bergen-Trondheim with it a few times but it takes to long. As a daily driver type of car I would absolutely recommend it.

      +AArdy AArdvark It all depends on your driving needs. I've had my B-class since the start of july and I've only had a need (or rather a desire) to be able to quick charge once. And I use the car every day. It charges just fine overnight on a regular plug.

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 7 лет назад

      I much prefer the BMW i3 since it is more special to look at and better engineered. Granted the B-class can seat 5 while the i3 seats 4 and the cargo space is larger in the Mercedes, the BMW has a frunk & supports DC Fast charging. However the B250e is FWD while the i3 is a proper RWD car with better weight balance, so it handles much better.
      Keep in mind I do own a B250 (gas powered) and while it handles fine & gets good fuel economy the freaking Runflats are shiiieeettt.

      I think they were made from 2015 into 2017. The launch colours were white with blue side-mirrors/front-grill or blue with white side-mirrors/front-grill and big "Electric Drive" lettering (and ED logo) on rear door in the corresponding colour. Also made in other colours (without the lettering) but less common.

      But on the used market, a viable option for commuting, and around town. We live from two towns that are 15-20 miles (north or south) from our rural homestead. Its 96 mile range is just fine for our needs, and at less than 1/3 the price that it sold for new, the 2015 is affordable.

      I bet these batteries will last forever since no one is fast charging them and the tesla motor is set wicked low at 170 hp so you can not discharge them fast either.
