I think her little explanation for what it feels like to ride a horse, should be made into a bumper sticker. That was incredibly adorable. I love how imaginative kids are. That smile says more than any words could ever say. She looked like she was having such a great time.
she's such a little cowgirl😘 Fell off and still got back in the saddle She did amazing wearing all the proper gear this little cowgirls ready to Ride! I've fallen off 10 horses since I've been Riding and always got back on.. even though I could have died Had a mild concussion that's exactly why I wear a helmet still @ 22 always wear a helmet.. true cowgirl right there😊🐎
This is such a good hobby for kids. I think it's great there are riding schools with instructors that are passionate about devoting their time to these children. It makes such a huge difference! :)
This is a lovely pony with a great instructor and an enthusiastic kid rider. safety is stressed. pony is not super responsive but will go when clearly cued. many changes in exercises to keep the interest of the kiddo and some fun stuff just to learn balance. non horse people should not walk behind a strange horse. riders who are working with seasoned lesson horses always walk around the horse exactly like this. you touch their rump as you walk closely around to the other side the horse knows it's you simply moving to groom other side.
WOW! There are some unnecessarily rude comments on this video! Not to mention it was posted 4 years ago! This girl is doing the best she can just like any of us do when we ride. Everyone's riding lesson is a little bit different than yours will be. There's not necessarily a "right" or "wrong" way to learn to ride. She's on a very patient little pony. I'm sure if she's still riding today she's turned into a great rider. No one is good at riding when they first start. There's a lot to learn. Don't judge other people. You might make some of these mistakes too and not even realize it. Everyone was a beginner once.
I would say bitless isn’t bad. Sure I myself would prefer to use a bit, simply because it’s better to steer for those who steer with reins. But I don’t think bitless is worse. They are equally good and bad in their own way. It all depends on the rider.
Most people hating on this cute little girl & patient and lovely trainer have their facts wrong anyway! Yes, you most certainly can have a rider on when lunging, that's how most people start out when learning a new way, so the rider focuses on themselves rather than on keeping the horse going, just until they get a feel for things. Obviously, the instructor knew the horse and knew that it was safe for her to walk behind him as long as she told him she was there. You really should train your horses to get used to this, goodness forbid something happened. And the mounting block comments- Guys, I use a mounting block if the horse I'm riding is too big. Sometimes even if he's not. It's also easier on the horse since his weight isn't thrown majorly off balance, and the riders are less likely to slam on his back when they land. She isn't jumping at a canter, it's at a walk and it was a virtually flat jump, it will help her in future, which is most likely now, when she's properly jumping, since 1. She can get into two point. 2.She won't be scared at the sight of a jump. Sorry, got me angry. The pony is adorable though :3
I know I ride and of course people with more experience wink wink probably know some more than she does but that gives them no right to be rude u are great kiddo keep it up
Yes, like obviously the instructor knew the horse. I also use a mounting block, no matter how big the horse is we always use the mounting block. Although I don't know how experienced she is, she seems very good!
lol this is adorable. i came here because i've been booked to photograph a couple girls on a horseback riding adventure. So now I'm being trained to ride and I'm doing a little bit of self training at home, on youtube. :) thanks
I thought the girl did great, and she was enjoying the experience. I certainly wouldn't expect absolute perfection at first. The important thing is that she was safe and happy, I think that's a great way to learn, and actually, I think the most important thing of all is that it was a positive experience, more important than perfection, and the horse looked like he was doing fine with the experience, as far as I could tell.
Awww she's the cutest little girl!!!! To mean commenters: She so young and she's in the process of learning and remember when you guys were all like that too once?? And plus she's with a trainer :) Not against anyone just voicing my opinion.
I love how she’s vary easy going with the girl and how she’s not using a bit this is a vary nice and easy lesson this is how every lesson should be for beginners so they get a feel
Eve Simons I'm sorry I'm. begginer at horse riding I wasn't angry or being rude in that comment you can swear on the internet that fine but about such a small thing smh.
Eurtle Turtle if you keep your hand on the horse so he knows your there than it is saf-ER but, yes,if you can,you should always go in front of your horse.
Well I get that if it's like riding school because the owner would be responsible for the kids (and older) if they got hurt (at least according to parents). But I think if you know the horse and know they won't kick and/or let the horse know when you're behind him it's totally ok to go behind. I usually don't walk behind horses unless I know them well.
+Gayle Lawrence she's right, though. The instructor is kind of patronizing and not giving constant advice. I'm guessing this is your child, and she's very good as a beginner, but the right instructor is very crucial.
+Gayle Lawrence have you ever thought that there might be a reason why equine addict has no content or no cover photo! They were just stating their opinion, you dont need to get all defensive!
i started riding at 5, and stopped for a while when i was 12, its been 2 years now , and i'm going to get back out there :) i cant wait.! this little girl is so cute, good job :D
I never walk behind a horse or pony, unless absolutely nessassry. If I do walk behind them, I speak to them, give them a pat gently and let them know I'm behind them so they know what is up. And for my first beginner lesson ever(for English riding... I got put on a gynormus horse, wel when he bucked me off twice I almost gives up riding. But luckily I found the barn I go to now, and progressed so much faster there that now I'm jumping some small courses indoor or outdoors. And at barn I go to now, I started out with a pony. XD
Yep. At first almost gave up... When got bucked off... But now at barn I go to now, I fall off and just get back on. Of course there will be more falls in life, but that's what makes you a better rider! XD Now I could care less if I fall, then I was just scared cause was beginner that stopped for some amount of years.
Horse Fan19 I walk behind my horses. I run up to them waving my hands and Skip and do jumping jacks around them. I go under them and slide off over their bum. So when a little kid decides to run up yelling, 'horsey!!' they don't freak, just look at the kid like "hey, you drunk the same krazy juice my mom did"😂

from one trainer to another, ty ty ty! for having an actual beginner in ur video! if im looking for ways to teach the posting/sitting trot and canter basics w a beginner I dont want to see an well seasoned rider only!
The trainer brings me much disappointment. I'm sorry but sometimes you have to fix your hair while riding especially in a helmet because your head gets itchy.
Great job! I know I'm kind of late, and I'm new to riding, but for your age? AMAZING! Just remember not to automatically kick the horse, I would squeeze, and then kick if it's not responding.
The little princess did a great job at letting the horse know she's going around. Made sure the girdle was tight. The horse is underdeveloped though, all in all, wonderful training. learned on a quarterhouse and always my favorite......
Great job! It is especially important to introduce children to horses in a safe environment with someone who knows what they are talking about. Also even more importantly it is important to put your children with an instructor who uses positive reinforcement. A child in a negative situation with something as intimidating as a large animal can kill any desire to learn about horses. Cody McArthur
@jumpergirls Thank you Jumpergirls, and yes, a lounge whip is only an extention of your arm - it serves to drive the horse forward and should always be held in the hand pointing towards the hind quarters. It is usually not necessary to make contact with the horse.
She is really good c: She's also lucky she had her first fall when she was young. I was riding since I was 4 and just had my first fall about a month or two ago. For a first fall, it was pretty bad. I couldn't ride without trembling up until last Monday! I hope she keeps riding, she'll do very well!
@gothshadowreaper It's actually a safety item called Peacock Stirrup Irons; made specifically to RELEASE a caught foot to prevent a rider from being dragged by a foot caught in a standard stirrup.
Hi ZoeLouise96 - you're never too old to learn anything and that goes for horseback riding. I've taught beginners as old as 60! You are at a perfect age to begin. You can follow instructions well and be responsible. What you need is commitment and most of all....PATIENCE!!! Learning to ride doesn't happen overnight. Be willing to put in the time and be open to learning. You'll do just fine! Good luck! Let me know how it goes!!
You've got a very good horse riding instructer ;) That little girl is an amazing rider ; ;Good Job ;) And youre so right on walking safely behind a horse, my friend once spooked the horse accidently when she was walking behind and she literally got a back kick to her stomach -__- ..... not nice!
@lisapizza421 Good listening! You should be a Continuity Editor! We taped for over an hour, and yes, the footage with her lounging the horse was edited out! There certainly seems to be alot of confusion about the correct way to walk behind a horse; so tell me, when you are grooming your horse at a cross-tie or hitching post, how do YOU get to the opposite side?
@PeskyPonyLover I think you should address WHY your pony is bucking alot: does he need some retraining? better saddle fit? chiropractic work on his back? teeth checked? are you doing something unintentionally that causes him to buck? You really need to look at why your pony bucks. Good luck!
Just a heads up, the stirrups are on wrong. The rubber band should point towards the front of the saddle so that when riding, the rubber bit faces outwards.
cute pony! X3 Hmmm...but i do remember learning in summer horse camp(to try not to go behind a horse in case they are the stubborn/ spazzy type, or if they get frightened). Lol...i learned that when i in summer camp free rode(hacked) a very strong/stubborn challenging horse(Dawson) which wasn't for beginners, was bouncy, tended to randomly sprint off instead of canter, and had a habit of nipping(biting for no reason).
@cookiepony Thanks for advice! No, the little girl is not still riding :( nor does she own a horse. The horse's name is Silver and he's still teaching little kids to ride!
@brijayn Good question! You are confusing "beginner lesson" with " first lesson". Not the same thing. Riders are often classified as beginners for quite awhile. This girl had been riding for several months - she is still a beginner rider.
I think her stirrups are a little long but I totally understand if they can't go any higher as on my saddle the leathers are long and with them wrapped around the irons and on the top hole they are still too long. They are 53 inches long. I also saw that the saddle was slid way back so I think the girth should have been tighter. She did very well though for being a young beginner. She seemed very balanced
@Kidshorsinaround Pleasure :-) I can really tell you love it your so good at it! Do you just teach younger students or more advanced riders as well?? :-)
I really loved this video and I think that little girl is so cute and pretty. She is very smart with horses. I feel like one day she’s going to own a horse or work with a Horse or do something with a horse
I don't get why people are complaining. This isn't the place to be jealous. That is a saddle, it's called an English saddle. It's not western, deal with it. This was an awesome lesson, nothing wrong with it. I mean, that's above and beyond.. She's riding without a bit! So stop complaining about her riding style or about the fact that she's starting early in life.
I never had riding lessons just normal trail rides on other people’s horses, in camp when I was 12 I rode this handsome QH gelding and 15 mins the lady to,d be to trot but I never trotted before, she said it look like I already know what to do and my balance was perfect
@quarterhorseSiri The pony has a bitless bridle It's what we use with the beginner riders until they develop some balance, and independent hands/seat, so they're not pulling on the reins (and bit) for balance.
Riders and handlers are taught how to walk behind a horse safely. Horses will kick when surprised or caught off guard when approached from behind. Always do what the little girl in the video did: put your hand on thier side or back and continue all the way around the horse's behind. By touching the horse, you are letting them know you are there...therefore there's no surprise:)
This is just perfect! A perfect way to teach, and an adorable girl on an adorable horse! This place really understands both kids and horses!
I think her little explanation for what it feels like to ride a horse, should be made into a bumper sticker. That was incredibly adorable. I love how imaginative kids are. That smile says more than any words could ever say. She looked like she was having such a great time.
this is honestly so cute anybody being rude just needs to leave.
OMG that thing she said about riding on a chocolate chip cookie was ADORABLE!!!!!!

I myself am an equestrian and I completely agree!

This is impressive. Great job teacher Gayle...
My favourite thing about this is that they don't use a bit
I prefer hacamores there better for horses teeth my friend's horse lost his teeth from the not
Bit got to love autocorrect lol
Katie Hatton She just said that because a lot of beginners will be yanking on the reins a lot even though bit less is not better

Adorable, simply adorable. She is very cute. Looks like she enjoys this.Thank you for making me smile :)
Looks like a nice lesson. Good instructor, very kid friendly.
I absolutely love this video! Amazing teaching ! My 7 year old just started lessons and she loves it! 💜 Thank you so much for sharing !

I even started jumping on a lung line!
no thats sooooo not true you dont always have to use a mluting block she it not verrrrrry good !
cool i jump too !!
Really cool! I liked that ! Showing a real lesson with a beginner--actually as it goes down. Thank you for posting!
she is better than me when I was a beginner 😁 She is awesome
"it feels like im on a floating on a chocolate chip cookie on a river of milk," she is sooo adorable
Trainer- "ok, now ask him to walk."
Kid- "Walk!"
XD Most adorable thing EVER!!!

🤦♀️ Another 12 year old expert. Get off your computer sweetcheeks and go actually ride a horse.
Bro I was being nice hour hbu back tf off bc I was sayin how I liked her teaching method
everybody is commenting that the trainer is childish but she is working with a child please people
We watched your videos! Your ponies are lovely and you are a very talented trainer! Keep up the good work!
sorry I just started watching and I'm a bit shocked... did the trainor really appluade the kid for going BEHIND the horse?
chasirecat wonderland she applauded because she touched the horses hind so it didn't get spooked and kicked and that's the correct thing to do.
oh ok sorry I wasn't really watching I was more reading the comments. 😝thanks😅
Eve Simons I'm sorry I'm. begginer at horse riding I wasn't angry or being rude in that comment you can swear on the internet that fine but about such a small thing smh.

You seem like you're teaching her really well and looks like she's having a lot of fun. :) Pony is adorable too!
she is 1 very good little ridder!!
she's a beginner
***** your just jealous because she's better than you
Ha Ha you got that right XD
That is one of the most beautiful palominos I have seen in a while
this is so cute also were is this place
I love that there is a channel dedicated to beginner riding lessons, reminds me of when I was a kid.
My favorite color for the horse is black.
Axel Whiton I love dapple greys 😍
@@peachtokkii863 yes same i love gingers and dapple greys and black
Aw :) I watched my trainer teach some little kids on their first lesson and it was so fun to watch them start their equine journey :D!
At my barn I'm not allowed to walk behind the horses
Because they will kick you but if you touch them and go behind they won't kick
Like the girl did
Equestrian Life it depends where you ride, at my barn you are aloud only If the horse knows you are there, and at some places you can't.
Well I get that if it's like riding school because the owner would be responsible for the kids (and older) if they got hurt (at least according to parents). It depends on the horse, the horse i ride gets really pissy and kicks when u walk behind him but i know ponies who don’t care
What a patient trainer!!!!
why was she learning to jump when she can barely trot
Just wanted to put the kid on RUclips.....WHY THE HECK SHE PUT THE KID ON THE OTHER SIDE
allie price Normally beginners will walk over jumps just to get the feel of a 2point
"Riding feels like I'm on a chocolate chip marshmallow cookie on a lake with milk inside." That is so adorable!
Ik she's a beginner but for got sake the instructor is no better😂
Big words for someone who hides behind a blank avatar and no channel content!
They were just stating their opinion, you dont need to get all defensive!
yes, and the word is "troll"
hey this could take away subscribers so shut up!!!!!! People do things different and don't tell me i know nothing because i have a horse too!
This is 9 years ago, imagine this girl now! She's probably a really good rider today 🙌🏼
It dose not feel like being on a chocolate marsh mallow cookie
Yes it does lol
What does it feel like to you, Jeremy Edwards ?
For me it usually feels like a lot of kicking
She is little! Jeez that’s like saying a 3 year old should know square roots!
I miss horse riding
Same😢
She's a good rider :)
she is so adorable! and doing so well for a kid her age and just learning!

Whoah. Somebody doesnt know how to put on a saddle.
I know right lol
"Chocolate Chip Marshmellow Cookie on a Lake with Milk Inside"
How adorable and Creative!! =D
This girl could be good...if she had a different trainer.🐎
Sad But true
Well most instructors have a different way of teaching😡
Why?
I'm starting horseback riding lessons tomarrow and I'm twenty- five. It's never too late to learn something new.
Her heels weren't down
Her reins were very long could of done a knot
Her helmet did not fir
Ozzy and Me you have all of those points correct
you are correct
Ok obvious who gives a damn
Quick realease stirrups werent on her foot right either.
Ozzy and Me: 1 more thing, she isn't a champion rider.
The little princess did a great job at letting the horse know she's going around. Made sure the girdle was tight. The horse is underdeveloped though, all in all, wonderful training. learned on a quarterhouse and always my favorite......
I felt bad for the pony....
Maggie Lin he isn’t being hurt, and he clearly likes this as his ears are forward and he’s moving happily
I can't wait until I get my horse! Great job riding, keep up the good work!
Man, horseback riding is dangerous..

i'm a new rider and this video has really helped me thx masie ;D
Exactly!! Thanks for for your knowledgable input. Looks like many people agree with you, too!
Ya. She was good, but the saddle is to far back
@Kidshorsinaround Pleasure :-)
I can really tell you love it your so good at it! Do you just teach younger students or more advanced riders as well?? :-)
I really loved this video and I think that little girl is so cute and pretty. She is very smart with horses. I feel like one day she’s going to own a horse or work with a Horse or do something with a horse
that was so cute how he walked over the jjump, that girl is a natural!!!
wow she is awesome for being so young with the horse!! She is a true horse girl.
Thank you! I will try this next Friday, when I go again. Thank you again, it means a lot! :)
Aw she's cute and what a pretty horse 💕💕
@quarterhorseSiri The pony has a bitless bridle It's what we use with the beginner riders until they develop some balance, and independent hands/seat, so they're not pulling on the reins (and bit) for balance.
she is going to be an amazing rider some day. such a cute little girl! :)
Awww this is sooo cute brings back memories!
Very nice riding lesson. I think people who really know horses won't muck around going behind the horse the way she did.
the teacher seems nice!! im about to go into horse back riding :D YAY!! any pointers?? oh yea and nice little girl!!!
Hello! I know I am super super late! But I was wondering if you could do a western version of this?
