      Iris Hammond thank you. I love horses so damn much. When it comes to riding, I love riding bareback. The reason is because you feel everything that horse does. You feel every respiration as their lungs expand and contract. Every muscle movement. Every twitch. Every shake. Every step. You really feel it when they ascend and descend hills. People have the misconception in their heads that the most important part of a blind person’s perception is their hearing. This is not true. When it comes to working withhorses, the most important thing I can pay attention to is what I feel.

    • @micahgrauel8770
      @micahgrauel8770 4 года назад +14

      Iris Hammond oh. Sorry to hear that. Maybe you could have someone train your horse to get used to people riding bareback? It’s just a thought.

    As an experienced rider I felt kinda silly having to watch a tutorial on tacking a horse. I've been riding for 44 years. But I have always ridden western or bare back. I just bought an English setup and wasn't 100% on how to put the saddle together. I just have to say I love your attitude. You were specific in your instruction and extremely helpful. Thank you!!

    Hey everyone if you want to get a horse but it’s too hard don’t worry you’ll get there , hold on to your dreams and make it happen because trust me anything is possible.And I can tell most people that are watching this might want a horse and yes I’ve been waiting for years (literally) I have been riding since I was four, now I’m 11 and I’m still not there yet ,but I won’t give up,I will work hard get a good job and save up when I’m older.

      I thought that too, been riding since I was 4. Horse obsessed. But as soon as you get older and school/college/university gets in the way you realise you don’t have as much time as you thought you would. My parents aren’t horsey either so they couldn’t join me in my enthusiasm. As soon as you have to pay for bills and living yourself there’s often no money left for horses. I have a good job too. Not saying to give up on your dreams but don’t feel like you’ve failed if you don’t achieve it and get one of your own. There’s still lots of ways to ride frequently and you’d be surprised how many people need a hand exercising their horses. This is a cheaper option for you too.

I’m quite poor and we don’t own any spare land. I’ve sold a lot of my old things for money to save up for a horse. But it’s never enough. My friend has stables and I’ve asked her if we get a horse if we could store him/her there. She had not responded yet tho. If you have any tips to save up or how to train a horse please tell me. Even if your friend let you, you'd still have to pay for food which is super expensive (around 200$-250$ a month), vet bills (up to 15,000$), insurance (300$ per year?), tack (About 1000$ to begin with) and a farrier (Say 150$ every 8 weeks.) You must be prepared. And think about the downs, like what you'll do on vacation? What if your horse gets colic? Don't just jump right into stuff..

      PepperMint A horse is very expensive, yes. I never got one either and we were not poor. But I am glad now, because horses are a lot of work for a long time. Have you thought about offering horse owners to take care of their horse? Sometimes horse owners can’t ride for a while or as often as they like to. In my country, they sometimes looked for girls or boys to take care of their horses and ride them (if they were old and experienced enough). Also we used to hang out at our riding school and do free labour a lot so we could hang out with horses. Those might be alternatives that give you a chance to interact with horses outside riding lessons.

    In reality, your horse should be able to be tacked up from both sides. It's just tradition to do everything from the left side. There was a person who trained her horse to lead from the right side then the left.

    • @claireeventing
      @claireeventing 7 лет назад +15

      Jamie Hayden I didn't say my horse isn't able to be racked up from both sides, he is. I just said I always start with the left side

    • @jhaydenshorse5195

      Just Jumping I'm saying that in general. Tons of people only train their horse from left side and never from the right.

    Yeah, Claire Eventing keep making these videos, although 90% of people watching this video might already know every thing there are still a few people who have never ridden before and watch videos like this to get ready for if they do one day, and there are other people who come across daily problems.
    Also just because all the comments are from experts it doesn't mean to say all the rest of the 470,000 viewers are experts.

    Very informative video and you are explaining it all really good and clear!
    However, I do disagree with a couple of things. First is I think your saddle is a little too far forwards, the girth could irritate the horses elbow and the saddle is tilted a little bit backwards. This could also be because the fit of the saddle isn't right for the horse, but I'm guessing since you're an experienced rider you probably know that the saddle fits you and your horse.
    The other thing is that from what I've always learned, you tighten the bridle too much. The idea isn't to force your horse to keep its mouth shut, but rather as a guideline.
    Anyways, cute horse and so well behaved!

    • @charli.h3443
      @charli.h3443 7 лет назад +6

      I think the strap over the bit was looser than it looked because it looked like it could have tightened 1 or 2 holes if she wanted to

      i was thinking the bridle seemed a little too snug, but she seems to know her horse, and like you said, shes experienced as a rider and in tacking up that horse with that bridle. im sure she knows better than us about that specific situation

    • @emmaroberts3359
      @emmaroberts3359 6 лет назад +1

      the bridle was fine, it is made to stop the horse from sliding its jaw open and grabing the bit. search it up. micklem bridle use ;)
