I know this was 11 months ago but this really helped because i don't really know how to put a head collar on so this helped alot! Thanks so much Esme 😀
Thank you esme! I have been riding and been around horses for abt 4 yrs now, but I was terrible at tying up and putting a head collar on until u saw this! ❤❤❤
Esme, when I learned to lead a horse. My trainer told me to do big loops with the lead rope not small loops. Because, doing small loops was dangerous. But, your way makes sense.
Hi Esme can’t wait to see you tomorrow! Also I have an amazing idea for the beginner series, what about showing how to tie up a hay net and how to fill one up! Amazing video btw they’re really fun to watch! 🐎
This video is so helpful because on tuesday I am doing my first riding camp and I’ll be leading and tacking up loads of horse❤. Thank you for putting so much time and effort into your beginners series videos and all your videos
Casper was just like, “are we gonna do something? Why are you taking the halter off?? Oh your putting it back on.. why are you taking so long ?????” Lol 😂
I love this beginner series, when I'm older I really wanna get a horse!! You've really motivated me to get into the horsey world and I started volunteering at RDA after seeing your video on it! Thank you so much ❤️
@@chuckthebrindlepittie6820 Thank you so much, I only started riding recently and I'm so grateful to all the gorgeous ponies and friendly horses I've met and ridden ❤️
Hi Esme my name is catherine I'm12 years old and I'm a huge fan thankyou soo much for all the brilliant video's and also it was soo cool to meet u at the RDS in Dublin Ireland it was a dream come true thanks again😀
Thank you Esme; that was informative, educational, and interesting. I appreciate you going out of your way to demonstrate. I call it baler twine BTW, FWIW LOL.
Just a heads up never use a fresh peace of bailer twine because if horses do feel the need to run away the bailer twine won’t break and could potentially pull down the object that they are tied to which could cause a huge accident , so I like to either half my bailer twine or use a safety tie up loop ❤
I already know how to do this but it is still fun to watch!! It is so useful to so many people though so that’s amazing and I love that you make these types of videos! ❤
fun fact - the reason we mount from the left is due to when soldiers had swords, they'd wear them on the left side so it avoids hitting/hurting the horse with the sword as good as it is to keep routine and do things from the left it's also good to desensitize from both sides 'just incase'
Brilliant video esme love it ❤ this was exactly the way i was taught. Could you do a hacking video what to bring in case of emergency or maybe a grooming in order xxx
The reason why you handle horses on the left is because back then the knights their sword on their left side near there left leg and if they were leading their horses on the right they could have a chance of poking the horse with the sword witch could lead to serious injury. Hope that helped :DDD btw i love your vids Esme :DDD
I don’t know if this is right but I got told to lead with my knuckles upwards because it gibes you more grip- not sure if that us right? I learned a lot from these videos ❤
I got dragged to the feild by a 17.2hh horse and there’s a gate between the stables and the feilds and I got rammed into the gate luckily I had just rode him so I still had had my body protecter on
First comment first like I love you esme I am your biggest fan I am subscribed I love your videos I enjoy your channel your horses are great and you are lucky to do all those things ❤❤
I Never knew you should put a head collar on between the ears. Always been putting the top of the halter on over it’s ears, for symmetry and comfort reasons😂
Awww tysm it means a lot to me I’m the best bunny owner right now but instead buying we’re gonna lease and then in a couple months are going to buy. That’s what I meant but thank you.
The proper and correct BHS way to do up and un do and pop on a head collar is to use the left buckle we were taught this at college I have always done it like this since I was a little girl but worryingly there are a lot of people who use the grooming clip method and we were taught at college that this isn’t safe as it can make horses head shy and make head shy horses even worse
The thing about never having the lead rope is so,thing I always tell to little kids I teach one of the first things so we teach them the “dragonfly” which is having it like criss crossed with two “wings” on the side
It’s amazing seeing a big equestrian RUclipsr making videos for beginners!
I go to a stable where they don’t really teach you horse care so this series is really helpful to me!
Same!! She also is helping me lots!!
I never found a video so helpful because I don't know how to tie a lead rope this just helps me so much thank you Esme😂❤
It is not easy to tie a lead rope, even after learning a few times I still got confused. 😂
Amazing idea to make good videos for beginners! The basics are so important when you start with horses. Keep up the good work! 😍
Just got deja vu from your old head collar tutorial 😂😂
This is so helpful thanks esme ❤ love the kiwi colour on Casper and you .
I know this was 11 months ago but this really helped because i don't really know how to put a head collar on so this helped alot! Thanks so much Esme 😀

13:51 The way you tied up a horse will be very easy for me to remember because it’s quite similar to crocheting :D
Hi Esme can’t wait to see you tomorrow! Also I have an amazing idea for the beginner series, what about showing how to tie up a hay net and how to fill one up! Amazing video btw they’re really fun to watch! 🐎

Thanks❤
Your videos help me lots with my horse riding!🐴❤
Amazing your videos ares sooo much better than every other equestrian youtube chanels❤❤
The Military started doing everything on the left because they had sabers on their right hand side.
*sabres 😉
Why does this make me think of starwars 😂😅
Actually swords were on left side, because that is where you get it with your right hand.
And also you shake your hand with the right hand
Left*
Love these type of vids you have really put my into my riding careere and can't wait to see you tomorrow at redpost! ❤
esme your so thoughtful! also, i love the matchy kiwi 🥝😍 xx

He is such a beautiful boy. Very noble
I have four horses but I still just love to watch these
Hi Esme I have an idea for your beginner series, you can teach on any horse how to tack up and groom! Thank you very much for doing these! Xx
Casper is such a beautiful horse ❤
U are literally the horse whisperer Ella age 9 I can’t wait to read you’re new book!❤🎉
Just a heads up never use a fresh peace of bailer twine because if horses do feel the need to run away the bailer twine won’t break and could potentially pull down the object that they are tied to which could cause a huge accident , so I like to either half my bailer twine or use a safety tie up loop ❤
❤ these are great for less experienced ppl u are amazing ❤
My horse is the only horse who I’ve ever seen who “nods” at the flies, most just shake, but Casper does it to! I’ve never seen another horse do that!
Thanks for all your tips, I’m new to working with horses and theses lessons are very helpful
I already know how to do this but it is still fun to watch!! It is so useful to so many people though so that’s amazing and I love that you make these types of videos! ❤
FIRST!! ❤✨ I really want to get a horse in the future so this beginner series will help!!

Esme you should do how to jump your horse for beginners!
This was one of the most helpful videos ever! Thank you!!
I’ll watch this when I get my own pony( very soon inbetween November and march) 😄😄😄😁
fun fact - the reason we mount from the left is due to when soldiers had swords, they'd wear them on the left side so it avoids hitting/hurting the horse with the sword
as good as it is to keep routine and do things from the left it's also good to desensitize from both sides 'just incase'
This reminds me of my horse lol always nudging me with her head 😂 people say it’s rude but I think it’s just affection and a bit of character 🥰
I already know all u taught but i still love watching ur videos
