  • Enjoyed following these two huge 230ft long 300 tonne lorries which slugged 40 miles from Shoreham to Ninfield. Quite an achievement actually, especially with all the narrow tight turns and roundabouts to negotiate. The weight was perfectly spread and top marks to the drivers and all involved here.

    • @frankzilla4437
      @frankzilla4437 2 года назад +5

      @Janet Slicer The red framing you see is only to support the thing on its journey and distribute the weight,as for the cargo in the middle it looks to be some sort of electrical transformer not so sure on that but its typically transformer which are hauled like that.You can also see this sorta thing being done elsewhere around the world with the giant frames to carry massive loads.Hope this helps!!!

      The transformers job is to convert the electrical current down from the high voltage used on long distance power lines to the level needed for local distribution.

    Impressive weight Distribution looks like they were 2 axles short on both low beds which gives the road an extra 60 tonne to bear with against the road rules

    • @mikeprzyrembel
      @mikeprzyrembel 2 месяца назад

      Title reads 300 ton convoy suggesting that is the total weight including tractors and trailer. With 20 lines of axles the maximum weight of the trailer plus load in the UK would be 20x16.5=330tons at 2.06tons per wheel.

    Amazing going round the corrner. Am puzzled though why the second load entered the town last when it was the first to go up the road to the site. If the other one had got there first then it wouldn't have had to do all that reversing.
