This video is one of the songs from a one-man show that last December, in which they played 33 songs for about 3.5 hours. Last year, they toured 15 locations across the US, and most of the shows were sold out. They are a very popular group, especially in the US. The lead guitarist has composed over 130 songs, and the side guitarist has written the lyrics. There are no bad songs. They are a great group. Please enjoy.
Misa can also slap and pop and fingerpick, it just depends on where she thinks it fits into the song. Watch NO GOD live and you'll get an idea. Best rock band on the planet.
Saiki (not Miku) wrote the lyrics to "Hate?" She was pissed at all the husbands who cheated on their wives during the Covid pandemic, including the husband of a good friend, so she vented. The lyrics gave the song the mood and energy it needed.
Yup, and not just husbands who cheat. She mentioned the spike in infidelity in general. She wrote it from the perspective of a woman in a failing relationship. Her other inspiration was actually The Simpsons, She thought it would be fun to sing Bart's "I hate you" tantrum.
They do get even heavier than this song but they're fairly eclectic. I describe them as a modern alternative hard rock band. They describe themselves generally as hard rock but they want to define their own sound. It's a blend of many rock sub-genres, including metal, punk/post punk, alt rock, classic hard rock, as well as hints of jazz/fusion and some prog leanings. Yeah, I didn't expect that from five Japanese women in maid costumes, either.
It's amazing how Band-Maid has rewritten the laws of nature: Hate brings Love! 😖--->🎀--->😍 📢 RECENTLY ANNOUNCED 📢 -- The Warning, a world-famous band from Mexico, and BAND-MAID just completed their amazing 2-man, collab concert in Japan with the introduction of their new song, “Show Me.” -- BAND-MAID released a new song, "Bestie," co-written with Mike Einziger of INCUBUS! And yes, Japan is where it's at for music of all types right now. So much awesome stuff out there! The maids are my fave, because of their combination of great musicianship in each role, unmatched (IMO) songwriting and arranging, and a hard working really likeable group of women who love to interact and give love to their fans. And it's 100% genuine.
Thanks agin from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter 😄) This song was played in a big festival, Lollapalooza, Chicago last year with this quality and the audience got hyped.
Here are some other kick-ass BM songs, if that is the direction you prefer. I love all the ballads, the mid tempos as well, they truly can and do it all. - From Now On - Puzzle live - Rinne - Black hole = Moratorium - many many more all fantastic no clinkers- this to me is the most astonishing thing
Hell yeah man thanks for a great reaction! Sure, react to more Band-Maid. Someone already mentioned "From Now On" (instrumental) live, but I would start out with the the official MV. Personally I would add "Screaming" live, "Unleash" official live video, "Different" (live at Shibuya Eggman), and I would recommend "Don't Be Long" (instrumental) if only there was live version with better audio other than a few fancams.
Yes, 10th Ani. Haruna, Asami, and Midori were definitely there. They posted photos and some nice thoughts on X. They're in the concert footage when Kanami, Saiki, and Misa were walking around the arena. Kanami stopped a few feet from them but didn't spot them; she had her back turned playing to the crowd down on the floor. Saiki might have spotted them as she was running back to the stage because she smiled and waved at someone in that area. Some say Miyako and Fami joined the others a few minutes after the show started but it's too dark in the footage to tell who else was sitting there. Miyako and Haruna have been spotted at one or two other B-M shows.
Oh and I loved your comment that just happened to be right before the solos, " This song is resonating me even more than the prior ones ( paraphrase ); I'm thinking " Oh man just wait two more seconds, lol"
"Looking forward to the guitar solo". lol. How about a bass/guitar duel between Misa and Kanami instead?!😁🤘🤘 If you want to see where they came from, try "Thirll" , the song that got them going and saved the band.
More! I saw them do this live in a tiny venue. Standing right in front of the bassist, MISA. What a great concert that was--you have to see them live if they come around your area (they have done four U.S. tours, not sure they have ever played in Canada, but they probably will.)
Yes!! More... more ... more Band-Maid! hehe, you asked :). I play guitar (among the others) as well, they are special, thanks for the reaction and I look forward to the next one!
Japan is where it's at as far as rock and metal are concerned. There are so many great bands. BAND-MAID, Nemophila, Lovebites, Hanabie, Trident, and that's just a small sampling of the all lady bands.
Great reaction and review. Absolutely love to see you listen to more, much more, from the Maids. They are a tremendously skilled and versatile band that plays across every genre of rock music. 🎼 Next, how about an instrumental with some even better guitar work? - “From Now On” - OMV Take care and rock on 🤘🏼🔥🇯🇵🌏🎤🎸🥁😎✌🏼
You asked about the lyrics - usually the rhythm guitarist writes the words (she also founded the band). In this case it was the lead singer, and the hate is for a friend of hers' husband that cheated on her friend during covid. That's what I heard anyway.
Kanami is the lead guitarist. She writes and arranges the songs. The bassist, Misa, can use a pick, slap, or pluck her bass. Kanami will tell her where she wants each technique. Kanami also lets Akane, drummer, know where she wants double pedal bass kicks at. Akane has worked very hard to be able to give Kanami as much double pedal as she wants. These ladies are all very good friends and rely on input from each other to make the band better.
Have you done any "Nemophila" If you like the heavy of Lovebites with some excellent frye scream thrown in.. Check out their song "Rise". MV or Live makes no difference...
RUclips "reactors" by the nature of their job have limited knowledge of the bands they are reviewing, so in fact, based on two or three songs taken from different periods and albums, they cannot know or understand the essence of a band. Band-Maid has over fifty videos on their official channel, how many of them do you think this youtuber has reacted to over the past year? OK, I know... it's just job, nothing else.😐
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar Interviewer: What amazed me most about your play style is the changing of picking to slapping, and then picking again so smoothly. Some bassists may throw their picks away to slap, but you use the same pick when you change from slapping to picking again, right? MISA: No, I don't throw my pick away. I have become better as I practiced. For the recent 2-3 years, I haven't lost any pick. When you watch NO GOD (instrumental) - replay it slowly (playback at .25 at about the 1:40 mark) and you will see MISA switch exactly as she explained it in the interview. - ruclips.net/video/UGGILH6wjgk/видео.html
