@rogerchance9074 Aw shucks Roger, the Maidiacs are all one awesome collective. Tho come to think of it there are a couple who aren't fit to use the name :)
These ladies debuted this guitar/bass duel arrangement last year at Lollapalooza in Chicago and just shocked a bunch of folks who had no idea who they were. Even the normally dismissive Rolling Stone magazine conceded that they were the best rock show of the day.
@@_DriveTime well I knew they used it the night before, but that was also part of the festival. I had heard no talk of the duel happening previously in Japan.
Band-Maid are not human. They are angels with just enough demon blood in them to push them over the top. They are the only band I know that can make grown men cry. There is nothing else like them in the world of rock!
I'm 72 and I've seen and heard most of the great bands of the 70s, 80s and 90s. What can I say? Band-Maid are the business! Rock the way I love it. Individually and as a collective, Band-Maid compare favourably to anyone you care to name. I just want to stay around long enough to see them live.
10 YEARS together as a band. Hard to believe they just keep getting better. Write their own songs and the lyrics for this was written by the singer although most lyrics are written by Miku (rhythm guitarist) while most of the music is written by the guitarist Kanami (Mincho). The style is based on Maid Cafes that are big in Japan and where Miku used to work. They call the style of music and the way they look as the gap. The gap between cute and rock music. They are pretty unique.
Ten years of music, over 100 videos on YT and always working to do their best. BM shines in their live shows. Try the most recent live version of ‘Puzzle.’
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They aren't a metal band, though they do metal as good as anyone. Their ballads are also gold! They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. The idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
This was the 27th song of their 33 song set. Japanese female Rock and Metal bands are making all the best music for the 21st century - Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Babymetal, Hanabie to name some of the best but there are many more. I've been going to live Metal gigs since seeing Sabbath in 76 (and, among others, Zeppelin, Santana, Pink Floyd and Zappa over the next 2 years) but gave up on the genres by the end of the 20th century (probably Slipknot being the last original band I enjoyed seeing). Then I found Japan and all was right with the world again. This is from their 10th Anniversary concert last November - they played for over 3 hours and performed 33 songs - all while smiling and laughing and with this level of energy and not a stank face or a growl in sight.
You can never miss with a Band Maid song, others I'd add to the list are Puzzle live, No God live, Unleash live, Endless Story live ( the emotional closer from the same show as Hate?), Blooming MV, Bubble MV, Warning MV, Non Fiction Days MV Thrill MV ( their first MV and the one that saved the band from being dropped by their label). I endorse all other suggestions. Also their sworn enemies Band Maiko (their alter ego) - Secret My Lips and Gion Cho
These women can crush any male band. They are keeping rock alive while the Americans continue to put out mostly garbage. My new favorite song is [insert the name of the next release of BandMaid, Lovebites, or Nemophila song here]. They all keep getting better and better, while the Americans are busy saying, "Hey look at me I'm a rock star", all the girls in Japan are saying "I will do my best" or "I will try harder next time." Americans practice until "it's good enough", while all the girls in these bands, and other all female bands in Japan, are taking it next level!
Welcome to one of if not the best thing going in rock today, BAND-MAID, these Rock Goddesses never fail to deliver, check them out you won't regret it, cheers from Australia 👍🍻
Nice first reaction. As someone who grew up in the Western male dominated rock scene, I had similar reaction as you when I first saw a video of them in 2019.
@@90sGrungeFreak IMO here are the best lives of them to check out: Don't You Tell Me Play Domination Puzzle No God Real Existence Freedom Manners/Black Hole Unleash Endless Story (best emotional performance but hits harder if you are more familiar with the band). Best MVs (Mv better than Live) Dice Warning Influencer Shambles Bubble After Life Daydreaming Blooming Rinne
11 years and around 130 songs......the Maids have paid their dues ! BTW, they are dropping a new song on April 17 that was co-written with Michael Einziger of Incubus. 😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
Well..Few years now, the All Female-bands are those who are carrying the torch! Rock is not dead, it lives in Japan( Band-Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, Hanabie etc)and Monterrey, Mexico( The Warning) nowadays. These ladies are saving Rock 🔥🤘❤️
I hope that was just the start of a series of Band Maid reactions 🙂 Welcome to the MAIDIACverse, po! You might have noticed that at least the three ladies (Kanami, Misa and Akane) are masters at their instruments. Then there is the lead vocalist Saiki who is perfect for the Band Maid sound. And the last one Miku, you might ask?! Well, Miku is Miku 🎤🎸🧙♀: Our little pigeon 🕊, pure energy, fantastic backing vocals and harmonies with Saiki, some wonderful lead vocal songs and these days very good on rhythm guitar ... she wasn't able to play the guitar in 2013 when she founded the band. Wait until you watched her very special "Omajinai Time" (🪄 magic spell time) during their concerts (they call them "Okyūji" = Serving). You will get tons of recommendations for your next song and might already have a long list. If not, it's maybe because it doesn't matter which song you choose. There is no bad Band Maid song so pick what you like: Special live: Freedom (Live), Play (Live) and of course their latest "Don't you tell me" (Live), just release before "Hate?" Hard rock: Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV), Dice (MV), Shambles (MV) Varied songs: Corallium (Live at Shibuya), Influencer (MV) Very chatchy chorus: Choose me (MV), Alone (MV), Secret my lips (Live) Ballads: Memorable (MV), About Us (MV), Daydreaming (MV) Instrumentals: From now on (MV), Onset (Live) Miku songs: Sayonakidory (also acoustic), Time, Beauty and the Beast (sadly no good video) And finally a very special live performance: Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live)🍌 This is just a (quite) random selection of songs. And there is also a full Christmas acoustic concert from 2021... This is a deep "pigeon hole" with lots of fantastic songs. And later you might want to learn more about the band and their members. Ohrenje created some very interesting and professional documentaries about them. You will learn where the maid costumes (their battle armor) come from, how they formed the band, about Mikus "Omajinai time" and why we MAIDIACS talk about a "pigeon hole" and end sentences with "po", po! Have fun... Po
Band Maid has a huge catalog of music and play mainly hard rock but can play a large variety of genres. This was from their final concert of their 10th anniversary tour. In my opinion they are the best rock band on the planet. Watch DOMINATION live and then anything else. They don't have a bad song. They're my favorite. Check out Lovebites too, another Japanese all female band that will blow your mind. They're power metal, not rock per se.
Thanks for the reaction and comments. These ladies are FIRE!!!!! This is just the tip of the iceberg. They are arguably the best touring rock group today. Saiki (lead vocal) has the perfect rock voice. Akane (drums), MISA (bass) and Miku (lyricist/vocals/rhythm guitar) are easily the best rhythm section today and perhaps of all times. I consider Kanami (lead guitar and composer) the rock equivalent of Sergei Rachmaninov. To get the reference, listen to his piano concertos...No.3 in particular. Looking forward to more Band-Maid reactions going forward. Until then, Cheers!
A word of warning, there is more than one all female Japanese rock, metal, punk, in fact all forms of rock & roll out there, for you to discover. Most are next level, even in their earlier days. It is not an exaggeration to say some are insanely talented and despite mainstream radio in America and in the west in general abandoning rock, the lady bands from Japan have saved it. Band Maid, being an example.
I have seen them live twice in the past year. They are master showmen and everyone in the band kills it instrumentally. This one of the tightest bands you'll ever witness. "HATE?" was from their Tenth Anniversary Tour Final at Yokohama Arena. They toured relentlessly leading up to that final show where they performed 33 songs for over 3 hours. Their recordings are good, but their live performances are just that much better. Band-Maid has opened for Guns-n-Roses, will be doing a show with Incubus soon (they co-wrote a song!), and they are a huge, pleasant surprise wherever they perform. Check out Band-Maid's RUclips channel and start picking out songs at random. Band-Maid has something for everyone; they mix and match genre: Pop, Punk, Prog, Metal, Hard Rock, and even a smidgen of Rap and Broadway. They have a seemingly endless and diverse catalog of songs from which to pull a set list. Their extremely loyal fanbase identifies themselves as "Maidiacs". BTW: Members of Band-Maid do watch their reaction videos.
Japan has.a LOT of great female bands. Band-Maid is just the best lol. You have found a great band though. They can do all kinds of rock and incorporate it in many songs. Jazz bass, punk drums, metal guitar, etc.
Band Maid, best HR band in ages. Japan Rocks, Po! Big fanbase all over the World, but they have a sweet spot for us here in the US. Down the Pigeon hole we go, Po! 🦍🍌Great 1st reaction, Sir!
There are a number of great Japanese bands - mostly female, but mixed bands like Maximum the Hormone (the godparents of this generation) and Sokoninaru (very technical but also heavy but with beautiful harmonies) are definitely worth a listen. Outside Japan the band to see are the sisters from Mexico "The Warning" they are kind of little cousins to bandmaid and have been in touch for a while, especially during covid to keep their spirits up. They're great and putting on a show too. In the states most people think they're gringas so they have snuck in under the radar. They've been a band since they were wee kids. What singles these bands out from the USA and Europe is they're not ashamed to really put in the hours learning the trade. In Japan they have these after school activity clubs with sport and art etc. Girls gravitate to music and a bunch of old rockers are teachers and turn them on to rock. Actually real music with instruments and in a real band with their besties seems to appeal to girls rather than sitting in the bedroom making it on a computer. Several of their songs are trying to persuade those boys who live in their bedroom 24/7 to get out and find a life. They also all have a bunch of interests outside music. Why they are suddenly great mates with Mikey chan Einziger from Incubus because he's very much that kind of person, their joint single out on the 17th of April. Sharing the stage on May 1st in Tokyo.
Band-Maid has become my favorite band =) They are so talented and the guitarist blow my mind every time ! Please check out "Don't You Tell Me" Official Live from the same concert ! Thanks Brandon Nice Reaction ✌🤘🎀
They were the second Japanese Band invited to perform at Lallapalooza and they killed it!!! First Japanese band X Japan, the greatest metal band you never heard of. Band Maid has been touring the US since 2015!!!! What ROLLING STONE had to say: Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that. Fluctuating between hard rock, aughts nu-metal, and pop rock, each member of the quintet is a virtuoso in her own right with more than a decade of practice in Band-Maid alone. They lured curious onlookers into the fold when highlights like “Domination” and “Don’t You Tell Me” got huge reactions from the crowd, but it was the bass solo-versus-guitar solo duels mid-song that got the biggest cheers. This is what those guys in Guitar Center think their ridiculous riffing sounds like. Turns out it’s done best, and most effortlessly, by women in black-and-white maid dresses and frilly hair-pieces as they smile ear to ear. -N.C. Now 3 more bands: Lovebites - "Hammer of Wrath" Live Nemophila - "Revive" Live Rolling Quartz - "Fearless" studio MV and they are Korean They are all, all female BANDS!!!

what? we love women who rock. you could try The Warning, Hanabie, Lovebites, Nemophila, Trident, Marys blood and East of Eden too
BTW, this was at about the 2 to 2 1/2 hr mark of the 3 hour concert. They rocked it all the way to the end. They are incredible, you should check out some more of their Official Live Videos and Music Videos :)
If I may correct you sir, they aren't necessarily Heavy Metal. They are hard rock, punk, metal, alt, pop punk, prog. who use blues, jazz and other flavors to make our lives better. In short, their genre is Band-Maid (doing Band-Maid things). This is just a small sample of the hours of music and fun they have recorded over ten years. Explore more. I hope you will love it! 1148 views in 2 hours dude. you're on to something.
The Japanese metal/rock scene is the best in the world currently. Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila & Hanabie (all-female bands) + some others are extremely talented. You're missing out if you don't dive deeper.
Band Maid.. just one of several great female bands from Japan.... you can fire up anything live from Band Maid,. Nemophlia, Lovebites etc.... get ready for the best bands on the planet
This night, Asami, Midori and Haruna from the LOVEBITES watched this long live show over 3.5 hours from the seats of Kanami's side. Of course I was there too. 🤘
Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
Welcome to the fandom! I suggest these BM songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, Blooming, Influencer, Puzzle (live), No God (live), Onset (live) & Real Existence (live)
Band Maid is the best band in Japan, and a serious endeavor. They have over a hundred songs, and all of them are good. I suggest only watching their live videos, because they are best on stage. Favorite live songs are Daydreaming, Manners with Black Hole, Domination, the latest live cut of Play, etc.. You can never go wrong with these ladies. Domination, live: ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html
I saw BAND-MAID live last year, in Minneapolis. Including this same arrangement of HATE? It's astounding. I got to take it in the Kanami/MISA duel from about ten feet away. I have tickets to attend HANABIE. live in May. So, another suggestion: Try out HANABIE.'s "We Love Sweets" or "Otaku Lovely Densetsu" music videos. Try them blind. You'll not have heard the like of them before. Thanks for the reaction. Some grunge will be welcome, too. Subscribed!
i think we have a new Maidiac 👍😎😊😊😊 They consider themselve hard rock - with heavy influences from other genres, and they have their "nemesis" Band-Maiko for the calmer acoustic music and servings.
They have a few songs that venture into metal territory, but mostly they are in the hard rock realm and not so much heavy metal. They bring a lot of styles into their mix, including rock, pop, punk, funk, jazz and metal. For some equally virtuoso musicianship, but a lot more on the metal side, check out LOVEBITES and Nemophila. Also Hanabie, if you are interested in something even more different and fun as hell (very heavy, fronted by the world's most adorable angry little demon). The all-female rock and metal scene in Japan is about the best thing going in the world right now!
BAND-MAID consider themselves to be Hard Rock, though they have so many influences that they are no respecters of genres. Many of their songs are more Metal influenced than others, like 'Different' 'Black Hole' and 'Rinne'. Some songs are so heavy they straddle the line of Hard Rock and Metal without being either, like 'Shambles'. BAND-MAID are their own genre. So don't forget the softer side of BAND-MAID either, like 'Endless Story' and 'About Us'.

In 2100 we will still see people not thinking woman can rock, japanese people can rock, can play music (they can even walk trust me)... next episode for the next reactor... The only thing those bands can't do is to be famous worldwide because that is only for american sadly. I know the greatests fan of band maid and other japanese band will say to me they are know in the world. But i isay no it's not because they tour sometime in usa and other country than they are know by all the population, only by 0,01%. it's not enough it will never be enough.with the talernt of those bands.
I'd like to second the recommendation I've read here for you to check out the Mexican sisters from Monterrey, The Warning. You said you like heavy, well, The Warning will give you exactly that. Guitarist Daniela has a new custom baritone Strat tuned to drop A that she plays in their latest single "Automatic Sun." The tone is dirtier than dirty. They've been playing together for ten years also, but they started very young, they are currently aged 24, 22, and 19. Their cover of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" (2015) got them noticed and got them an invite from Metallica to do a new arrangement of the song, which became side one, track one on the Black List album. I've been a Band-Maid fan since 2019 and I'm really anticipating their new album due out this summer. Band-Maid and The Warning will be doing a joint show in Tokyo on June 12. The two bands are fans of each other, I think that's cool. The Warning's new album "Keep Me Fed" is being released June 28. And like the Maidiacs, if you react, The Warning Army will come, and they can fill you in better than I can. Check them out, I don't think you'll regret it.
Try a band that's playing in Japan with BAND MAID very soon.. "THE WARNING"..HELL YOU CALL A DREAM LIVE AT PEPSI CENTER CDMX.. AUTOMATIC SUN(Studio version)💥🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑💥🤯🤯🤯
@@eatsmylifeYT Yeah, it gets me too. I have a funny feeling a lot of westerners (US/UK etc) think anything with real guitars is 'metal'. They actually debuted the arrangement in Japan last summer and used it the night before the festival, but it's a minor point.

10 YEARS together as a band. Hard to believe they just keep getting better. Write their own songs and the lyrics for this was written by the singer although most lyrics are written by Miku (rhythm guitarist) while most of the music is written by the guitarist Kanami (Mincho).
@rogerchance9074 Nice one Roger!
@rogerchance9074 Hopefully they'll love it. I've been watching reactions to it for 6 years and new reactors who appreciate musicianship always get it.
There’s that smile as the joy and depth of Band-Maid music strikes deep.
Another maidiac is born!
> WHO SAID WOMEN CAN’T ROCK OUT?!?!
Mostly people that are completely surprised when they see women who can.
You know what Bruno, i can't even beat Roger to a reply now.😂

@rogerchance9074 You're a fcken Maidiac Champion Roger, I look forward to the day I can shout you several beers after a Maid's concert serving 😀👍🍻
Dunno what they're feeding their girls over there but if it is Japanese, all-female & rock or metal you know for sure that you're in for a treat.
Nice first reaction. As someone who grew up in the Western male dominated rock scene, I had similar reaction as you when I first saw a video of them in 2019.
I was blown away man!

“Watching and listening to Band-Maid will shock your sense of sight and sound!”
THE WARNING💥🤯
Hej Brandon !
Welcome to the world of Band-Maid.
Glad to have you with us on this journey.
@rogerchance9074 You are like a reactors whisperer ;-)
Their most "Motorhead" is 'No God'...ACE OF MAIDS!!!!! 💪👊👍🤘🤘🤘
Congratulations on discovering the #1 band in the world today! Buckle up and enjoy the ride!! 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂🕊
no doubt one of the best ROCK bands touring today, and without any doubt their Bass/guitar combo is one of the best in the business
There is no bad Band Maid song so pick what you like:
Special live: Freedom (Live), Play (Live) and of course their latest "Don't you tell me" (Live), just release before "Hate?"
Hard rock: Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV), Dice (MV), Shambles (MV)
Varied songs: Corallium (Live at Shibuya), Influencer (MV)
Very chatchy chorus: Choose me (MV), Alone (MV), Secret my lips (Live)
Ballads: Memorable (MV), About Us (MV), Daydreaming (MV)
Instrumentals: From now on (MV), Onset (Live)
Miku songs: Sayonakidory (also acoustic), Time, Beauty and the Beast (sadly no good video)
And finally a very special live performance: Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live)🍌
This is just a (quite) random selection of songs.
Have fun... Po
Thank you so much for these recommendations!! Definitely adding to my list of reactions 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Best band on the planet. All 5 of these beauties bring it.
They're not girls. All the members are elegant ladies, each of them aged 30 or above. 😉🤘
I GOT A MISSION TO ACCOMPLISH!!!
THANK YOU GUYS FOR EXPANDING MY HORIZON ON MUSIC!!
I love the requests please keep it coming 🤟🏽
They were the second Japanese Band invited to perform at Lallapalooza and they killed it!!! First Japanese band X Japan, the greatest metal band you never heard of. Band Maid has been touring the US since 2015!!!!
What ROLLING STONE had to say:
Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame
There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that. -N.C.
Now 3 more bands:
Lovebites - "Hammer of Wrath" Live
Nemophila - "Revive" Live
Rolling Quartz - "Fearless" studio MV and they are Korean
They are all, all female BANDS!!!
what? we love women who rock. you could try The Warning, Hanabie, Lovebites, Nemophila, Trident, Marys blood and East of Eden too
They are a rockin' band, that's for sure! *"from now on!"*
Once I’m exploring more of their music, I will start to see more of what you guys mean! I’m excited
I hope Band-Maid reconizes Roger and sends him some free tickets or something.

LETS KEEP THIS GOING GUYS!!! KEEP SHARING THIS BAND-MAID REACTION!!! YOU GUYS ARE BRINGING IN AWESOME FANS AND SUPPORT!!! 🤟🏽
(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz".
Subscribed!
Thank you for tuning in on the channel and appreciate your sub my man! 🤟🏽 stay tuned this weekend for more reaction to band-maid and some GRUNGE 🤟🏽🤟🏽
i think we have a new Maidiac 👍😎😊😊😊
They consider themselve hard rock - with heavy influences from other genres, and they have their "nemesis" Band-Maiko for the calmer acoustic music and servings.
🤘Love Band Maid!!!!🤘
I like when reactors rewind back.
Well deserved success
BAND-MAID consider themselves to be Hard Rock, though they have so many influences that they are no respecters of genres. Many of their songs are more Metal influenced than others, like 'Different' 'Black Hole' and 'Rinne'. Some songs are so heavy they straddle the line of Hard Rock and Metal without being either, like 'Shambles'. BAND-MAID are their own genre. So don't forget the softer side of BAND-MAID either, like 'Endless Story' and 'About Us'.
It's amazing how Band-Maid has rewritten the laws of nature: Hate brings Love! 😖--->🎀--->😍

And there are still many, many more. 😲

It's much better if you don't try to peg the kind of music they play into one genre.
Go easy, it's his first listen. Many bands you KNOW the genre from one song. We know Band-Maid defy genre!
@@Davey-Boyd I said this because he kept saying "metal".
@@eatsmylifeYT Yeah, it gets me too. I have a funny feeling a lot of westerners (US/UK etc) think anything with real guitars is 'metal'. Then get really shocked when same band hits them with a ballad or an acoustic! I really don't think that Kanami has a notion of genre, she just writes what she feels.
@@Davey-Boyd True. Personally, I don't even want to think of defining genres for anyone. I just go by "I know what I like" and I definitely like Band Maid.
