Some cool kids that still get the vibes of one of the greatest albums of all time? Got this old mans sub....keep at it guys...looking forward to your journey...💯
It's awesome, watching you guys listening to Siamese Dream that I grew up with from my generation back in the 90s I was 13 years old when Siamese Dream came out in the year 1993 my teenage memories from 90s when it actually happened
I'm so glad I grew up with actual music like this. I'm mostly over the 90's but there are a few bands I still listen to and the Pumpkins are one of them. Glad that young kids are discovering this music as well. I feel sorry for kids and what is being fed to them as music these days.
"Disarm" was written by Billy Corgan about his childhood. He was abused and neglected as a child. The lyrics hit really hard. Three songs make my cry every time I listen to them. "Disarm" by Smashing Pumpkins, "One More Light" by Linkin Park and "Nutshell" by Alice in Chains. All 3 hit really hard. So happy to see young people enjoying music I grew up listening to.
Today and Disarm hit the biggest nostalgia bone of growing up in my neighborhood as a kid in our family home. They make me tear up all the time. All these years and still some of my favorite songs ever.
also, this is from an interview with billy corgan about spaceboy. 6. Corgan penned “Spaceboy” about his younger brother, Jesse Andersen. Corgan’s brother Jesse was born with mild cerebral palsy and Tourette’s syndrome, among other ailments. “The best way I explain it is that he’s like a Rain Man type of character,” Corgan told The Huffington Post of Jesse in 2012. “He’s got certain things probably greater than someone else and he’s lacking in a few things that most of us just take for granted. . . . He was raised to be a normal boy, but, of course, not everyone in the world sees him as a normal boy. Hence my song ‘Spaceboy,’ on Siamese Dream, because here’s this kind of kid who comes from some other planet and he’s had to figure it out for himself as he’s gotten to be a man."
Mellon Collie album is the next natural progression after Siamese. Those two albums are always in the conversation as some of the best that came out of the 90s
Cherub rock Who wants honey, as long as there’s some money?” This suggests the idea that people will compromise their values for financial success or approval. • “Let me out” A cry for freedom from societal and industry pressures. Ultimately, “Cherub Rock” is a statement of defiance, showcasing Corgan’s complex relationship with both indie and mainstream music cultures. It reflects his desire to transcend labels and focus on the purity of creating art.
Siamese Dream is one of the GOATs. Landmark LP. Industry had trouble putting Smashing Pumpkins in a genre. Big plus in my book. Soma and Hummer are secret weapons. Great reaction. While you're at it. Put Tool in the mix. The Ænema LP is kinda like Radiohead, but on a different level. And HEAVY.
Guys I really enjoyed the video! I love your authenticity, that’s what a lot of reactions of RUclips are lacking! Enjoy all these first listens, I’m a bit jealous especially with Siamese Dream, it definitely changed everything for me back when I heard it the first time. It’s a masterpiece! I saw them live this year and they played mayonnaise which is one of my favorites ! My suggestion: since Butch Vic was mentioned you should definitely listen to the debut from his band „Garbage“
Now young dudes, as a fan of SP for 32 years I would recommend you not fail to listen to the following albums as well: Gish, Pisces Iscariot (b-side album), Mellon-Collie & the Infinite Sadness as well as The Aeroplane Flies High box set. Some other bands you might enjoy are Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots. You might consider listening to some Jimi Hendrix, Boston, Rush and Pink Floyd as well. ENJOY!
Siamese Dream is a very autobiographical album about Billy Corgan's childhood and young adulthood. Disarm, in particular, deals with the heavy topic of the physical abuse he suffered as a young child from his father and especially his grandmother. His only defence being to smile at them. An incredibly sad song.
40:28 I have no idea what "crispy" means in this context. But I assume it's a good thing? And now, I'm a little curious about what these guys would think of NIN's Downward Spiral.
This is fun. Wish I could go back to my first listen. Only feedback for you guys is to fix whatever is cutting the music in and out. Would be much more fun to jam along with you without all the skipping.

It somehow gives me hope that young lads still can be hit by simple things like good music and expressing it genuinely
