One thing I forgot to mention, they also changed the tyre pressure sensor readout from bar to psi, for free! 🎉 Like Terry said below, a non-BMW dealership wont have have access to software upgrades, should your bike require it. Ding dong. ✊
Thanks for putting out this information. My R1200GS is due a 24k service so this is very helpful. I can see why some people prefer to trade in their bikes at this sort of mileage. When you consider additional costs like the tyre pressure sensors and the possibility of faults with the electronic suspension, swapping to a newer lower mileage freshly serviced bike with a 2 year BMW guarantee can look attractive.
I’ve always had good service and reasonable pricing from my bmw dealer in Northampton. Chap had his triumph serviced 20 k one just under a oner that’s a bit steep for me like 😣
I recently had a 24k service done on my 2017 R1200GS by independent BMW specialist Overland and Classic in Melton Mowbray and that cost £450. Same as you Billy, my previous bike was a 2015 Triumph Tiger Explorer and I have a 10K service done by David at Muddy Sump (he comes to you) for £180!
That don't look too bad Billy. Just had a major service on the Tiger Explorer 1200 with MOT, rear pads, new fork seals. Not much change from a oner. That was an independent garage oop norf.
They haven't done anything you couldn't do yourself, except extinguish the service lamp at the end. By law here in Sweden the workshop must keep within 10% of the quoted price, so if something unexpected is detected they have to phone you, explain the problem and ask what you want them to do. I've had some really bad work done by BMW dealerships, so I would never put my safety in their hands🕊 But I would never buy a bike with Canbus anyway......

@@XS750F yeah no worries, glad it helped. Cheers.

Happy days
Ready for another session pal.

£450, that’s £100 cheaper than what BMW quoted.
I think you paid a fair price Billy 👍. An independent dealer wouldn't have access to any software upgrades either (had there been any).
That’s a good point. 🙏

Ahh that is good to know, im pretty sure it cost me over 1k for a major service (from a triumph dealer ship ) in london.
Must have some money you Billy :-) I guess the valves were all in spec too.
Ohh no, i am far far away from having some money 😂😂
That doesn’t look too bad, it’s the dreaded VAT which takes the shine off things.
Versys 1000 model 2012.. big servis ...vale check ...428 Eur...at 41.735 km...
Had a major service on my R1200RT last month. £630.00
That’s not bad, from a BMW dealership?

Yes, Wollaston Northampton.
Is there a VIP Room in Billy's Parlour of Dreams? Major service on Yamaha Tracer GT900 £1,100
😂😂 yes mate, subscribers only though. Kin’hell! That’s a bit steep.
OMG 😳
Fuck me that’s expensive for a yam, be that extra spark plug 😮
