During production the studio suggested the parents get back together at the end of the movie. both Robin WIlliams & Sally Field objected saying it would give false hope to any kids watching with divorced parents. They reworked it, added that ending speech and the movie is much greater for it.
as a child of divorce, that ending scene with Mrs. Doubtfire reading the letter from the little girl always makes me tear up. this movie is such a timeless classic and I enjoy it just as much now as an adult as I did as a child ❤️
Being a child of divorced parents, this movie should have hit me a lot harder than it did. I still love and adore it, I am just surprised it doesn't break me, as by all rights it should. But I'll consider that a good thing, so I am not distracted away from Robin Williams' amazing performance. It may also be the fact that I was never kept from either my mom nor my dad. They would argue over everything... except me. I was always the one constant they always agreed upon, and I feel absolutely grateful for that. It always breaks my heart when divorced parents use their children against each other. Fortunately in this film, Miranda never quite went that route.
This is hands-down one of my favorite movies. Watching it now, after Robin Williams passed away, it’s just very bitter sweet. I always choke up with his words “You’re going to be alright, poppet. Bye-Bye.” 💔
@@AwesomeUSMovies Sally Field was also in Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds. It's a comedy with the great Jackie Gleason, so you might want to check that one out as well. Speaking of Jackie Gleason, he's most well known for The Honeymooners sitcom from the mid-1950s that you might find amusing to watch on your own time.
She's in the recent release 80 for Brady. Cute movie. Not great, but she's easily the best performance in it. Norma Rae is one of the first movies I ever saw. Dad was big on unions and insisted we see it when it came out
The ending of this movie was spot-on, I’m glad they took the advice of Robin Williams and Sally Fields. My parents divorced when I was 8 and I think it made a lot of sense to be honest and acknowledge that most divorced couples don’t get back together but it doesn’t mean your life is over. Loved this reaction - not sure how I missed it but I’m glad I found it 👍
THANK YOU!!! Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, and Billy Crystal did Comic Relief. The purpose was to help the homeless. Robin Williams, from what I heard, always required 5 homeless people to be hired by whoever ran the movie.
Ve Neil, the makeup artist who did the work on this movie, said the greatest moment of working this movie was when she had Robin Williams in full Mrs. Doubtfire makeup, and one of the extras came over to her and asked “Is Robin Williams going to be onset today?” When he was standing right next to her. She won the Oscar for makeup effects that year, too. She was also responsible for the makeup effects in the movie Beetlejuice.
So was the oldest daughter.. played Russell's daughter, Alicia. And the court liaison lady played Jim Carey's secretary in Liar Liar (another great movie imo)
RIP national treasure Robin Williams. This is easily one of his best, but he was also great in Good Will Hunting, Good Morning Vietnam, Aladdin, Dead Poets Society, The Fisher King, Awakenings, What Dreams May Come, Hook, and Insomnia. Some of those are also comedies (Williams got his start as a stand-up comic and then also for his work playing a goofy alien in the TV show Mork and Mindy), but most are actually dramas. Turns out he was an extremely talented dramatic actor, as well, which I think you can see a bit of in this film. Sadly, he ended up taking his own life, after struggling with depression for a long time. Sally Field is so cute I like her in this. She got her start in the 60s as "Gidget." Though one of my favorite roles of hers is in Forrest Gump which I know you've already seen. Pierce Brosnan is probably best known for playing James Bond for many years before the role was taken over by Daniel Craig. The youngest girl, Mara Wilson, stars in my favorite adaptation of a Roald Dahl Book, Matilda, but she hasn't acted much since growing up. Might be retired.
Oh, try "Steel Magnolias" sometime for some great Sally Field, as well as several other wonderful actresses! Also, if you like the little girl you MUST see "Matilda"
One of my favourite movies as a kid and of course alot of these jokes went over my head lol One of the best things about watching movies again where you're older is realizing how much adult humour is in so many films. Stuart is played by Irish actor Pierce Brosnan who also played 007 in four James Bond films. Natalie the youngest daughter is played by Mara Wilson who was in Matilda from 1996 another fun film that has a special place in many peoples hearts. Miranda is played by Sally Field who also played Mrs. Gump in Forrest Gump which released a year after Mrs Doubtfire, imagine see was in and out of playing both characters filming back to back. Lydia Hillard the oldest Daughter is played Lisa Jakub who also acted in Independence Day. 3:19 the short guy could be Danny Devito who also stars in alot of movies and shows, he's awesome. Chris Columbus who directed Mrs Doubtfire also has a bunch of other movies such as Home Alone and Home Alone 2. He also directed the first two Harry Potter films as well but with once you get into Harry Potter there's no turning back lol
If you're looking for other movies that share some of these actors, Mathilda stars Mara Wilson (the little girl), Independence Day has Harvey Fierstein (the face-making brother) in a small role, and Liar Liar has Anne Haney (the social worker) as the secretary.
I'll tell you a bittersweet personal anecdote about this movie: I was 13 or so when I saw this in theaters with my family and best friend after I had just competed (and lost) in a piano competition. Processing all those emotions during this movie came out a certain kinda way, and this movie made me experience for the first time in my life -- crying from laughter. Many years later, when I got the news that Robin Williams had passed away (my parents texted me the news while I was still lying in bed in my bachelor pad), it was the only time thus far that I got misty-eyed because a celebrity died. Man, Robin Williams was the best. He "got me" on both ends of the comedy/drama spectrum. May he rest in peace.
Robin Williams shaped my childhood. I miss him so much. I cried so much when he died. Such a horrible tragedy. But we’ll always have his films/stand ups/interviews to look back on and treasure. He was an incredibly kind and compassionate man in real life.
This movie is a not-so-subtle MRA movie. 😉 Fun Fact: During the scene when Mrs. Sellner comes to inspect Daniel's apartment and Daniel/Mrs. Doubtfire is serving her tea, the icing on his/her face is melting off. This was not intentional. The heat from the set lights melted the icing on his face and Robin Williams improvised the bulk of that scene. Bonus Fact: According to one biography, Robin Williams decided to test out the believability of his Mrs. Doubtfire character during filming by going as Mrs. Doubtfire into an adult bookstore and making a purchase. He was able to do so without being recognized.
I mean, there is an active vocal minority that tries to decry this movie as 'transphobic' and obviously to them Robin Williams' character is an 'irresponsible manchild' (when talking about how he should have no rights to his children, duh). Those are the times we live in...
@@spacemonkeyentertainment6413 Fuck, really?! Social Justice Warriors cannot figure out how to: laugh, feel something nice for a heartwarming movie and just overthink when they should enjoy a single movie! I cannot stand them that much more now! He was ROBIN WILLIAMS! 😤😥🤬
Loved your reaction! Fun trivia if you didn’t already know: the line, “Carpe Detum… seize the teeth” is a reference to Robin Williams’ iconic quote from the movie Dead Poets Society, “Carpe Diem… seize the day” 😂
I remember reading this book when I was in middle school the book was called "Madame Doubtfire" by Anne Fine. I was good read. I was at the theater when it came out as a movie. Robin Williams is amazing actor. I always loved his films. My all time favorite film of his is Hook.
The brainwashing is real 😂. Similarly, the first time I went to Amsterdam I was shocked! Nothing like it had been depicted; it was super-clean and everyone looked so healthy 😂😂🥰.
The genius of Mrs. Doubtfire is that there are no real villains. There are people with conflicting goals that creates tension, but there are no 'bad guys.' They could have easily made the mom or the boyfriend out to be horrible people that you wanted to see lose. The closest they came, IMHO, is when the boyfriend told another person that Daniel was a loser. When I saw this in the theater, I said, "Okay. NOW he's going to show his true colors...but the writers didn't take him that way. I thought the lack of a true villain made it a much better story.
Fun Robin Williams Fact - His early career, starting in improv and stand up would see him land a role in Happy Days, from which the spin off 'Mork and Mindy was born. Recorded on stage, Robin Williams and the director had an interesting relationship to say the least, as his improv background and incredibly creative mind was constantly deviating from the script, but it was also comedy gold. Television programs in those days were filmed using three cameras. These were huge pieces of equipment and the industry standard was that they were static, one focused on one actor's face, another on the second actor's face, and a third covering a wide shot, with all three feeds then being cut together post production. Early in filming, Robin launched into several minutes of improv, moving all over the stage as he did and it was genius, hilarious, the director loved it. When he eventually yelled cut, he went up to one of the cameramen and said 'Tell me you got that', to which the reply came 'He didn't come by here'. So upset was the director, he decided this couldn't continue and promptly arranged for a fourth camera, whose sole job it was to follow Robin and film everything he did so not a single moment was lost. Soon after this camera setup became standard and has been used to this day to record tv programs. All because of Robin Williams.
I watched this movie so many times I hadn't even caught the reference to Robin Williams' other movie, Dead Poet's Society. When he dropped his dentures in the drink he says "carpe dentum, seize the teeth". That's a funny little twist to the line "carpe diem, seize the day". I hadn't even noticed that until I saw this video.
😳Right, that’s possible. That’s another forgotten masterpiece he was in. His character within the character is British- some of the high-class-gentry love speaking Latin / fake Latin. 🤣👍
@@AwesomeUSMovies Sorry, I swear it's not a spoiler, it's just a catchphrase for the movie, the one iconic line that everyone remembers years later, like "I am your Father" or "This is Sparta!", lines like that.
This whole journey of yours is so unique and so interesting. That you’re experiencing these classic films that everyone knows. And more than that, you get to experience these iconic performers for the first time. Robin Williams is absolutely a cultural icon. Hope we get a science fiction and western week soon!!
One of the many great things about Robin Williams, when he starred in a movie, he required that the studio hire a certain number of homeless people for the production.
She may not have been the "bad guy" in the begining, but what absolutely made her the bad guy was doing things like: Dropping the kids off an hour late and arriving to pick them up an hour early, which cuts his time with his kids on his time by 2 hours. And there's really not anything he could do about that.
I grew up in the Bay Area, and the restaurant they ate at "Bridges" is in Danville CA, 20 minutes from where I used to live, and grew up. Ate there a couple of times for my annivarsary. Sadly it's no longer there, at least it has a different owner, and a different name.
Glad but not surprised you loved it. Your laugh is contagious. Fun watching your comedy reactions. Sally Field was also in Smokey and the Bandit. Burt Reynolds said she was the one that got away. Sally was amazing.
Robin was soooo amazing! But the most amazing thing about his acting was that he ad libbed the vast majority of his lines in everything he ever did, and movie producers literally wrote the script around his ad libs, even on animated movies he did (like playing the genie on Aladdin fir example) he was nothing short of amazing and is definitely missed 😥 RIP Robin
The 3rd person you couldn’t place for Comic Relief was Billy Crystal, and you also need to add City Slickers to your watch list! One of Billy Crystal’s best flicks!
Natalie was child actor Mara Wilson who was in quite a few movies around that time. Peirce Brosnon playing Stu was James Bond for a while and Lydia was in Independance day
As biased as I am, because I'm kind of an Oscar nerd, Robin Williams is terrific in a film called "Good Will Hunting," from 1997. He ended up winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, and two of the other actors in the film, childhood friends Matt Damon (who plays Will) and Ben Affleck (who plays one of his friends in the film) wrote the film together and won in the writing category.
Your movie list is HUGE! I hope you're doing this as a full-time job, 5 days a week. I don't know if these Robin Williams movies are on your list yet, but they are all fantastic: The World According To Garp, Hook (he plays Peter Pan), Dead Again (supporting role), and Awakenings. I believe you've already seen him in Good Will Hunting and probably Punch Adams. His drama One Hour Photo is compelling. Sally Field was The Flying Nun and Gidget on TV, and won an Emmy for Sybil. Her biggest role is probably in Steel Magnolias. You never saw Mork & Mindy on TV? That was Williams' big break starting with a guest role on Happy Days. The little girl played the title role in the classic film Matilda, and the older sister you've already seen in Independence Day as Russell Case's daughter. The scraggle-voiced brother was in that movie too, at the cable company in Manhattan.
Hey bro, glad to hear you have been to San Francisco and liked it. The restaurant in the movie is a real restaurant called Bridges in a city called Danville that is a suburb San Francisco across the bay from San Francisco. I've eaten there before. It's a very good restaurant.
I hope you watch many more Robin Williams movies! We lost him tragically in 2014, and I miss him. He's the voice of the genie in Disney's Aladdin, and there are lots of good comedies he's been in, but more than any other actor I can think of, he could do serious roles just as well as funny ones. Highly recommend: Good Will Hunting 1997 (the one that got him an Oscar) Insomnia 2002 (one of his darker roles in a crime drama, top notch) Thanks James, see you next time!
I used to ride those muni busses all the time when I lived in San Francisco. I love the nice shots of the bridge and the outdoors of San Francisco in rhe movie.
Robin Williams has always been one of my favorite actors, favorite people. I'd always dreamed of meeting him someday. I am still extremely depressed over his loss and I'll never get that chance
Unfortuantely... as much as I love Robin Williams' performances and will continue to enjoy them... I cannot forgive him for the way he went out. I understand some people suffer depression and feel isolated and alone... but alone is one thing he never was. Further, he left his daughter Zelda behind... giving no consideration to how his death would affect her. I'm sorry if anyone thinks that is unfair... but I cannot forgive him.
@@k1productions87 It's true Robin Williams had suffered on & off with depression, but depression wasn't the reason for him taking his life. He had been diagnosed with a serious illness, one that was going to rob him of his independence, and eventually his life. He decided to skip all the suffering, and go out before the loss of dignity & basic function. The way he saw it, he had already lived a full life, done all the things he wanted to do, his quality of life was going to go downhill, and he was ready to go. You mentioned his daughter & how this would affect her; she actually had to make statements & address all the comments like yours, where people were upset, and calling Robin, selfish. She very articulately shared her thoughts and feelings, about this, and they were the complete opposite of yours. She thought it incredibly selfish, of everyone else, to ask someone suffering so greatly, to live longer, just for their own comfort & selfish reasons. If you'd like to read her exact words, the letter can be found online. Me personally, would I want a world where Robin Williams is still alive? Sure. Would I want that, even if it meant his suffering & unhappiness? No. That would be selfish. Bottom line, it was his life, he had a right to decide how he wanted to live it.
@@impishsongster333 It would have been nice if this information were to accompany his passing, rather than be left ambiguous to be found out later only after the negative reception.
@@k1productions87 His daughter addressed this immediately after his passing, because so many people were lashing out calling him selfish. Of course they were upset because of his passing, but they didn't have the facts, or the total understanding of his situation. He still had depression issues, but also a serious illness. He was tired...sick...and ready to go. Sad, but honestly, I get it. Sometimes, not living is more humane, than years & years of unhappy suffering.
Haha brilliant start.... you said he isn't on the cover.... I wish I'd never seen it so I could enjoy it for the first time..... You say no spoilers but you're literally the first person I've ever heard hadn't seen it.... except my seven year old nephew which reminds me I need to show him this movie.
Fun fact: Harvey Fierstein (Frank Hilliard, the brother) was born with an overdeveloped vestibular fold in in his vocal cords, which is why he has such a distinct voice. It essentially gives him a "double voice."
LOL, if you watch a lot of my stuff I tend to pick up on little things. I caught like a big Ghostbusters thing that people were like WTH, I've seen that move 20 times. If I remember right it was the stairs to the roof was behind her Fridge.
Glad to see that you enjoyed this great movie as well. Robin Williams was definitely one of kind. Here are some good movies of his to check out The Birdcage, Jack, Cider House Rules, Dead Poets Society, Night at the Museum and Good Will Hunting. There are so many more as well. If you decide to check out any Disney animated movies I would suggest Alladin. Robin's role in that was simply classic and legendary. The comedy special you referred to was Comic Relief and was started by Robin Williams, Whoopie Goldberg and Billy Crystal for homelessness. The money raised was 100 percent given directly to shelters and organizations across the US helping the homeless. It became an annual event. Keep enjoying the movies...
I remember this being one of the few movies that had my dad wiping tears of laughter out of his eyes right there in the theater....such a good film, it was a joy to revisit it. We got tornadoed bout a week and a half ago and haven't been able to actually go anywhere or do anything (except clean up, but the upper part of the city was still swarming with Mennonites as of Thursday, and they got it covered) so since the power came back on, I've been sitting here and bingewatching all my faves. Here's a couple I didn't see on your list....and no, none of them are Dances With Wolves...1.) Titanic. That one DOES clock in at over 3 hours though. But it goes fast. Very, very fast. 2.) Galaxy Quest - I have never laughed so hard 3.) Apollo 13 - Reunites Tom Hanks with Gary Sinise or however his name is spelled. Lieutenant Dan. Him. 4.) Men in Black - Tommy Lee Jones deadpanning his way through Will Smith's shenanigans. I think there's 3? I've only seen the first two and they are equally good. 5.) Hunger Games - There's 4. They were marketed as YA (young adult) movies for teenyboppers looking for the next Strong and Talented Teen Girl In Love Triangle to start out with, which caused them to be dismissed almost off-hand by an adult audience...and then the critics reviews started coming in with "hey, these movies are actually way deeper and hard hitting than we thought they would be, holy crap" And finally 6.) Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Gloriously funny....and bloody... And I WOULD say Twister, but that would just lead to me screeching in the comment section about how everything the characters in that movie do is a great way to commit suicide.....good hollywood-ing though.
@@AwesomeUSMovies They do...they had to condense the storyline, naturally, so certain elements were changed or omitted (and the violence was toned down a few notches...I mean they're still going around killing kids and blowing people up) but overall they're very faithful to the books and I give 'em 8.5/10 I only have one major quibble about the first movie, but I'll hold onto it til when/if you watch the movie.
@@AwesomeUSMovies Oh! Oh! Let me to spam your watch list (how long is it now?) I forgot three, and all of em are DOOZIES. Coincidentally, they're all WW2 movies...lemme see if i can vague-synopsis without spoiling.... 1.) Schindler's List: DO NOT START WITH THIS ONE, IT WILL EAT YOU ALIVE. A Holocaust film also directed by Steven Spielberg, and often referred to as one of the top three best films of all time. This is the grandaddy of All The Feels. (and I have so many, many stories about that one. All of 'em, actually...) This is one of those very few films that I believe everyone should see at least once in their lifetime because the story MUST be told. Prepare to be gutted The ending is bittersweet. . 2.) Hacksaw Ridge: Story about a medic in the Pacific front. Start with this one. I won't deny that the battle scenes are gory because someone let Mel Gibson into the director's chair and he did a FANTASTIC job presenting the story. But...he has this thing for carnage..Blood, severed limbs, brains and rats the size of housecats all over the goddamn place but that's the way it WAS. Hope you aren't squeamish about that kind of thing. Overall mood: Inspiring! 3:) The Tuskegee Airmen (the one with Lawrence Fishborne in it, not "Red Tails" as that's an entirely different movie.) Story about the first Black fighter squad and the racist hell they had to go through to get there. Caution, you may have to edit a bit creatively or bleep over ....certain words that start with an n....that's being tossed around like a hot potato...Anyway. The story is history and needs to be history that we remember...and yet there is not a single reaction to this movie on RUclips
If you want to hear Sally Field going absolutely ham with her voice, you should watch Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. She plays the voice of the cat, appropriately named "Sassy" and it is an absolute joy to listen to. Plus Michael J. Fox as one of the dogs
u should have seen the inspiration for this movie. An 80's movie with Dustin Hoffman called Tootsie. Robin Williams said in an interview that he had to get some advice from Hoffman on pretending to be a woman. U really should watch Nine Months next. in my opinion Robin is way more funny! Also, u should see Robin in one of his thrillers One Hour Photo.
Another one with a similar premise is Some Like It Hot from 1959. It was probably Marilyn Monroe's best role, and perhaps Jack Lemmon's best role as well. And it has one of my favorite endings of any films.
The judge makes a good point. Daniel really had to be much stricter with his children to stay in Miranda's good graces, and he probably had to plead insanity just to have a chance of stopping the judge from sending him to prison.
Sally Field is rather famous for playing Mama Gump (Mrs. Gump) in the movie Forrest Gump 😉"Life is like a box of chocolate Forrest. You never know what you`re gonna get" Pierce Brosnan (The boyfriend) is famous for playing the 5th James Bond in 4 Bond Movies including GoldenEye.
This was always such a great film. In this role, I always wished Robin Williams could be my dad. However, as I got older, even though my dad was not as hip, or into cross-dressing to play a nanny as Robin Williams was, my dad was willing to sacrifice so much for us kids. So, that is something that I always appreciate about this film. The comedy is still great and I love the line "It was a drive-by fruiting!".
@@ScarlettM Unfortunately Gene Hackman was kinda wasted in that role. He did good for what he was given, but he's done so many much better performances. To me, it just stands out among everything else truly exceptional in that film.
@@k1productions87 I think Gene Hackman was very good in this role. He's tale of seeing foliage during the drive is hilarious. I don't think that this was his best role or that he was the absolute best actor for it, but I am happy with his performance.

Oh,wait, He's great in Hot Fuzz !! Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead and Worlds End (Aka the Cornetto Trilogy) is even more important for Your to-Watch-List than Smokey and the Bandit !
Not the 'Hollywood ending' that you and every one else was expecting, but on reflection, I think it was the first film I ever saw that portrayed a divorced/divorcing couple AND showing there can be a positive outcome. This is one of my favourite films and one of my favourite actors. It is still surreal to talk about Robin Williams in the past tense. We can only wonder what he would have done if he was still with us. His filmography is really worth checking out and much of it I think you would enjoy very much. The World According To Garp, Good Morning Vietnam, Patch Adams, What Dreams May Come, Dead Poets Society, The Fisher King, Good Will Hunting, Bicentennial Man, would be my initial recommendations of his best work and most enjoyable films.

Yeah this was a great movie. There was actually a deleted scene that took place after the mom found out he was Mrs. Doubtfire where they were really fighting again and the kids were upstairs listening but they decided it was too much for a family movie so they cut it which was probably a good idea. Its also why Daniel decided to wait outside at the end of the movie

Robin WIlliams is such a fantastic actor and comedian. Though his life is over his work will live forever. He has had many amazing movies that are not all comedies and you should really check out more of his work. Like Jumanji (95), Night at the museum (not the main protagonist), Jack(96), Flubber(97).
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
R.I.P Robin Williams, he was such an amazing actor and person, he'll be forever missed
I still say "Hellloooooooo!" to this day. haha I've watched this a bunch!
Love it
And, “ohhh your teaaaaa!”
R.I.P. Robin Williams. He was just such a joy and gave so much happiness to us all. He will be missed. I am so grateful to him for all the laughter.
My first laugh was when you said, "Robin Williams is NOT in the poster". 😄
Oh, try "Steel Magnolias" sometime for some great Sally Field, as well as several other wonderful actresses!
Also, if you like the little girl you MUST see "Matilda"
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Gump in
Forrest Gump which released a year after Mrs Doubtfire, imagine see was in and out of playing both characters filming back to back.
Good info thanks. Yeah, Love Chris Columbus
If you're looking for other movies that share some of these actors, Mathilda stars Mara Wilson (the little girl), Independence Day has Harvey Fierstein (the face-making brother) in a small role, and Liar Liar has Anne Haney (the social worker) as the secretary.
Added thanks
The older daughter played by Lisa Jakub is also in Independence Day.
I also believe the social worker was also in a fairly strong episode of Star Trek the Next Generation called "The Survivors", as Mrs. Uxbridge
May he rest in peace.
nice story thanks
Robin Williams shaped my childhood. I miss him so much. I cried so much when he died. Such a horrible tragedy. But we’ll always have his films/stand ups/interviews to look back on and treasure. He was an incredibly kind and compassionate man in real life.
This movie is a not-so-subtle MRA movie. 😉
Fun Fact: During the scene when Mrs.
Love it
I mean, there is an active vocal minority that tries to decry this movie as 'transphobic' and obviously to them Robin Williams' character is an 'irresponsible manchild' (when talking about how he should have no rights to his children, duh).

Oh yeah, well... Dead Poets is actually coming out on Friday on my channel. Amazing movie
Love the perspective, and your channel! Thanks!

I remember reading this book when I was in middle school the book was called "Madame Doubtfire" by Anne Fine. I was good read. I was at the theater when it came out as a movie. Robin Williams is amazing actor. I always loved his films. My all time favorite film of his is Hook.
Didn't know it was a book
Sally Fields played in "Smokey And The Bandit" opposite Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed, she played in "Forest Gump" and many more!!
She's really good!!

I didn't know americans had that image of us
The brainwashing is real 😂.
Very well said
Fun Robin Williams Fact - His early career, starting in improv and stand up would see him land a role in Happy Days, from which the spin off 'Mork and Mindy was born.
Funny
I watched this movie so many times I hadn't even caught the reference to Robin Williams' other movie, Dead Poet's Society.
When he dropped his dentures in the drink he says "carpe dentum, seize the teeth". That's a funny little twist to the line "carpe diem, seize the day". I hadn't even noticed that until I saw this video.
😳Right, that’s possible. That’s another forgotten masterpiece he was in. His character within the character is British- some of the high-class-gentry love speaking Latin / fake Latin. 🤣👍
I haven't seen that sorry.
@@AwesomeUSMovies Sorry, I swear it's not a spoiler, it's just a catchphrase for the movie, the one iconic line that everyone remembers years later, like "I am your Father" or "This is Sparta!", lines like that.

Her acting in the restaurant scene is so good, angry, shocked, upset all at the same time.
Love that scene

Such a heartfelt film. I wish that I had watched this in the theater. One of my favorites.
One of the many great things about Robin Williams, when he starred in a movie, he required that the studio hire a certain number of homeless people for the production.
I love your reaction to this movie, when I first watched this movie I was on the floor laughing. this movie is one of his best work to me.
She may not have been the "bad guy" in the begining, but what absolutely made her the bad guy was doing things like: Dropping the kids off an hour late and arriving to pick them up an hour early, which cuts his time with his kids on his time by 2 hours.
And there's really not anything he could do about that.
Very well said
I grew up in the Bay Area, and the restaurant they ate at "Bridges" is in Danville CA, 20 minutes from where I used to live, and grew up. Ate there a couple of times for my annivarsary. Sadly it's no longer there, at least it has a different owner, and a different name.

Good movie, Robin Williams what a true talent. R.I.P. ….. Thank you for sharing and see you at the movies 🤩🤩🤩👍

Added to list thanks
Nope, side gig. Long way to go before full time.
Hey bro, glad to hear you have been to San Francisco and liked it. The restaurant in the movie is a real restaurant called Bridges in a city called Danville that is a suburb San Francisco across the bay from San Francisco. I've eaten there before. It's a very good restaurant.
Cool, thanks
Great reaction! Your laugh is contagious!
Thank you so much
I hope you watch many more Robin Williams movies! We lost him tragically in 2014, and I miss him.
He's the voice of the genie in Disney's Aladdin, and there are lots of good comedies he's been in, but more than any other actor I can think of, he could do serious roles just as well as funny ones.
Highly recommend:
Good Will Hunting 1997 (the one that got him an Oscar)
Insomnia 2002 (one of his darker roles in a crime drama, top notch)
Thanks James, see you next time!
Thanks, I've added all these to my list. It's appreciated
Would also highly recommend The Birdcage staring Robin Williams & Nathan Lane, sooo good for some laughs 🙂

If you only know Robin Williams from Comic Relief in the 80's, you truly have been sheltered
I have been, books are me shelter
@@AwesomeUSMovies I just saw that on another reaction. Enjoy catching up on all the movies. Have you thought about doing books reactions?
Robin Williams has always been one of my favorite actors, favorite people. I'd always dreamed of meeting him someday. I am still extremely depressed over his loss and I'll never get that chance
That's sad

"... and Robin Williams is not in the poster." 😂😂
I have lots to learn
Thanks, I've added all these to my list. It's appreciated
I've read all the Hunger Games books, do they hold up?
The whole time!!!😂😂😂😂 another great one man✌

Absolutely must watches of his though are What Dreams May Come (98), Dead Poets Society (89), and Good Will Hunting (97). Honestly he has so many movies I could go on for a very long time. Also just to throw 1 more movie at you its a Jim Carrey movie and hands down his best movie its wholesome and hilarious is Liar Liar (97).
RIP
So many great Robin Williams movies, he has a special place in the heart of many but especially for people from my generation who grew up in the 90’s. Please add the movie “Hook” to your list if you haven’t seen it, it’s my favorite Robin Williams movie.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
