Wednesday comes from the nursery rhyme "Monday's Child" which says the attributes of each child based on the day they were born. Wednesday's name comes from the line in the poem "Wednesday's child is full of woe." For the Addams' that is a good thing.

My favorite family! The original show had subtle little jokes that had me rolling all the time. Like when a journalist came to their house. Hello, I'm Brown, from The Sun. Well, you certainly look it!
The kid whose mom wiped spit all over his face was also the little boy Dr. Grant horrified at the beginning of Jurassic Park. The sequel is even better!

I used to be in charge of the quarterly financial reporting for this film and the sequel while I worked for Paramount Pictures for ten years. Lady Colyton, Charles Addams’ widow and heir to his fortune, used to call and let me know anytime she was going on vacation, with her contact information “in case I should need to get ahold of her,” which there never was…for any client, really. It was cute, though. She spoke with very proper English accent and grammar, and was very polite. Most of the time when clients called me they were angry and wanted their money early, or more of it, so it was always a pleasant change to engage with her.
Charles Addams was a newspaper cartoonist. His creepy family is still brilliantly, darkly funny. They never had names until the studio approached him for the rights to make the TV show. He sold the rights with the requirement that he get to name the characters. A lot of the jokes in this movie are actually straight reproductions of Addams' original comic strips
The Addams Family started as a group of single panel comic strips in The New Yorker in the early 20th century. The draw of the family is that we all know how bizarre our own family can be behind closed doors. Wednesday is named Wednesday based on on old saying “Wednesday’s child is full of woe.”
Wednesday was named after a line in a poem. The poem describes a trait of kids born on each day of the week. This is why there’s a Star Trek episode entitled, “Friday’s Child”. The Addams Family originated from cartoons in The New Yorker magazine.

there have been several iterations of movies and tv shows. The other movie you must watch is the sequel Addam's Family Values most of the main cast returns for the sequel. this movie was a huge hit. After Raul Julia passed in 1994 (three years after this movie), any hopes of of a third sequel were dashed. Instead Addam's Family Reunion was released recasting the entire family with new actors. Tim Curry replaced Gomez. the movie was released direct to video and waspoorly recieved by critics and fans. the addams family was based on the comic strip of the same name that appeared in the new yorker in the 40s and 50s. initially the family had no names but were named once the tv show was developed. in the 60s series Gomez was played by John Astin and Morticia by Carolyn Jones.
Yay! This is the best of what I imagine the Addams Family to be. I love how each character is represented and interpreted. They are my forever Addams Family. There have been other renditions and interpretations of them, and the cartoon strip was not exactly this way, I know, but I love this version. I am so glad you loved it! So fun! It really is a great Halloween movie. Stay awesome!
I believe Wednesdays names comes from a nursery rhyme: " Monday's child is fair of face Tuesday's child is full of grace Wednesday's child is full of woe Thursday's child has far to go Friday's child is loving and giving Saturday's child works for its living And a child that's born on the Sabbath day Is fair and wise and good and gay"
Anjelica Huston comes from a Hollywood family. In 1985, they became the first three-generation family to win Oscars, when she won Supporting Actress. Her dad John Huston and grandfather Walter Huston both won in the directing and supporting actor category in 1948, for a film called "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre." Only one other family has done it since - Carmine Coppola, Francis Ford Coppola, and Sofia Coppola.
Glad to see someone react to this. Before I saw this movie for the first time, I just knew for sure that I wouldn’t like it. Of course I was wrong. I loved it.
Wednesday Adams - was likely named after a nursery rhyme containing the line “Wednesday's child is full of woe.” because she was born on a Wednesday. As for the "THREE" legs, yeah. go with that, but remember he is an ADAMS. 😉
This movie came out when I was 13, and Ioved it's quirky, dark humor. I still love it. It's been so long since I've seen the sequel, though, that I don't remember much about it. I think I'll do a rewatch reaction to it for Halloween.

Naming Wednesday: From an old rhyme: Monday's child is fair of face. Tuesday's child is full of grace. Wednesday's child is full of woe. Thursday's child has far to go. Friday's child is loving and giving. Saturday's child works hard for a living. And a child that is born on the sabbath day Is bonny, and blithe, and good, and gay. Wednesday is named after the Addams' family favorite day of the week.
I've had carolers come by the house maybe 2 or 3x.. and I've been one of the carolers going to other people's houses at least once that I can remember... another time we went around an old folk's home...
Thirty years old, and a well maintained Addams Family machine is worth a lot more than when it was bought new. Many consider it the best ever and I’m among those. “Straight to the Vault!”
Why Wednesday?🤗 It's from a poem: Monday’s child is fair of face Tuesday’s child is full of grace Wednesday’s child is full of woe Thursday’s child has far to go Friday’s child is loving and giving Saturday’s child works hard for his living and the child that is born on the Sabbath day Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
Definitely the best Addams Family material...arguably even better than the original TV series...and so many great performances in this one. So glad you are reacting to this! 💯💯
@@jean-paulaudette9246 I think you are right that the TV show holds up, no doubt about it. But where this movie is pretty consistently great all the way through, the original show has the same issue that all TV series do...not all episodes can be as good as others. I think there are probably episodes from the show that are even funnier than parts of this movie, but then there are others that are not as good. But I think you are definitely right that the original show is still great even to this day.✌✌💯💯
hhaha,,, the girl is called Wednesday Friday Adams... it's from a kids rhyme... Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace, Wednesday's child is full of woe, and so... but Friday makes no sense in this doomfull scheme

I believe Wednesdays names comes from a nursery rhyme:
" Monday's child is fair of face Tuesday's child is full of grace Wednesday's child is full of woe Thursday's child has far to go Friday's child is loving and giving Saturday's child works for its living And a child that's born on the Sabbath day Is fair and wise and good and gay"
Great movie, sequel is even better I think, rip Raul Julia he was super talented
Anjelica Huston comes from a Hollywood family. In 1985, they became the first three-generation family to win Oscars, when she won Supporting Actress. Her dad John Huston and grandfather Walter Huston both won in the directing and supporting actor category in 1948, for a film called "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre."
Only one other family has done it since - Carmine Coppola, Francis Ford Coppola, and Sofia Coppola.
Glad to see someone react to this.
Before I saw this movie for the first time, I just knew for sure that I wouldn’t like it. Of course I was wrong. I loved it.
It’s such a great movie showing a great family dynamic that just looks different. Thanks for watching this.
Another AWESOME reaction! We had so many great movies in the 90's!
Most definitely!
Omg please please watch the sequel adams family values. It's even better
This movie has only one flaw,
Lurch never asks “you rang?”
I grew up watching the Addams family on tv and was glad when this came out. Just a fun movie!
Angelica Huston’s father was a famous film director by the name of John Huston
Ricci is pronounced Ree Chee
Raul is pronounced Raw Ool
4:52 Thing is cheating 😆😆
There’s a part 2 called Addam’s Family Values
I love seeing you have a good time.
This was such a nice homage to the original series.and such a fun watch even if a bit dark in spots😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
Gonna add on to whatever everyone else has said, the sequel, Addams Family Values is as good as if not better then this one! Please watch ❤
Love this video!!!!! New sub+1
I recommend you the sequel
ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES

_my favorite Iconic Classic !_
Just because a movie is set during the Christmas season doesn't make it a Christmas movie.
Wednesday Adams - was likely named after a nursery rhyme containing the line “Wednesday's child is full of woe.” because she was born on a Wednesday. As for the "THREE" legs, yeah. go with that, but remember he is an ADAMS. 😉
Yes the "Wednesday Child " was with me all the time as a child. Love this idea. Brilliant 😊
Appreciated this
Actually, I always thought it was a kind of sly reference to an actress of that time: Tuesday Weld, who also has a day of the week as a first name.
@@galandirofrivendell4740 also a fantastic possibility!
15:48 not since Dumb and Dumber have I seen you laugh so hard that I thought you would pass out. LOL
loved it
Old memories from childhood! Good movie 🍿 ✌🏻☀️
This movie came out when I was 13, and Ioved it's quirky, dark humor. I still love it. It's been so long since I've seen the sequel, though, that I don't remember much about it. I think I'll do a rewatch reaction to it for Halloween.
The Addams Family live off grid in a mansion and they’re Royal. And yet he’s still paying the bills? That’s strange.
"they're creepy and they're cooky mysterious and spokky the addams family"
You definitely need to watch Addams Family Values! It's ten times better! lol Not that this one isn't great, but AFV is totally hilarious!
I grew up with the original TV show. This is even better. Raoul Julia and Angelica Houston are a perfect match.
If your actually looking for any other movie like older ones. The Shadow is a great one can still be found on youtube and amazon I believe has Alec Baldwin in it and many great actors. Underrated super hero movie.
I love this movie I really hope you watch the second one❤
Check out Dracula dead and lovin it. Mel brooks films
Always loved this movie. Also the animated show and the old black and white show too. Hope you watch the sequel. It's even better. 🖤
you are always making car comments! man after my own heart. may I suggest you make a car movie poll? There are some great car movies (outside fast and furious)
Thanks for the idea!
This one was good, but second one is really good.
That’s Princess Wednesday Addams and she would fit in perfectly at Monster High.
Would love to see you do Part 2
Remember the girl scout girl who sells real girl scout cookies if you plan to watch Adamas family Values which they show the baby.
Addams Family Values!
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
@13:37 this review is hilarious with subtitles. "That's an even pasta" "Who calls me a villain breaks my penis" 😂
You should react to Denise the Menace. Another good one is The little rascals from 1994
Problem child
Naming Wednesday: From an old rhyme:
Monday's child is fair of face.
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe.
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving.
Saturday's child works hard for a living.
And a child that is born on the sabbath day
Is bonny, and blithe, and good, and gay.
Wednesday is named after the Addams' family favorite day of the week.
Awesome thanks for that
I've had carolers come by the house maybe 2 or 3x.. and I've been one of the carolers going to other people's houses at least once that I can remember... another time we went around an old folk's home...
That's very nice of you. love it
Do you really not know why she is called WEDNESDAY?
It's from the famous poem... "Wednesday's child is full of woe"
Duh....
The tv series from the 60s, was really GOOD 👍🤗👻
What a fun movie for the Halloween season. Love your reactions, James. Very proud of how far the channel has come.
Thanks so much!
Glad u enjoyed this movie....its one of my favorites! U gotta watch the sequel, its just as good! 😉
"But I DIDN'T hate my mother, it was an accident!"
Have you seen Monster Squad? If not, it’s a fun Halloween movie.
One of the best pinball machines was based on this movie. When you got multi-ball, it would have Gomez saying "greed" before it spit the balls out.
OMG, I love pinball machines. I'll have to look it up. My favorite is a fishing one. Fish Tales

Thirty years old, and a well maintained Addams Family machine is worth a lot more than when it was bought new. Many consider it the best ever and I’m among those. “Straight to the Vault!”
This film is brillianty insane.
I dunno...I think the TV series still holds up pretty well. Or maybe it's just that I have a huge crush on Carolyn Jones (Morticia).
But I think you are definitely right that the original show is still great even to this day.✌✌💯💯
Great movie, based on a great TV show. I enjoyed your reaction to it, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
you gotta see the sequel...Adams Family Values
Always watching here fam ❤
I appreciate that
The I Love Lucy episode where she said sh was expecting was controversial because how do you have a baby if shown sleep in separate beds.
hhaha,,, the girl is called Wednesday Friday Adams... it's from a kids rhyme...
Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
and so... but Friday makes no sense in this doomfull scheme
For the vault combination, Wednesday has an extra toe on one foot.
Really.. never knew
Nice to laugh along again with you fella
