Insane, batshit investments. It's canon that he makes a tremendous amount of money on crocodile farms, abandoned buildings, etc. Pretty much anything that SHOULDN'T return on investment, in fact, does so spectacularly if Gomez is involved. He's supposedly in the top 10 wealthiest characters in fiction, behind Scrooge McDuck.
So he’s basically a fictional version of Timothy Dexter? Nice

I mean, yeah, they were meant to be a parody or mock of the basic family sitcoms were everybody hates eachother and the "uhg i hate my wife!" jokes, so they ended up being a very passionate and over all healty marriage, and a communicative family

This family is goals. Gomez and Morticia are still madly in love, they care about their family, they fully support their children, they're financially well-off, and just all kinds of their own brand of wonderful. 🥰 Oh, and they even give to charity!
As a kid that kinda grew up in a not so nice house hold it was refreshing to see something other than the cookie cutter life is rainbows in the technicolor sense. Idk but deff. Check out family values oi!

Also, Angelica Huston and Christina Ricci absolutely killed it in this amazing movie!

But that did not stop it from being one of the best known late 20th century urban myths (along with Nostradamus, Area 51, crop circles, Loch Ness monster, yetis etc.) and being referenced in tons of shows

@@whade62000 Yeah, the accidents that happened there were pretty much the same compared to accidents that happened in other waters and a decent amount of the boat ones were because of inexperienced sailors
this movie and family values were my favourites as a kid! i never liked the way that families were portrayed so unattainably perfect. I always thought that no matter how weird i was i would always have a place with the addams family :) also i knew i shouldn't do any of the dangerous shit they did in the movie but i still loved seeing the creativity.

The Addams family are a parody of the average sitcom family (who try to appear the perfect family while they secretly hate each other), with the catch being they actually adore each other. Gomez and Morticia truly and absolutely love each other and are supportive and caring of their kids, and you can really get the sense that despite their unusual activities, Wednesday and Pugsly do love each other.
the morticia makeup, with just the center of her face/eyes in the light, formed the aesthetics and beauty ideals of SO MANY pre-teen girls, myself included lol
I've always felt weird /outcast even as a kid so I felt that I can relate to them in some way. I love the Adams Family so anything Adams Family I'm into. I even watched the Craft when I was kid and I wasn't suppose to, but I still watched it lol 🖤

I love this movie. The cast is perfect. You should absolutely watch the sequel, "Addams Family Values". I actually like it more then the first one. Love them both.

I watched this movie as a kid in the 90s and I don't remember thinking anything was off. I loved how weird it was then (as I do now) and I thought the family was interesting. They all seemed to love each other in their own way. Especially Morticia and Gomez. I didn't think twice about how... sexual they were. Haha. I just thought they loved each other very, very much. I also thought they were great parents. They accepted Pugsley and Wednesday for who they were and encouraged them.
And yes! Watch the second one.
You MUST watch the sequel here!! The Addams Family movies are so important to those who don’t fit in to happy go lucky bullshit of “normal” people. They accept others and enjoy the base emotions that were so antithetical to whatever decade the show or movie is set in. Most kids do go through a homicidal phase, these movies let me know it wasn’t strange. More media should acknowledge it and show healthy outlets for such urges. Like that sweet sword fight with actual battle damage and blood! That was amazing!!
Absolutely love these movies. The sequel was cool too. Joan Cusack is in it and she does a phenomenal job.
I grew up watching reruns of the 60s television show and laughed my ass off! John Astin and Carolyn Jones were so damn good (and she was absolutely gorgeous, to boot). If you get a chance, I'd highly recommend giving the series a shot. As far as the movies go, Raul Julia definitely left his mark on the character of Gomez and Christina Ricci was absolutely marvelous as Wednesday! Love the Addams Family.
Same here. As a small child I watched the animated show, then these movies when they were released (the second one really but still) and then reruns of the original show as a teenager. I just love them.

I only found the tv show in the last few years, but I actually like it better than the movies! (Aside from the random racist and a few sexist moments, of course) In both, I love how devoted and loving Morticia and Gomez are. They are so perfect. And the fact that John Astin was the one who wanted to have Gomez be madly in love with Morticia and act like it, makes it even better!

This is based on the TV series from the 1960's(which is amazing) which was based on a series of single panel cartoons, originally released in the New Yorker, created by Charles Addams in the 1930's. So it's been around for almost 100 years! Worth your time to check out both the comics and the tv series!
Yaaasssss!! Love that you finally got to experience this! Such a classic. And I am certainly in favor of you watching Addams Family Values, but I suggest watching it for/in honor of Thanksgiving. There’s a great Turkey Day tie-in with that one.

How did we react as children to this movie?
I saw it years after it first came out but went as Wednesday Addams at 7 years old for Halloween, both neighborhood trick-or-treat and school. We STANNED.
Mrs. Adams is the best mom. And Wednesday I love her even though she scares me sometimes.
Addams. The Addams Family is based on New Yorker cartoons done starting in the 1930s and ending in the 1980s by Charles Addams. He also wrote some books about them. It also had 3 seasons as a TV series in the early 60s, and is still in syndication today.

The second one is ICONIC you gotta watch it, a very successful sequel (better than the first one if u ask me) There’s also a really famous thanksgiving scene in that movie and it would be very seasonally appropriate
As a kid, who saw this at 4, it was really affective at getting me interested in the occult. While the violence and stuff was obviously played up for laughs, I loved how strange and weird the family was and how they just embraced who they were. But my favorite thing in the movie was Morticia’s and Gomez’s relationship. As a hopeless romantic who hates how romance is often portrayed, I loved how these two fed off each other and seemed to really enjoy being together.
Addams Family Values is just perfection. So excited.

My parents were going through a divorce when this came & to be honest the relationship between gomez & mortica gave me hope to have a relationship like they have, when I first saw this I fully enjoyed this. This what got me into goth & other unusual things such as Beetlejuice & all that, I wondered how they did the blood thing at the school play.
I saw the Addams family musical years ago and I loved it! I’ve always been a big Addams family fan so it was very enjoyable.
Your question of how they have all that money is, Gomez makes investments as well as having many different businesses around the world. A crocodile farm, a tombstone factory, a salt and uranium mine and I think some others

The hand-Thing wasn't CGI but achieved by a number of practical puppets. Some of them are hand puppets, the one pulling a cart was a single-piece remote-controlled model etc.
That is so cool but also I’m assuming ridiculously challenging to pull off!
I grew up on the old TV show with Gomez Addams played by Samwise Gamgee's dad. (This was based on an old cartoon from the 1930s.) We were all interested to see if the movie matched our expectations from the TV show. We were satisfied. You should watch the second movie. It's even better than this one in my estimation. It even includes the newest addition of the family.
i loved this movie as a child and my mom did too so she would dress me up as Wednesday and herself as Morticia. we have a very dark sense of humor. fun fact: Anjelica Huston played Morticia because the character looks just like her own mother!

To answer your questions... I watched this in around 1995 when I was 7. I was an easily frightened kid but this never bothered me. I think because it was SO over the top and because none of the danger felt real.
And The Bermuda Triangle is an urban legend on par with Roswell. Basically it's a small triangle of ocean where ships famously vanish without trace.
Adams! I was like 10 when this came out, definitely a childhood favourite. You should totally watch the sequel. 🎃

I know this is late, but I absolutely loved this movie as a child (and still do) but then again I was a "weird" girl. Absolutely obsessed with mummies for starters, I could explain the whole mummification process in all it's gruesome details lol
Predictably the Mummy is one of my all-time favorites (that movie actually scared me a lot too, it's not really horror but it was the first "horror-adjacent" movie that my parents let me watch)
I was like 7 when this movie came out, and I loved it. It's only gotten funnier as I've grown older and started to understand more of the jokes. Around the same time, Nick-at-Nite was airing reruns of the classic sitcom and a new Saturday morning cartoon had come out. The Addams Family holds a special place in my heart.
in the 60s series of Addams Family Fester had the ability to light light bulbs in his mouth so it was just something his character could do he also continuously electrocuted himself to charge up his trick, the Lightning from the book brings back his memories and recharges him. Fester had lost his memories in the Bermuda Triangle after getting struck by lightning and tangling in a fishing net
As a kid when I first watched this, I thought it was so cool the different things the Addams' set up in order to get to the family vault. Very funny and elaborate security system. Also, the sword fight at the play freaked me out ha ha.
This and Casper (1995) was some of my favorite Halloween movies when I was a kid 😁
i loved both these movies as a kid plus we also had the animated series based of it runing on cartoon network back then with classic shows as johnny bravo, dexter, powerpuff, iam weasel cow and chiken and many more was a great time for tv and movies

There is a theory that there is like a curse or opposite of a curse where an Adams family member can't harm one another on purpose... Like they try, but their efforts don't succeed for this reason or that reason... I haven't looked much into it, but in Adams Family Values you can kind of see what I am talking about with the baby...
Love The Addams Family. I related to Wednesday so much as the "goth" kid (not by my definition but according to others) growing up. I was just into dark things/clothes and seemed annoyed at anybody who was outgoing or preppy so that's understandable. 😅 I still love the goth aesthetic. Now I like to think I've grown up to be more of a Morticia lol. This one is awesome and the second movie is even better. 🖤

I don’t think any one answered the Bermuda Triangle thing but basically it’s just an area in the ocean that boats used to get lost in enough that it’s considered a cursed place to avoid. Of course it turns out it just has a weird magnetic thing going on that messes with traditional compasses so it’s a bit less mysterious now.
As a kid, I thought I'd found my true family. Being the poor, fat kid at school I felt vindicated. I found out my grandma's maiden name was Adams (only one 'D'). She told me that I already was an Adams, so not to worry. Best gift she ever gave me, the gift of acceptance. To be spooky and ghoulish and wicked but still be kind, generous and compassionate. To this day, I am, an Ad(d)ams.

There was a time when a bunch of ships went missing mysteriously or shipwrecked in the Bermuda Triangle leading it to be nicknamed "The Devil`s Triangle".
16:00 I was in the musical 8th grade and watched it at the highschool while my cousin was in the symphony (I was a kid). I didn't like it as much as a kid because it felt less Addams family, but it was fun to be in and I feel I understood it better
As a kid, I loved this movie. So did my parents. I loved Wednesday and Morticia. My mom was a fan of Cousin It and would mimic him with her long brown hair and glasses for a giggle.
As a kid (it was shown almost every year on free-tv and I was maybe 10 or 11 when I first watched it) I adored this movie. I wanted to be Wednesday. So I started to part my hair in the middle and tried styling my bangs like hers. Good times.

Did anyone else have that channel on TV that played old black and white shows? I watched the Addams family and the Munsters. So great! For the time they were on, it was such a funny social commentary. A loving family despite being the opposite of everything 'normal'. A doting affectionate husband, who was goofy and couldn't drive, and a strong sensual wife who ran the house. The kids were actually homeschooled and Uncle Fester wasn't Gomez's brother. He was actually his uncle.

rewatching these movies through reactions makes me feel more like a "me" I recognize. I LOVE everything about this movie. I think I wanted to be Wednesday a lot. My idea of ideal marriage looks scarily similar to Gomez and Mortitia's. As far as changing by at-home behavior after seeing it, no change. Maybe I should be more into Halloween. There may be a network of "my people" there

I wasn't born when this film came out...but my father loves this movie and the whole Addams family franchise! So When I was old enough (I was about 5 or 6 years old), he made me watch the cartoon and then the film and...I fell in love! I liked watching this kind of stuff (I also loved Courage, the Cowardly Dog and that show is...something XD). I simply love the whole concept!

16:03 Just make sure you see the one that's like the original broadway production (not the Chicago production, that one needed a lot of work). The Broadway production has both 'Crazier than you' and 'In the Arms' (short for 'In the arms of a squid') for two individual couples, not just sharing 'Crazier than you' between two couples.

Super late to this video, but I did watch this movie as a kid and I absolutely loved it. I watched Beetlejuice when I was a kid too. Wednesday and Lydia were the type of girl I wanted to be 😂 I was always a huge horror fan my entire life, so these movies were some of my favorite and still are.
Great reaction 😁 and you got to experience the More Mamushka version for your first viewing! The original release had a very cut down version of the musical number.
In the original cartoon, ‘Thing’ was an arm in a box. It becomes a hand in the movie.
When I first watched it, I didn’t like it because all I know is you have to be normal or else. Now I love it and I got the jokes now. Love how much love goes in that family.
