I hope this practice helped your lower back feel GREAT! For another 10-minute low back pain practice, you might like to try this one as well: ruclips.net/video/HZ5GNs0HTqw/видео.html Well done! 🌟
Hi Joëlle, enjoyed this QL practice. The beauty of your 10 min routines is that in 30 mins, I was able to work on 3 different areas of my body that are asking to be worked on. Today I did the neck and quad routines in addition to QL! Thanks again🙏🏼
Hi Joelle, I discovered your channel about a month ago and I really love your 10 minute videos for various parts of the body. I’m less intimidated by short practices and I’ve slowly been able to do more and more by combining several of these for a little longer practice that focuses on the areas I need to work on. I suffer from low back and tailbone pain, so those videos have become almost daily for me-and now I’m also working my way through the chakras. Thank you so much!
I'm so happy to hear this Holly! Well done to you for figuring out what works best for you and sticking to it. And welcome to the community, so glad to have you here!
I am so grateful to have found this series, and you! I love the specific exercises for certain muscles, I had never heard of the QL until today, but boy did it need this. Thank you!
Day 2 Release 😉 Joelle, I have been practicing with you for a couple of months now, and this is my first time commenting. I have fibromyalgia and find your 10-20 minute videos perfect for gentle stretching and pain relief. This particular video is one of my favorites. I have had significant lower back, pelvic, and hip pain on my left side for 2 1/2 years, and this video made me aware that my QL is very tight. Thank you for educating me and helping me to find some relief! I love all your lower back and hip videos and try to do at least a couple each day. When I am having a really bad day, I will attempt to get through one and love hearing you say that "10 minutes a day, even if that's all we've got, can really make a difference." Thanks for that encouragement! 😊
Thank you for such a lovely comment, Heather! It's exactly this type of story that puts a smile on my face and makes me want to keep making videos 😊 I'm so happy you find these practices helpful and that you're learning what your body needs along the way. A huge gold star to you for staying consistent and taking good care of yourself! 🌟
Wow, thank you! I thought I knew anatomy pretty well, but I had never run across practices that addressed this specific muscle--and it is definitely where most of my low back tightness resides. This was super useful.
You're very welcome! The QL is one of those muscles most of us rarely think about, and yet it can be such a contributor to the health of our lower back - good for you for trying something new!
This practice has a lot of unique moves which stretch the QL. There are not many yoga vids out there which address the QL. Great work and I love it and so grateful for this! Would you be able to do a Part 2! That would be heaven sent ❤️🙏
I'm so glad you liked it! You might like to try my 3-day series for the lower back to see if you pick up a few extra moves 😉 You can find it here: lowback.joellefixson.com
I cannot thank you enough for these 10min classes! I use them after work to reset myself for home💗 This one really hit the spot for me tonight💫 Thank you
Hi Kelly!! Should've known we'd be drawn to the same yoga instructor! I am so happy I discovered Yoga with Joelle! I appreciate her excellent verbal cues. so nice to run across a friend online!
Thank you, Joelle, for this VERY effectively focused session. It's been so long since I studied our essential friends, the QL. I had forgotten, too, that they help in our breathing process. This short but useful practice was perfect~!!! We send you thanks!!!
Thank you so much for creating this video. I had no idea how much this QL area had been neglected in my yoga practice. I have fibromyalgia and this area often hurts & I've had consistent spasms in my lower back for months now, but no relief from other lower back yoga videos. These stretches felt amazing and targeted the exact area I didn't even know I needed to target. Thank you again for your work! Namaste
This flow was fantastic. I'm recovering from an injury in the sacrum from heavy lifting and also have standing job where I'm on my feet for 8 hours, and found that I'm over compensating with my QL muscle. This is going to help me significantly tend to my body through the weeks. Some unique stretches I have not seen before that felt so wonderful. Thank you!
Joelle, I strained my lower right back ~5 weeks ago. This video was my only relief, so I was 'stretching' up to 4 times/day. I couldn't keep up the first week, nor could I do all of the poses due to the pain. I recovered full mobility ~2 weeks ago and was able to resume normal exercise. I've added your videos to the end of my normal workouts. Thanks for the 28-Day challenge videos, daily picks are easy, no thinking required.
This is so nice to hear Stephanie, thank you for the comment. Good for you for being patient and listening to what your body needed. And I'm very happy to hear you're enjoying the 28-day challenge too! 🌟
Day 2 Release! Thanks again Joelle!! I don’t recall doing this but have already liked it so I must’ve done it. Thanks to the challenge for bringing me back here. It was a good one! Will look for more to add today. Hope you’re enjoying your holiday break!
This QL practice is so helpful, especially during the winter when my QL starts to ache. Would love to have more QL practices, especially a QL strengthening practice. This is the area of my body that seems to hurt the most in winter. I love all your lower back pain practices, but this one is helping me a lot now. Thank you Joelle!
Thank YOU! I'm really glad you like it. We talk quite a bit about the QL in my lower back workshop if that's of interest : yoga-with-joelle.teachable.com/p/workshop-low-back
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your practice. So many of your yoga stretches have been wonderful. And your voice direction is calming. But more than the calming I can often just listen to you and know exactly what I'm to do. Thank you
Wow! Thank you Joelle for this amazing short lower back video! I have watched 100's of these and this one has to be one of the best I've came across, I'm adding it to my favorites and going to come back to this one weekly. So many juicy stretches for the hips, sides and lower back.
I loooove your 10 minute practices. I never miss a day because 10 minutes is so accessible. You’re so creative - that knees-together cat cow really hit the spot!!! You are such a gift to us all. You’ve made my life immeasurably better. ❤
Thank you Joelle. Very good practice. I'll put some up like this myself, to compliment, not compete! I'm much older but it's great to see how we can learn from one another. Thank you! I have been doing a lot of core strength work and my low back is gradually healing from alignment issues (I also write and sit a lot for long periods which is a hard self-sabotage!). Thanks again. Much appreciated.
These vids are awesome. I get so tight and sore from martial arts, but I have no patience for yoga generally. Breaking it down into 10 min sessions is perfect. Actually starting to enjoy it 👍
Quite like this one. Love the forward fold turtle pose, especially with arms under the legs. Almost every time I stretch my right leg to the side (like at 7:30), the outside of the right hip cramps. I assumed it's IT band related, but I have been doing the IT videos and it still does it.
Great job Katrina! IT bands can definitely be stubborn so I'd say that's not unusual. It might help to add in some clamshell exercises using an elastic band, those can really help strengthen the area.
You're very welcome Lya! If you'd like I have a mini-challenge for low back discomfort that you may like to join me for (it's free) 😉 You can find it here: tinyurl.com/k65c8r5b

Ahhhhh!!! This practice was sooooo releasing for all the tension I have had in my lower back, I coupled this with one if your hip practices and let me say my lower body hasnt felt this loose and free in such a long time! Thank youuuu
I absolutely love these videos. I have fibromyalgia as well and these videos are helping me so much. Do you have a video for inner thigh pain? I’d love some deep stretches to help loosen this area! Thank you for making these amazing videos. I’ll see you back on the mat!
Hi Jacalynn, so glad you're enjoying them! I have several for inner thighs (if you search "yoga with joelle adductors" on RUclips I believe they should all come up), and I'd probably recommend starting with this one to see how it feels: ruclips.net/video/jEE-D7sTNpk/видео.html Hope they can help!
I have Bertolotti syndrome and tons of other issues in my lower back area and this really helps me finding mobility and relieves pain. Thank you so much!
sending lots of incredible energy. I'm sitting up much straighter after a big QL release. I'll keep at it. 5 years, maybe I'll finally find peace this year. Bless.
Hi Joelle this was so perfect for me. I've had pain in my lower back and back of my hips. I did your piriformis and SI practices but felt I was getting nowhere the pain & stiffness wasn't clearing up. I didn't know what was wrong then came across this one thought oh give it a go. My word I feel looser and pain is less. Thank so much for sharing this one. I will see if you have any more for the QL so I can swap about until it completely clears up ❤
Sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing. In the meantime, if you search "yoga with joëlle lower back pain" on RUclips, you will find a couple that may be helpful. I hope this continues to help 🙏 🙏
I've found some videos that describe good exercises for the QL, but I'd love a video I can follow along with rather than pausing and doing them all by myself
This was an amazing release!! Everyone in the health and fitness community keeps stressing about "hip flexors" I stretch and strengthen mine but my hips are still tight with limited mobility, until I did a 10-15 minute QL stretch. My hips have not been tight or stinging for days!! The longest in years. About to watch this practice again. Would love to see more QL practices, thank you Joelle, you are an amazing teacher and many of your Videos have some fresh out the box movements, I love it 💓
Thank you so much! I'm really glad this one felt good for you 😊 There is a HUGE link between the lower back and the hips for sure - and the QL is in my opinion 1 of the 4 key muscles around why we get tight or feel pain in these areas. If you're ever interested in diving in deeper on this, we go through more exercises and movements to assess the QL in my Secrets of the Lower Back workshop: tinyurl.com/2s3sknzh
Thanks so much for this Joelle and keep them coming! First time I have seen the "turtle" pose and I feel like that works so well for me. We appreciate your great work!
Day 2 Release -- Well, who knew? You're right I didn't even know about this muscle and I did feel a good stretch. I'm not sure when Day 2 arrived in my in-box, but sure glad it did! Thanks Joelle. Going to do this other lower back practice you have tagged here as well. I may need to ask you to explain a few postures/poses for me. I got confused yesterday on a lower back practice about the entire sphinx sequence. But, I adore your detailed cues!
Felt great.i hav tight hips and after doing this practice i cud bend a little more further to the sides.thank u.pls di more videos on neck and middle bac too.
Glad this felt great! I have a few recent videos on neck and midback (ruclips.net/video/DQ8GunkbqXA/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/gI6cmS7WWd4/видео.html) in case you haven't tried them already!
Day 2 release. I have suffered with what feels like something going into a spasm just below my ribs on the left side for about 4 years now. It happens when I bend to put shoes on or twist to the left if I'm reaching for something. The doctor said nothing was wrong. For 2 years now I have had hip and lower back pain and I'm wondering if it's to do with the QL muscle. This video definitely helped the lower back pain. Thank you
I’m so happy you did this! My back has been hurting for months and I had no idea where the pain started or what it was. Now I know it’s the QL and it feels so much better already. Thank you so much 😊 xxxx
@@YogawithJoelle And I found your channel through the video for hip bursitis, which helped a bit and then did the 28 day challenge. It’s amazing how much better your body can feel with just 10 to 20 minutes yoga a day 🧘♀️😍🙏
@@sarahp3922 Ooooh, I wish I could print out this comment and laminate it! That is EXACTLY what I am hoping people will get out of practicing with me, and I'm so glad you feel the same way!!

If you're ever interested in diving in deeper on this, we go through more exercises and movements to assess the QL in my Secrets of the Lower Back workshop: tinyurl.com/2s3sknzh
Brilliant ❤
Thank you for joining me ✨
Thanks so much for this Joelle and keep them coming! First time I have seen the "turtle" pose and I feel like that works so well for me. We appreciate your great work!
You're welcome Steve, thanks for your kind words! Turtle is one of my favorites too, I'll have to work it into some upcoming practices again!
So glad you learned something about this sneaky little QL muscle!! Thanks for joining me, and of course, happy to help with any questions if I can :)

Thank you so much for your kind words! 🙏
Thank you
I'm so glad it helped Denise
@@YogawithJoelle Would any of the hip pain routines help with hip impingement? Thanks
@@denisethomson9415 I'm sorry, but that's not something I know much about
I’m so happy you did this! My back has been hurting for months and I had no idea where the pain started or what it was. Now I know it’s the QL and it feels so much better already. Thank you so much 😊 xxxx
My pleasure Sarah - so happy you figured this out, the QL can be a source of tension for so many of us! 😉
Thank you, this was great! Does it matter with which side I start when my problems are only on one side?
Thanks for joining me! Not necessarily, but I would recommend following the suggested sides from the video to avoid getting confused 😉
I didn't know what the QL was, but I know now! It could do with some stretching...
Well done! The QL is one of those muscles most of us never think about ... but once you know, you know!!
Day2 release! ❤️🙏
Amazing job Maria ! 🙏
Hello, really enjoed your video. Do you have any videos for TFL strengthening & hip flexor relief?
Glad you liked it! I've got quite a few, so I would suggest you search "Yoga with Joelle hip flexors" or "Yoga with Joelle IT band" on RUclips and they should all come up! Here's a hip flexor one to get you started: ruclips.net/video/1v0qL8DOqe0/видео.html
I’m going to do these every day, thank you. My right side is very tight due to holding my daughter on the left side causing a hip imbalance.
Thanks for sharing Suzi! Hope this can be beneficial for you! 😊
Thank you! You are beautiful!
My right QL muscle have been tight in a year and a half now... I don't have any pain, but it feels like my legs are uneven. Hope this will work..
I hope you enjoyed it Cecilie!
Day 2 Release! :)
Great job Tony !
Day 2 Release
Great job!!
I missed yesterday.
No worries Sara, I saw your other comment - great job finishing the challenge!
This is what I need. Dining room chairs were not designed for 10+ hour work days.
I couldn't agree more - well done!!
