- Find out what changes when you install a downpipe.
Welcome to my channel this is Doug Machado, I'm a certified BMW technician and a Drift driver. I've been a mechanic since I was 12 years old, I started when I lived in Brazil, where I was born and raised to the age of 17 years old and then came to the U.S. I worked at independent mechanic shops in the U.S until I turned 21 and worked at BMW dealerships until the age of 28, and I now started my own business. On this channel you'll see modified cars, drift contents/builds, mechanical jobs and tricks, high performance cars upgrades. Please make sure to subscribe if you want to join me on this journey as I grow.
Lets install a downpipe on this B58, and find out why you need a downpipe for more power and what differences it'll make in your engine's performance.

The F32 is a thing of beauty

👊🏽👊🏽
Awesome content man! Keep it up and you’ll get big fast 💪
With you guys help and support I have no doubt brother, thanks for the positivity 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thx for the video but would have like to see more of the actual work needed to replace the pipe; ie., how difficult it was to take the sensors off as far as effort and space. And the 'DME sent out?' What does that mean and what does that entail? Does this pipe change/void the warrantee? Does it change the ability to pass inspection? Would to hear more about these things and less about how the cat works and why. Thx
very good, concise video...
what year was this 440? want to tune mine but don't know if the dme needs to be unlocked
This one is a 2018 but the year doesn’t really matter, in this case I believe this car was programmed at the dealer with a new software either for a repair or a recall, and the new software comes with the dme locking
Would this now be better on fuel? Great video by the way mate
Thank you bro, and no it would increase fuel consumption since there’s more air flowing in the car will automatically inject more fuel to be a perfect mixture air/fuel
Great video
Thank you bro 🙏🏽🙏🏽 hit that subscribe button 😉😉
Good content, but I'm a bit confused. If we just add the downpipe, will we need to do something to the ecu?
Yeah ecu needs to be tuned, and remember this is illegal on the streets, it’s for track only.
How do you get the dme unlocked?
This is a dumb question but if you go for a catless down pipe, will that be a problem with emission inspection n all?
Absolutely ! Catless is only recommended for the track
Hi Doug,
I maybe buying one of the 440i 6 speed, is the original clutch good enough for a DP and TUNE or at least JB4 and DP?
Thank you
Yeah you should be fine, but take into consideration depending on the mileage you’re getting the clutch may have some wear already
@@dougmbmw Thank you, of course.
What clutch would u recommend beside OEM when time comes to swap.
Anything favorite of yours ??
@@gshamptons with just a down pipe and tune you’ll be ok with the stock one it’ll hold up, but for me besides OEM there’s a few brands I like, clutch masters (which is what I got for the drift m3 I’m building) also there’s ACT I like
You will start to slip around 450whp so like e30 e40 I will slip ur clutch
