When ceramic coating goes bad 🙄

    In this video we discuss the unfortunate situation our new customer had with another installer (no names mentioned) and what we at Aegis Armors did to try and change the bad experience he had into a positive experience.
    Our customer took his vehicle to an auto detailer for paint correction and ceramic coating. Upon pick up the customer said the car looked clean and shiny, but once he had a few days to look over it outside in the sunlight, he started noticing a lot of what he thought were imperfections under the coating. At that point he called Aegis Armors and asked if we would mind taking a look at his car and evaluating the work that was performed.
    As soon as we shined our correction lights on it, you could see areas that were not paint corrected at all, and the areas that were corrected, were not corrected to the level needed to apply ceramic coating. No car is going to have perfect paint, but one of the many benefits of ceramic coatings is how they amplify the surface, that's why the surface prep is so important, especially on black vehicles where imperfections are most noticeable.
    We ended up doing a 3 stage paint correction (first stage to remove the ceramic coating), then 2 more stages of correction to bring the paints appearance to a level that was suitable for application of ceramic coating. We also removed his wheels, cleaned the gigantic Brembo brake calipers and applied our AA HD Ceramic wheel coating to the calipers and wheels. All the exterior paint and door jambs were coated as well as the glass/plastics.
    One of the things we do here at Aegis Armors is stay in contact with our customers during the time we are working on the vehicle, sending pics of problems we find, then calling to discuss their options, and finally, we send before and after pics of the problem areas.
    We met the customer at the shop on a Sunday morning and went around the entire vehicle with the correction lights so he could see exactly what we were able to do with the paint before applying the ceramic coating. He was exceptionally happy with what he saw and is now very happy with the look of his Challenger.
    Check out the video and let us know your thoughts in the comments below. If you have any questions regarding the ceramic coating process, feel free to give us a call at 336-570-9790.

      You're welcome. We're just trying to educate the consumer as these coatings grow in popularity. Customers need to fully understand most of the cost is in the prep of the surface, not the actual coating. Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully you will be all about the paint prep before the coating. it really does make a HUGE difference in the final product.

    Shame about the music overlay on the conversation, makes it difficult to hear.

      Thank you for the feedback. I'm still learning about recording videos and obviously not near as proficient with the video editing as we are with paint correction and coatings. For the moment, we're just trying to be a little more educational regarding coatings and the prep process that should be completed prior to ceramic application. Our newer videos get a little better...lol

    Recording in a room that has lots of echo without a dedicated mic, kill the damn music overlay... Makes it too hard to hear what you're saying.

    Did the previous detailer coat over the water spotting?

      Yes, unfortunately we're seeing this type of work more often. A lot of companies that are doing ceramic coatings aren't "paint correcting and then polishing"...they simply wash, hopefully decontaminate then polish the paint and coat, leaving all the imperfections under the coating. We've noticed that online marketing targeted to detailers seem to be pushing that process...polish instead of correct. It's unfortunate for the entire coating industry IMO

    Is ceramic coat even worth applying on a car?

    • @aegisarmors
      @aegisarmors  Год назад

      Oh absolutely it's worth it. Just the fact that it's such a huge time savings in keeping the vehicle clean as most of the time you can do a "no touch" wash with an electric pressure washer and dry with a leaf blower. Plus the vehicles look better than new for years to come which should have a positive effect on re-sale value. Check out this video on no touch washing: ruclips.net/video/-N5bpL1S6zs/видео.html

      My apologies regarding the sound quality. Was still pretty new to editing videos and on my laptop it sounded fine but once I watched on TV I realized how muted it was. The audio quality is much better on our more recent vids.
