    HSK 6 non native. I specialize in supply chain management (供应链管理和及时产生系统)。 To anyone struggling with Chinese, dont give up! It took about 8 years to hit that level of fluency. Focus on context and on longer passages to understand how certain characters are used and that will absolutely increase retention.

    Without a doubt the most intelligent and useful presentation of measure words that I have ever seen. Dividing it thematically and then showing how a given measure applies in different categories really helps bring home the meaning.!!!!

    The voice is relaxing, the sentences are not too artificial. The pictures are appropriate. The colouring of words is great.
    Pretty good overall. I would just have like to be able to directly read the Chinese sentence while reading the English one (it's much too slow, I read the English one 4x faster).
    Also, it would have been nice to display the measure words concerned during the whole session instead of one by one at the beginning.

    *TOO FAST?* Control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video *5% at a time* on *desktop computers and laptops* OR *25% at a time* on *smartphones!*
    Access the playback speed controls as follows:
    *Desktop Computers and Laptops:* open the video, then go to the *lower right* of the video's screen and click on the *settings icon* (it looks like a GEAR). On the upper right of the options window that comes up, you will see the link *"custom".* Click on the "custom" link to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time.
    *Smartphones:* open the video and go to the *upper right* of the video's screen. You will see *3 dots.* Click on them and you will see the link to open the *"playback speed"* controls. Click on this link and you will be able to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 25% at a time. Note that viewing the video on desktop computer/laptops gives you *greater control* over the playback speed (5% vs 25% on smartphones).

    • @jfrv2244
      @jfrv2244 6 лет назад +1

      Pritam kumar you can look up for “Chinese character frequency list”. it was made by a university department. In that list, the first 1000 characters make up for approximately 90% of texts, the second thousand characters extend that percentage till 97% or so.... but learning this 2000 character is really useless, you need to learn words not characters by themselves, as nowadays mandarin words are, in a great part, disyllabic in structure, and knowing isolated characters don’t help, you can sometimes understand every single character in a sentence but nonetheless are unable to understand its meaning.

    Again, amazing content.
    again, would like more shorter videos. 20 minutes is about the max of my attention span. 10 minutes I would watch the video 3 times. 5 minutes I would probably watch it 4 times. Each section could be made into their own movies..

    • @MandarinCorner2
      @MandarinCorner2  6 лет назад +7

      Hi Yamspaine, yes we understand your point about the video being long BUT this is what it takes to cover the material in a more comprehensive manner. RUclips already has a lot of Chinese teaching channels with 5min to 15 minutes videos. We want to present something different for the more serious student. To help digest the long videos, we are now providing TIME STAMPS.
      These are the time stamps for this video:
      1. Measure Words For People: 01:50
      2. Measure Words For Animals: 08:50
      3. Measure Words For Plants: 12:20
      4. Measure Words For Body Parts: 16:05
      5. Measure Words For Vegetables And Fruits: 20:29
      6. Measure Words For Food And Drinks: 24:50
      7. Measure Words For Clothes And Accessories: 30:56
      8. Measure Words For House Items: 36:53
      9. Measure Words For Vehicles, Planes, And Boats: 42:30
      10. Measure Words For Buildings, Rooms, Businesses And Schools: 45:01
      11. Measure Words For Nature: 49:10
      12. Measure Words For Works Of Art: 53:01
      13. Measure Words For Office Items: 56:50
      14: Measure Words For Actions: 59:46
      Does this help?

    • @genghiskhan6688
      @genghiskhan6688 6 лет назад +4

      I like how long the videos are; she speaks slowly and always repeats sentences which helps understanding, though this of course makes the videos stretch for long. If it's too much to take in at once, specially if you write down the sentences and fiddle with them as I usually do, then take your time; but it's certainly better to have more content than you can deal with than less than you need.

    • @yamspaine
      @yamspaine 6 лет назад

      I would watch all of the videos if they were in shorter clips... Her content is near perfect.. I just need to review each section multiple times, and I'd like to do that a few more times for each section.
      I can't retain a whole video. It might be fine if I were studying Chinese full time.
      If each video was put into a play list, it would effectively be one long video, and remain suitable for someone watching the whole video... but it would still be easier to go to each chapter. This is just like 6 videos all put into 1. No need to change the video, or re record, just clip it into 6 or 8 videos and they would probably get even more likes... I would be able to hit like for each video. Her view numbers would go up... I would hit like for more videos. No need at all to change the content... just spit it into 8 videos.
      This video should have thousands of likes and 10's of thousands of views.. if not 100's of thousands..

    • @yamspaine
      @yamspaine 6 лет назад

      timestamps are good. I just think that a playlist for measure words would work to your benefit... and mine. Your videos take a lot of effort, and the number of views is lower than I would expect... if it were in 8 videos I think more people would watch... and you would get 8 times as many views.
      I've tried the other people's 5-15 minute videos... and your content is much better. You truly are excellent. I just watch much fewer of your videos than I would like to because I don't feel like I can take a whole hour.
      If we can help make an app that goes along with your lessons, or join with an existing company like chinese-skill or hello-chinese or du-chinese that would be amazing. I would have each example as it's own video clip, and be able to play them from your printed content. We might be able to make something for your website that helps drop out words and quiz people. I'm not good at web development, but I'd look at the meteor framework... and try to get a deal with an existing company because there are so many chinese apps out there and many are excellent... yours is just even better.

    • @yamspaine
      @yamspaine 6 лет назад

      My imagination for how I would like to absorb your lessons is by having each example as a separate video on a web page that can automatically play one, then pause for an amount of time, then play the next video. I might have a fill in the blank quiz or something for each.. and maybe have something that blocks the audio and covers a word and asks a multiple choice question. Technically the video could probably be played and paused with one monolithic video as the source.
