Love the knowledge and sharing of insight on engine wear. Also love the games and bloopers at the end. Best part of these vids is the love around the shop.
Great video as always! Just a small remark, the oil heat exchanger that was bolted onto the oil filter location is actually an oem part! Several Toyota and lexus' have been equipped with it and is a nice part to have as it warms the oil a little quicker too!
I love and appreciate the true hands on approach I see in every one of you guys on the team. Using sockets and wrenches %90 of the time not blasting everything with an impact
Great video! But at 3:30, that cooler is not aftermarket and it's not part of the relocation kit. The cooler is OEM. Everything bolted in after the cooler is the oil filter relocation kit. These OEM oil coolers are known to be somewhat of an oil restrictor in higher HP applications.
@@eodninja6 Giving throtl the benefit of the doubt, I wonder if they're following the GE engine service manual, if so then that one doesn't show the cooler in the diagrams. That could be why he's assuming that it isn't factory.
Got the mad scientist putting in work. I'm loving the build! It's like the real footage that would've been in the original F&F, if not for the montages.
The oil squirters don't shoot oil into the wrist pin. It shoots it into the bottom of the crown where there is an oil passage around the top and then drains out the other side. Line up the piston to the squirter and you'll see the oil passage I'm referencing.
You guys should get another building put all the cars you guys gonna keep and put them in there like a Throtl museum and display for the public to visit.
ive seen sooo many 2jz engine build on RUclips and very little of the process of putting it back together inside the car, wiring harness, stand alone ecu and upgrading other 20+yr old parts! in the engine bay.
water meth injection cleans carbon off and acts as a simulated octane booster, the water cools off the air charge and the compression charge, it scubs the carbon off the pistons and valves. the methanol in the water prevents freezing if your in a cooler climate, it aids in charge air cooling and burns cooler and cleaner than pump fuel. I have personally run water meth on a 2jz for well over a decade as well as 4g63 engines. It is a much better option than just switching to a high tech fuel because nothing cleans carbon better than water. Water meth injection is also much much cheaper and has zero down side on a daily driver. I would recommend it on every boosted application. I have torn down my 4g63 after a season of hard racing and no joke that cylinder head was so clean it looked like I took apart a motor that was just assembled, lol.
Make sure to put heavy duty head studs in! I had a Cressida back in the day that was so fun to drive but suffered from head gasket failures. Head studs would have largely resolved the issue.
It's very nice to watch the progress, i am excited to see the end result, i'm just not sure if i would go with the drag wheels, but with that set up you can just place a normal wheel and tire and ready to go so good job there.
that oil filter "relocation kit" is OEM other than AN adaptor housing. From my understanding, it's there by Toyota to bring oil and water temps to equilibrium. Didn't you guys have an IS300 build? cuz the same oil cooler is on that motor as well.
that oil cooler is a factory part lol its only on the turbo motors. where the relocation screws in with the two an bungs is not but that whole liquid cooler is
Nice work! One suggestion for the camera man, as I saw it happen a couple times here ..when someone says something like "this part right here", show us where he's talking about instead of staying on the dude's face 🙂(example @6:48)
Just to be clear but GE was also in the Supra, GTE on the other hand only came in the Aristo (Lexus GS300 in America) first and then it was put into the Supra. All other Toyota in Japan only got the 1jzgte or 2jzge
Wrong hole Quinn...... The piston oil squirters spray into a receiver hole which then has a gallery salt cast behind the ring pack. The holes you pointed at are the wrist pin feeds which are splash lubricated. You were an inch off...... 🤔 Also im a big fan of oil to coolant oil coolers, I would replace it with a new original..
I wonder what the spray pattern is on those oil squirters? Do they squirt like a fuel injector? Like a weak stream from a spray bottle? Also i wouldn't stand that crank up on a table like that. Stand it up on the floor. The falling distance is less. Cool video💪
Idk if Quinn has heard of power tools but they are an amazing innovation they come in both pneumatic and electric maybe throtl should invest a little money into them makes for a lot quicker work
Really enjoy the engine tear down and re build series. You guys should do more of these👍Can't believe the price of these 2J's these days...CRAZY Better investment than Bitcoin😂
How can i turn off the translation?? I'm from argentina and i really like listen to your voices, the original language. I studied english for 10 years and watching your videos it is a way to keep my ear train
Man, Quinn still remains such a fantastic asset to this channel. Guy is a powerhouse. Throtl I hope y’all take care of him well!
These boys are making big business moves
I bet he gets paid juice boxes
Quinn is a beast!
I came here just to say that. he adds a whole new dimension to the channel. Id watch a vid even if he was just cleaning the workshop
I swear Quinn is a walking encyclopedia. Dude is insanely smart
Gotta love how much passion the boys have for there work, amazing.
He is the gem of these videos
Quinn’s deep love for flex head ratchets is unrivaled🤣
Gotta love it haha

Felt like forever waiting on more Supra content. Thank you 😂

This is where Quinn shines the most, he’s definitely enjoying this build as as I’m.
Quinn is a legend. So young and so talented. He is an ace mechanic. Master level stuff I am seeing there!

Yeah I had a MKIV and was thinking the same thing. thats the OEM cooler.

Got the mad scientist putting in work. I'm loving the build! It's like the real footage that would've been in the original F&F, if not for the montages.
Keep up the engine built content. I love it! Pair that with the unending knowledge from Quinn and it’s all the better!
Portuguese audio :O? congratulations and thank u for investing on our public from brazil.. amazing content aways!

I can’t wait to see this build all done. Y’all should build a modern day version of Jesse’s Jetta for next year! Keep up the great work!
You guys should get another building put all the cars you guys gonna keep and put them in there like a Throtl museum and display for the public to visit.
Ohhh.... and sell ur Merch out of there.
I'm impressed that he split an engine with that rachet.
Looking forward to see this build take shape. ❤️🇬🇧❤️
Obrigado pela dublagem!! Voces são mestres.

It says part 6 in the title, did they already fix it?
Good catch! Yea it’s fixed 👍🏻
@@throtl nice... let me edit my comment so it doesn't end misleading people. Thx.
@@willydmankal they did... it seems it's not only the cars they build that are fast lol

is300 have the oil filter housing without the cooler that was only a tt option the nas dont get the cooler.
Lets goooooooooo!!! Good job Quinn!! The first one you did great, I have no doubts this will be great too!

Muchas graciasss por el doblaje!! Se agradece mucho

Tomei o maior susto quando percebi que o áudio tava em português.
FYI. The oil cooler assembly is a factory component on a 2JZ-GTE.
that oil cooler is a factory part lol its only on the turbo motors. where the relocation screws in with the two an bungs is not but that whole liquid cooler is

Caraca que top vcs terem dublado em português 🇧🇷
Spot on, as per usual Quinn 🤙
Would have loved to have seen you fitting a stroker kit on this engine build!
Quinn, you are such a boss 💪🏻
Nice tear down of the engine
very cool dubbing, despite errors of tradition it was good.
Parabéns por terem dublado em português, conteúdo ótimo e agora com dublagem fica perfeito

Quinn is a good mechanic x
Piston squirters blew my mind.
gonna be a cool car.
make Skyline pick-up or estate next
The oil cooler IS a factory part on the 2JZ.
yay, another Bills fan!
Going too good till now, keep going, love from India
if it weren't for the oil and coolant mixture the engine seemed clean. From 🇪🇦
That voice crack at 8:05 was hilarious 😂😂
Damn not the voicecrack at 8:05
Toronto RX7 and Charger needs to definitely be next and of course Jesse Jetta ...
Someone needs to get this man some power tools!

Muchas gracias x el doblaje 👌
Wow maybe it can double hit on the new and improved oil Cooler Feature.:O
Love the work guys keep up the good work

Really?
Please tell me you guys are gonna do the Dom's RX-7 next. Or JaRules DC2! Actually any of the hero car from FnF1 would be sick!
parabéns por terem dublado para o português... ja assisto vocês a muito tempo e fica bem difícil no inglês 🇧🇷
Automático no yt para outras línguas, só de terem a legenda já traduz e faz dublagem, mas tem muitos erros
Never did say if it was the head gasket or the oil cooler guessing it wasn’t the block or the head.
I love this channel.
Copper Spray is bad on MLS Gaskets. You are to install MLS Gaskets Dry

So was the relocation oil filter kit the root cause of the coolant and oil mix?
Maybe some overnight parts from Ja-pan 😊
Gracias por el doblaje💪🇦🇷
Great job!!!
So you found no reason there was coolant in the engine?? Maybe pressure test the oil/coolant heat exchanger
that crank bolt came out pretty easy... arent they torqued to 239lbs or 324NM
