At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

This is one of the more prominent examples of a certain flaw of Mahidevran's, which is, after being told for so long to sit in silence and make do, whenever she perceives a chance to change that for herself at last, she rushes towards it at full steam without accounting for the consequences of trying to do too much too fast.
She fills overly saucer in the future and lacks caution. I know I keep bringing it up but I honestly believe that it's because by this point she's hasten truly lost anything.

She was responsible throughout the story till the very end.....it speaks well of her character, that Valide Hafsa Sultan, Hatice Sultan, Shah Sultan, Fatma Sultan, Mahidevran and Hurrem trusted her in the matters of the harem....Even Sultan Suleiman trusted her and consulted in in important matters regarding the Harem...she was responsible and knew how to get things done..most importantly, she was confident of her place in the harem and respected the fact that there would be different women in the Sultan' life...she never fought with other concubines or competed with them....that's why she was respected and trusted by the entire Topkapi palace...

Mahidevran was not like this in real life. She acted as valide to Mustafa's harem when he was governing his provinces, and she did a wonderful job. She and Mustafa were very successful in governing. That's why they were so popular with the public. The people loved them and wanted them to be the next sultan and valide rather than hurrem and her sons. These are all historical facts. I hate how incompetent and materialistic this show makes Mahidevran seen. But Nur is extremely beautiful and played the role very well
@@lepakshijaideep489 no actually mustafa was stupid. the real mustafa didn't hate the fact that the janissaries announced him as a sultan. in fact, he threw a fist and celebration with them. despite not having permission from the sultan. hurrem taught her children to not stand out because if they did then they would be killed because she knew how insecure suleiman was. mehmed was the best though. he was cunning and smart and knew how to work with suleiman in order for him to like him

Actually, Mahidervan may have not been a Sultana. She was just a slave, and concubine. And when Hurrem married Suleyman and became a haseki and sultana, Mahidervan probably never showed Hurrem the respect she deserved because of her rank. Maybe that is one reason why she was thought to be arrogant and smug because she always needed to shine more than those gossiping old biddies in the palace. And Suleyman constantly pitting them against each other just to prove is inflated male ego. Hurrem was most likely above Mahidervan in rank, even though Mahidervan never did show Hurrem the respect she deserved!
I know she acts like she’s a doggone teenager that cannot control herself when going to the mall and we all know she is actually given a very generous allowance from the state that should actually pay for her entire household for the year so those this is no excuse for her to keep spending on money. She wasn’t greedy per se, but her greed was not exactly in monetary. She just wanted more power so she just didn’t feel powerless because of the way she entered into the harem because she saw how they treated the other girls because she was not brought up that way, she was brought up, thinking she would be married to one man that would at least attempt to be faithful to her, and not have a whole bunch of women somebody knew into her home trying to steal a man that she thought she was her alone and plus also she would’ve had more power as being a wife and a monogamous setting.
