Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Bu sırada, Karadeniz üzerinden içi köle yüklü bir kadırga, İstanbul’a doğru gelmektedir. Kölelerden en ateşli olanı ise, kaderini değiştirecek olan yolculuğa çıktığının henüz farkında değildir. Geri dönmek için çaresiz bir şekilde isyan etmektedir.
Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

I love Gulfem. She has such a sweet heart and she is so fair. She always stands for what's right and it makes me so sad because she's one of the most unfortunate. She lost her child and her status is low but I wish she had the most power. She's just so amazing and she is one of the most beautiful!!
Except for when she helped Hatice lie to Nigar Kalfa about her child being dead. She wasn’t so kind hearted in that moment and she knew the pain of losing a child.
Gulfem always hung with the cruel girls. She was part of so much deception. I despice her as much as Hatice.

Gülfem was nowhere near being a good person. She is that silent, yet sneaky person who hears all the gossips and goes with the flow. She was part of countless conspiracies and traps, yet all she would say when the evil plan failed was "you will find it from God". Constantly forgetting what she has done, exactly like Mahidevran, but as an outsider member. When her gang lost, it was time for her to move to a more powerful gang. She went from Valide to Hatice to Sah to Mahidevran to Hurrem and Mihrimah. She's sneaky and pathetic. Yet she is always presented as a humble and trust worthy hatun. But irl, you will meet both fighters and suckers so...

What is her child survived then she will surely be like other sultanas it’s just her faith which make her nice as she wanted Allah to do something for her and that’s y she become so kind. No one knows how she will be if her son and daughter were Alivd

Mahidevran couldn't manage the harem well, so as hurrem, she also got problems, she couldn't pay off the debt back in time, Valide Sultan was very good at this job, the harem faced no problems with her.
Hurrem at least resolved the financial problem by selling personal properties to repay her debt.
atleast the rest of those years with hurrem as she grows old doesn't have to pay this kind of idiocy that want to have private bath and ridiculous request before the campaign and such.

@@GosieKin she had a child or two with Suleyman but they passed away at a such young age, maybe during that time she was called Sultana. Remember when Mahidevran was hostile and bitter towards Gulfem at the beginning of the series? That might be the explanation

Funny how a deadbeat is a deadbeat regardless of their culture or social standing. Mahidevran knows she owes that woman money and is refusing to pay because she doesn't want to have to deal with the consequences of bad financial decision making.
Everyone, just go to Bursa, and see what's written on Mahidevran's tomb. "MAHİDEVRAN HATUN". She was never a Sultan. Sultan was only for blood Princesses. Süleyman made it an exception for Hürrem.

Mahidevran banyak berbuat masalah pada saat Sulaiman perang . Dia berlaga menggantikan Valide sultan di Harem tapi semua malah kacau dia banyak menghabiskan uang negara termasuk berhutang untuk membeli banyak kain dan perhiasan itu malah akan membinasakan nya saat Sulaiman kembali dari Medan perang

@@birb5571 she lost her title after that. But Valide Sultsna and Suleyman respected her for how nice she was. Otherwise she would be send to The Old Palace.
Why they need money from outsiders after all thy are Sultan family
The harem has a treasury. In difficult times like during campaigns where a lot of money is spent, the harem's money allowance can get impacted. That money isn't for personal purpose but for the whole harem system like wages and everything but Mahidevran spent all of it for her own personal benefit. In hard times, money can be borrowed and payed back later but Mahi being an idiot borrowed way too much?
What mahi did with that money ist the much huge amount she is sultan and ruling the harem now cant she spend what she wants

the state is rich, the Padisha too… to a certain extent; all the money have a purpose so if you keep spending like no tomorrow you have to reduce on public spending and people won’t tolerate it long. And at that moment there’s a fundraiser for a military campaign which is costing a lot of money. If on the meantime whilst people must be careful but a Sultana is spending on futile products enormous some of money well raise the taxes and you will end with riots. It’s like if you’re the owner of a big company.

I think Mahi character was badly portrayed, okay she was not sultan favourite but if you read history Mustafa is the most brave and just prince it means his mother played a very important role in his up bringing. On the other hand, Hurrem and his sons were wicked.
I think Hurrem was also portrayed badly, even her daughter was very supportive to her father...
Hurrem's son Mehmet was similar to Mustafa. But Mahi conspired to have him killed.

@@zahrans he is not killed by Mahi but from smallpox. That is why Mahi character was poorly described in the series
I mean, overall, a lot of characters and events were protayed badly or incorrectly for the sake of greater drama and narrative affect. Mahidevran certainly wasn't as immature and emotional in real life, nor was Hurrem bratty or outright evil. But, hey, this show did jump start me to truly learn about them all so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
