Great video. If you want to fish in heavy weeds try throwing your favorite Ned baits on a Jika rig. Owner jig rig works well. I would try staying with a standard plastic or Elaztec type bait as long as the body is ribbed. Hook ups with super plastic baits are more difficult with light tackle using a Texas rigged Jika. By the way the Japanese baits you mentioned work great with this set up.
Great info video as always Brian. I also wanted to say thanks again for the 3 hour bass fishing tour on lake "Slump Buster" in Nowwhere Minnesota 😉. It was very informative 👍 and I definitely appreciated it.
Not a really big spinning rod guy, but I picked up an SLX spinning rod half off over the winter, so I picked up some ned stuff. Haven't had it out yet cause I picked up an Expride Heavy on sale too, and I've been enjoying that too much. Definitely going to give neds an honest go this year though.
Brian, if you're ever in the area of central Minnesota, the west side of the Blanchard Dam in Royalton is LOADED with walleye and smallmouth now up until about mid June! Love the content, keep it up my friend👍
Dude a tungsten Ned head from swagger will definitely give you more feel on the bottom…I fish a Ned almost 365 days a year and make my own heads as well.I use the same NRX+ and P5s you do and there is definitely a difference. With that said I’ll only use the tungsten on deep lakes and stick with the lead in the river 🎣 Great video man I’m a big fan ! But you knew this was coming from someone lol..keep up the good content Brian
I have heard several “Pro’s” talk about almost swimming the Ned and keeping it right off the bottom is the real “secret” to fishing it correctly as intended. Hence the light weight heads and floating plastic. Really wasn’t ever intended to be a bottom contact bait. It’s been a killer bait for me on suspended bass doing just this tactic.
@@PunchFishing man exactly!! It completely blew my mind once I dedicated a couple hours trying this exactly as you mentioned. It almost felt like cheating and actually caught 2 that were 6+ on lake chickamauga. I’ve always got it tied on now although I run it more on a BFS type setup just for more entertainment lol. Only time I size up on the heads is if there is current or wind is killing me. Punch your 100 on that man it murders on FFS setups.
the connie petersens golpher tackle mushroom head and a half of zinkerz or a zero is the original ned bait 1/32 or 1/16 with a small hook #4 still use them to this day but my jigs are running low will have to give the og jig a try.
Thanks for this episode, I’ve been stacking up de Reins mister NED aswel as Bubbring shaker. Tiny Paca craw by Netbaits and Missile baits has the NED bomb and have you mentioned Zman Trick shotZ?
Bubble gut is my favorite ticklerz color as well. I've been killing them on the molix freaky flex you should give them a shot. They are made from the same material as Zman and float.
Brian, wonder if Omnia would make a box or package deal of all the baits/lures you use in your reviews? Would definitely order them up! Just rewatched and said that would be neat!
@@PunchFishing yes from start to finish. May be pricey but the value and quality would be there! And would save time in ordering individual items. Thanks for responding!
I don't think a lot of people use it, but the Savage Gear Salamander is probably the best ned rig bait I've found. They're a little more expensive than most, but they're made of a plastic like Elaztech called Dura tough. I highly recommend you try them!
Have you ever tried the so called tiny child rig? I have trouble fishing ned rigs in my lake without getting hung up. Looks like a seedless iteration of the Ned.
Thanks for the info. I have used many finesse baits, but I am totally new to the Ned rig. After watching this, I saw some Z-man TRD at my local Wal-Mart and thought I would give them a try. Only had three colors and two jig head sizes, but I did get the copertreuse and PB&J along with the 1/15 Oz head. I just put the Vanford 2500 on my Legend elite panfish, so I figured I would try the rig on that rod, as the bass in one of the local places I go are still on the small side. I ended up catching 8 bass from 8-11 inches today, which is alot of fun on the light action rod. Thanks again, I will have to place an order for some better jigheads and various other baits and colors.
@@PunchFishing it’s literally just a more expensive trd that’s less durable, but if I wanted a ned bait that had appendages like that I’d go with the Zman trd hogz, so much better

Great video! That mm2 roboworm ned is killer. I really like to use the green pumpkin perch and twilight as well
Green Pumpkin Perch and tacklewarehouse exclusive black blue pumpkin are killer!!!!!
Thanks Brian. Great information about my favorite way of fishing.
Sweet video, I love the deep dive tackle nerd mode vids. Giving up the juice!

Anytime Ryan! 🤘

Give the Nikko Super Ned a try one day. It has a different profile and is a bit thicker than most other neds.
Thanks for the tips, TRD Tickler’s are working for me now in black/blue. Aarons magic for Roboworm Ned gets my river smallies though!
Very informative. Thanks!
Thanks dude. I learn something every time I watch your videos
Appreciate the feedback!
Margarita mutilator is MMIII. And I agree I use brighter colors for both largemouth and smallies. Great informative video for such a deadly technique.
Rad!
Interesting! I thought Ned rig was better thrown on a medium light or light power rod because of the weight of ned rig.
Thank you. I always love your videos!!!
Thanks for watching!!
Great show l make my own Ned’s now with owner hooks. My # 1 is TRD big and a Hellgrammite bait also like the TRD giant
Zman ticklerz did great on champlain on my last trip in May. Outfished the trd big time.

Thanks for the comment! I knew someone was going to defend the tungsten heads ;)

The slow fall is really important IMHO. I've confirmed this with my forward facing sonar.

Jackall rhythm wag on a 1/16 chartreuse head has been killer this year.

Funny that you say you don’t need high end equipment, I honestly have found that my favorite ned rod is a $55 Daiwa Aird X 7 foot ML
Heck yea!

I'll check them out!

Not a terrible idea! I could ask them.

I think I have a pack of these
@@PunchFishing give them a try if you haven't. I think you'll be impressed
Osp and Robo are money 💴
Very thorough! Thanks for the vid! What’s your go-to line setup for your Ned baits? Braid to fluoro? Straight fluoro? Lb test?
10lb braid to 8lb fluorocarbon leader
Have you ever tried the so called tiny child rig? I have trouble fishing ned rigs in my lake without getting hung up. Looks like a seedless iteration of the Ned.
I have looked at the videos but I've never tried it. Looks like it should work!
Thanks for the insight how do you like to work the ned rig
I work it pretty slow, usually bites happen when it's just sitting there.

Love to hear this!
Do you prefer the 1/0 or 2/0 size hook in that 1/8 oz head?
The 2/0
You didn’t cover you line choices. I rock mine on 8lb braid to 8lb FC
I use 10lb Daiwa J-Braid Grand to a 8lb FC leader on all my spinning setups.
Free rig
That AllSaints drip tho.
Hah love that hoodie.
@@PunchFishing I feel like the only viewer who cares about the drip. 🤣
Sukoshi bug kinda blows
Whys that?
