I think you should use a toothpick or a small wooden stick to point at things instead of having to stick your whole hand in there. Also, a toothpick is thinner so we can know exactly what you are pointing at
Great Review on a fantastic older set. A neat trick for fleshing out the stores merchandise is simply take all of the little items from an Advent Calendar or Two. All the toys and glass ware etc.
Exactly ... shelves are easy to make as are 'toys' ... folks moan about anything - back until the Palace Cinema it was all about the building, not the interior
Also interesting note for ya. If you ever want to do more with your crystal gem new age shop, those green goblets would go well with it as well as those golden bowls. They could simulate something that is known as a Tibetan singing bowl and the green goblets could be for like modern day witches or people of Wicca faith.
huh.... so this is about where the insides start getting super bare. :-\ disappointing, but plenty of space to build up our own departments inside I guess.
I agree with your conclusion Jang; even though this is really lacking in interior details, the outside more than makes up for it and might one of my favorite Modular exteriors.
I was fortunate enough to receive this set (about 5 years ago), and it's a great set! Glad to have it! Only problem is that I received a defective set in which was missing a few window panes, few pieces, and a few tiles in which I had to improvise - which ultimately angered me, but I still love it.
I love this set. However, it is a bit empty but ay, nothing a bit of 'decorating' can't fix. Good set As for the escalators i guess they made a mistake there...
i'm watching Girl Meets World on the TV while watching this review & right when you mentioned the Bay Window around 3:55 a character on the show said 'bay window' as well & i had to do a double take on both. lol
Hmmm... I'm generally a fan of the halo and COD megabloks. Your review makes me want this building so my little guys can do SWAT style takedowns against each other lol. Particularly with that skylight window--looks easy to slide out. 1 team rappels in from the roof, second team starts at the ground.
he means a wireless camera that you can connect to your phone. I like the idea, but the recording quality of such a camera would be... much to be desired. But having a camera with "minifig perspective" would be great for such a channel like this.
Its the same problem as the Palace cinema (and a lot of the pre Parisian restaurant modulars) looks so awesome on the outside except it is so bare on the inside. I hope to see a modular legends line in the future where the design team revisits these sets and do them better than before.
well it may be empty but lego did that for your choice to make anything else in the emptiness like make a café or maybe alot more stuff if im buying this set I need to customize the 2nd floor into a café
I can just imagine kid: mum can we go to the toys mum mum mum!!!! mum: ok kid frantically runs up stairs to third floor kid: what? there is almost nothing kid cries kid: wait... the escalators only go up... to the Window!!!!! kid flies out window
I wonder if Lego will ever rerelease these older modular sets. I bet they would sell quite well considering people are paying loads for them on ebay and similar sites.
How they get down? My theory is, there's a small imaginary up/down panel like you see on elevators to control the direction (again, assuming they moved irl), so you gotta wait your turn. :P
hey i saw the 2014 police station review and the creator lego shop at home freebie ballon cart review i got bolth and they look great, the ballon cart does not just look great with the fair ground mixer it looks great with any city
man I went to the lego store today and they said they discontinued this set a few days ago! i was so bummed. but I am going to get the restaurant instead.
This was my first modular building and I absolutely love the series
Looks amazing from outside. Has a New York/big city feel to it.
I think you should use a toothpick or a small wooden stick to point at things instead of having to stick your whole hand in there. Also, a toothpick is thinner so we can know exactly what you are pointing at
This set does look beautiful. A lot of neat build tricks as well.

Honestly, if I'm ever thinking of buying a lego set your my go to you youtube channel to watch the review!
What
i love your reviews for the modular sets you really look at the details and flaws. Good Job.
This set uses some cool building methods for a fairly old set
Also interesting note for ya. If you ever want to do more with your crystal gem new age shop, those green goblets would go well with it as well as those golden bowls. They could simulate something that is known as a Tibetan singing bowl and the green goblets could be for like modern day witches or people of Wicca faith.
This has to be one of my favorite modulars. This was my first too. Great review!
huh.... so this is about where the insides start getting super bare. :-\ disappointing, but plenty of space to build up our own departments inside I guess.
Very nice review! All your reviews are professionally done and in depth. Great job!
Haha the escalators must only go up. There is no escape from the shop.
***** That would be even more pointless!
Unless you run down the escultator
Get ready to jump out the window!
I think they are stairs
These comments are funny lol
Your mall is better. Sad that I can't buy it(((
I agree. But then again Jan's mall is a more modern one and they would have more these days.
😭😭Me too😭😭😭👺That's a Wierd emoji.
⁉️💢❗️❌⭕️❓🚫❌
+Corbin Tube if they sold the mall in one set which is about 10,000 pieces. It would be to expensive for most to buy.
Emerald Mage it would be to expensive for every one exept trump.😓
This building is in Lego City Undercover
I agree with your conclusion Jang; even though this is really lacking in interior details, the outside more than makes up for it and might one of my favorite Modular exteriors.
Man i NEED that set
I was fortunate enough to receive this set (about 5 years ago), and it's a great set! Glad to have it! Only problem is that I received a defective set in which was missing a few window panes, few pieces, and a few tiles in which I had to improvise - which ultimately angered me, but I still love it.

This reminds me of those big '50's department stores that were becoming really popular
This was the first Lego set I got, I was 8 or 9.
this is my favorite modular tied with green grocers and Parisian restraunt
i'm watching Girl Meets World on the TV while watching this review & right when you mentioned the Bay Window around 3:55 a character on the show said 'bay window' as well & i had to do a double take on both. lol
Would love to aquire one of these and start building a city scene!
My favourite modular is the brick bank
Ricardo Oliva mine too
I like the assembly square but can’t afford it
Same here
Hmmm... I'm generally a fan of the halo and COD megabloks. Your review makes me want this building so my little guys can do SWAT style takedowns against each other lol. A thing Lego should really make..a minifig, with a head-shaped camera piece. with an antenna sticking up through the air-hole for wireless recording..
+gio charkviani I do not get this comment
what?
he means a wireless camera that you can connect to your phone. I like the idea, but the recording quality of such a camera would be... much to be desired. But having a camera with "minifig perspective" would be great for such a channel like this.
I love 50's stuff. reminds me of Resistance 2
Nice chandelier, good review.
Looks really neat!
that is a cool shop because you have to go up to see the rest of the things, so it's kind of like a mini mall
This set appears in a level of a video game
Bad job by lego on the interior!!!! They spent too much time on the outside. If I get this then I will definitely be remaking the interior.
Its the same problem as the Palace cinema (and a lot of the pre Parisian restaurant modulars) looks so awesome on the outside except it is so bare on the inside. I hope to see a modular legends line in the future where the design team revisits these sets and do them better than before.
The Emporium is awsome :D
This is such a great set, I want to get this. But it's costly. Great review!!!!!!!!!!!
Early modulars were very basic inside
@Max Seltzer but now they look good outside and inside except for anything 2018 and future
Many Maybe you can put your Lego mall in Lego ideas then it will be a set that people can buy :)
you could definantly put more inside on the secondfloor if you move stuff around
this set came out way before the lego group even considered making a lego movie
I have this set too and I love it
I have an idea for playing with the building when you take the floors apart!
Jang your Custom mall is way better! Grand Emporium needs more junk inside
Hey JANG, I forgot, you can use the (your) Transparent baseplate to put your minifigures in it.
Woah!! jang shouldve blured the minifig without no pants!!
lol why it's just yellow and besides its yellow and people will get the basic idea
Jack Landheer r/woooosh
They could of made two escalators for one to go up and the other one to go down on both floors, just a thought.
I got this set the day before it was retired ☺
I would love a huge modular mall
Good review! I love this set even though I do not own it.
well it may be empty but lego did that for your choice to make anything else in the emptiness like make a café or maybe alot more stuff if im buying this set I need to customize the 2nd floor into a café
great idea! but I'd customize the 3rd floor instead.
Awesome review!
this set kind of remind's me of a kohl's store
I think I'm going to buy that.
I can just imagine kid: mum can we go to the toys mum mum mum!!!! mum: ok kid frantically runs up stairs to third floor kid: what? there is almost nothing kid cries kid: wait... the escalators only go up... to the Window!!!!! kid flies out window
Wow where this might go in my city will be next to the houses and so i can make a grosser inside thanks jang for this awsom reveiw
How do you get down once you get to the top.
How do the customers get down?
It’s called jump out the window
You are very creative
On the bottom floor the cash register is a good idea
i will this for my birthday
It's called a scaffold. Also, the "broom" is called a squidgy.
This is looks good on the outside but it’s so empty on the inside
very nice. Hope he reviews the lego Simpson House
Nice video!
You can put your lego houseware things on the secend floor
I wonder if Lego will ever rerelease these older modular sets. I bet they would sell quite well considering people are paying loads for them on ebay and similar sites.
Yeah
I run down the escalator all the time
#PARKOUR
It look's nice
i remember building this when i was 6! it was a good set but i never kept any of my sets together
I dident keep my Lego sets the same about age 6 aswell
Same... If I had kept all of them together I would have about a million sets
Vince The Bear me two and im only left with little amout of lego figers for now
This set is amazing and the RUclipsr
Jang you should become a lego designer
Nice good but to ... Empty lol
Jairo Rodriguez You could add your own stuff..
MEXICAN Legofan
It's overprice, because interior very empty 😮
buyable ending how would I put my own stuff if I dont have it
This is no longer available, it makes me sad....
Hey Jang I am looking forward to buying this set. How much is it?
How they get down? My theory is, there's a small imaginary up/down panel like you see on elevators to control the direction (again, assuming they moved irl), so you gotta wait your turn. :P
you should connect them together and show us in your review
hey i saw the 2014 police station review and the creator lego shop at home freebie ballon cart review i got bolth and they look great, the ballon cart does not just look great with the fair ground mixer it looks great with any city
hey jang do you talk while taking the video or do you make clips and the edit in your talking
Dude your awesome
If only in the U.S.A it didn't cost $319 but, it was discontinued so that makes more sense
SomeSniper I don’t think it was $320 retail price. I believe it was around $200.
150 US
This is a bit stupid because the stairs lead up but you cant go down.
Yeah it is a bit weird
Karlo Klanac there was a store i went to as a child that had a reverse escalader. meaning you could go up and down on it with the flip of a switch.
It's so big!
Hunnie... where are my pants.. haha never gets old.
Yeah, but also Hunnie... where is my super suit?!
thats from the lego movie
I just wish they put more products on the inside 😔
How do people go down the escalator
Joey Briscoe u dont u jump off the roof I mean it is lego it won't Hurt
Have you stepped on lego before
Awnser they cant
I like it a lot
Why Would you take such a nice set apart???
Because he wants to make even better MOCs!
Like the escalators
1:10 now we here
Nice
i really like to buy that to put on my city
This was my first modulars... when I built it I was like 7 or something...
I don't like how the floors aren't secured with studs, studs are helpful.
He needs more lego architect sets
man I went to the lego store today and they said they discontinued this set a few days ago! i was so bummed. but I am going to get the restaurant instead.
Still available in the UK.
Actually in the US, I think they were sold out on the set, they didn't retire it yet.
I might get another one of these for my city.
How do you get that total white background to be perfectly lighted
Majic
I have this set too
It's not my favorite set but how are the minfigs spouts to get down
And I wish that they added more Inter detail ant I like the shandler. :)
