Hey! I'm certain there's a small chance you'll see this, but I wanted to share something Jang! My favourite video of yours is your 'Nobody stopped' video, about how no one stopped to help you tend to a man who was hit by a car. It really got me how caught up in our own lives we are, that we'd rather be on time than help someone. Well the other day I was driving to a rehearsal for my town's summer Shakespeare when I came across a car accident. They were already getting the guy out of the car and I could've easily driven past like all the other traffic and gotten to rehearsal on time. But I remembered your video about how nobody stopped to help, so I made myself pull over and helped to direct traffic. It really made me feel like so much more of a legitimate person. And I had to share it.
Wow. Well done. Jang should see this. I saw that video back in the day as well. Last year, *weirdly* similar to your story, my Dad was driving me to my rehearsal of a production of Oliver Twist, and someone didn't see us and drove out of a car park *without looking,* with their *1 and 6* year-old children in the back that they had just picked up from Beavers (young Cub-Scouts over here in Britain). They blamed the whole thing on us, as well as ending the nearly-15-year run of my Dad's car. Had a real bad time, and I was no longer enjoying rehearsals for my show, but Jang helped me get over it in time for my final performances, for which I am *incredibly* grateful. Jang has helped me, and loads of others for sure, through bad times a lot. There's so much him and his channels have done for me, it's inexpressible.
They really should have tiled off that ground floor. A garage would have a cement floor or something like that, so the beige floor just looks really awkward.
That was the main reason why I had my doubts about this set. The rest of the set is decent (not brilliant), but that just seemed like a step back. In general, the interior of this set seems a bit sparse, but that untiled floor was glaring. Still, then I figured that since the older modulars didn't have a fully tiled ground floor either and I got them for the façade, I might as well get this one for the same reason.
Palace Cinema had similar problems: they didn't use plates to cover up the floor, but at least they used a red baseplate, so the floor looked like red carpet. It looks much cheaper here.
I wish they would make smaller buildings in this line (like how the pet shop was 2 different buildings, having a set the size of one of those half’s) Or also some housing would be good as well
I really like that lounge chair on the roof. I appreciate it when designers come up with creative new ways to make use of older pieces in such a simple manner that I start asking myself: "Hey, why didn't I think of that?"
Hopefully the next 90’s modular has a disco room and an arcade with a laser tag arena, a little hint to jangs music shop and arcade build which I love btw
The thing that struck me when I first saw the interior was the stair access. Each floor you are going through a business or someone's home. Does the person who lives upstairs own the vet clinic or the auto shop? Who gets to use the roof? Does the apartment dweller enjoy people going through his apartment to get to the roof? This may seem crazy, but it is what goes through my head when I see a set or design something, myself. Too crammed and awkward. The outside, however, is quite nice.
It's a thing that appened back in older sets and also in the commemorative set; unfortunately they don't always put much thought in it, they use "lego logic" :-/
I love the exterior, I love how it looks like a real building compared to many past modulars. That said, the lack of details inside the auto shop is really odd, and why not use a grey baseplate if you're not going to tile it? But really, most will see this only from the outside 99% of the time so I don't think it's a deal breaker, as long as you like what the outside looks like.
Gus Krough The palace cinema is also probably meant to be set in the 1950s. But yeah, these are nice! I like that they are mixing styles a bit as long as they stay away from modern square concrete boxes 😄

@@puppetguy8726 I'd like them to make something like Hundertwasserhaus.
I have seen buildings where the sides were "mismatched" on the sides. Sometimes in downtown's, parts of buildings get demolished, burn down, enlarged or renovated over the years. So differing, odd colours spots on the sides of buildings add a degree of character.
It's like the older Modular Buildings. They too were more façade than detailed interior. I'll buy it later this year and detail it myself. The speed build on the other channel is very good!!!
Brilliant intro, you really summed up how to make the decision to buy in a great way - for me, I have to say I’m not taken by the exterior at all so I’ll be passing on this for now.
I feel like this set is being underrated. Sure, some is a little confusing (a chair on the roof?), but it's really cool. The designers probably had a part limitation and used the majority on the outside so they couldn't make the inside super detailed. Besides, you get all of that dark orange!
Been on the roof of many a similar, real building. Not uncommon to find lawn chairs, inflatable pools, picnic tables, bbq and on occasion, an outdoor fridge .Gotta use whats avail.
I think the two 1x1 dark gray brackets are there to keep the window from being pushed in, the little 1/2 stud protrusions stick up enough to keep the window in
Jang, your reviews are amazing. It would be really cool if you review the old modular building sets too. - such as cafe corner, market street, and green grocer. i please you. i really enjoy watching your reviews!
I go for the modulate because of their exteriors and this one really excited me. Reminds me of the great ones, Café Corner, Green Grocer and Grand Emporium. Best modular since Parisian Restaurant in my opinion (my favourite is Pet Shop which you placed next to it in your city).
the worst part of this set is that someone thought it was a good idea to put a vet over a garage. animals don't tend to be fond of loud noises and garages are known for being loud.
Rhys Waites I can imagine the doctor about to check the mouth of a rabbit when there’s a loud bang, and he exits with a bandaged finger, muttering under his breath about the cursed garage below,
it does feel like they've just thrown random businesses that they haven't done yet into it, there isn't much flow to it from a garage to a vet to an apartment. The outside looks great, I love the colour but the flow of the whole building is really confusing
If I was the designer for this set, I would've put braces on the little girl & give her a fish bowl / bag to replicate the scene in the vets from Finding Nemo!!! 🐠🐠🐠
I’ve been subscribed to you since 100,000 sub and I’ve seen your city progress and and the sets you’ve made your by far the best LEGO creator and reviewer
Jang says to keep the exterior in mind cause its the main thing. Jang gets to the interior, I decide the nice exterior isn't worth that much bad interior😂
Hey Jang, the dark grey brackets behind the bird prevent you from pushing in the big window. The Horizon Express has a similar technique. This set is my first major disappointment with the Creator Expert line: it feels like it's not thought out well enough. The gas pump and counter are WAY too high for figs: I lowered both by one brick and it looks way better. I also tiled the garage floor, which finishes it up nicely. Still debating whether or not to close the stairway: imagine the noise in that vets waiting area! I theorize that they wanted to keep the parts count under 2600, which is why we end up with a lot of unfinished interior sections. A shame they did this to the excellent modular line. Then again, we have been spoiled by Assembly Square, Ninjago City and so on, but Lego did that to themselves.
Hmm... I like the exterior and it looks really great in your city. But the garage interior feels like a missed opportunity of cluttering! If I were to buy this set, I would fill it with Speed champion's extra builds.
I have been waiting for your review on this. So glad it is finally up. And your review solidify my decision. I will be passing on this modular building. The first one I will be missing since I started collecting LEGO again.
It's sad that the car is the best build of the modular.... I DO like some techniques used (THOSE WINDOWS!), but this set is...lacking. It also makes no sense - Animal clinic over the garage?!
Agreed. And why even an animal clinic? There are still a bunch of things missing for a city that would be more "iconic" than an animal clinic. Post office, library, police, hospital, school, hotel (I don't count Cafe Corner since it has literally no interior detail), train station, etc.
@@ULSWC A post office is a pretty nice idea actually, but everything else is a bit big for a second floor, these ideas should take up a whole house in my opinion
As someone who is more interested in the exteriors of LEGO buildings than their interiors, this looks like an ideal Modular Building for me, though Detective's Office still bests it in terms of exterior aesthetics in my books. I find it amusing that this is actually the second time LEGO has released a "Creator" set that's a corner building featuring dark orange walls. The first was 31050 Corner Deli, which you also reviewed (and granted it's a Creator 3-in-1 set, but hey, it's "Creator", in scare quotes). It's probably a coincidence, but what an unlikely one...
Hey, if I’m not mistaken, I think the grey studs that stick out of the wall in the waiting room are wall sockets, which would be the first time they’ve ever done that 🤔
My biggest gripe is the ground level scale! The register is above the mini figure head. It looks sunken when you place a figure and look through the window.
This building almost has a semi-industrial feel to me. The section above the garage looks like it could have been a disused factory that have been converted into modern loft apartments. Although many reviews and responses have been lukewarm, I like it!
Tbh, it's actually not too bad. Just a few problems I have. For one thing, the garage floor should be tiled, second, there should be a wall separating the vets and garage, and finally, there should be a door for the apartment. I think they should've kept the original heads too, especially since none of the faces in this set really stand out anyway.
This is a good modular set, but the price is just a little to high. For £20 extra you can purchase the Assembly Square, which has twice the amount of pieces. I am pleased to see the return of Octan. Lego seems to have ditched their own brand energy company in recent years so I'm glad they've brought it back. More Octan themed Lego is much welcome.
I think what is missing in this modular is a story. Look back at recent modulars such as brick bank and detectives office and there was a story, a theme which was created for the builder to relive. This modular misses the creativity element. It looks quite dull, like a UK local council office. Dr Jones pet clinic could have been developed into a really exciting story line, but comes a little too soon after pet shop in my mind. I think the final product is the result of Lego creators going through a transition. I hope where we end up is a little more creative than CG. Nice review Jang!
I think that adding expressive faces was kinda neat back in the diner, but... They really stand out against the smiley heads, and just makes it a bit of a mess
I think the main reason of this being a letdown for many is because it was once again designed by a whole new designer (Lars Joe), who doesn't yet have much experience in Modular Buildings.
I was going to get the next creator build as my first one and when the first vids of this surfaced I was happy to get it. But not excited. And since its been released, since it isn't on amazom uk or easy to find in local stores I just haven't got it. I bought the Old Fishing Store instead for £30 cheaper at Smyths. Idk if I'll ever get it now. Shame cause its interesting but it doesn't have the NEED factor for some reason.
2 of the figures look like they coukd be from zoolander. I would love to see you customize the garage area. I'd add a bigger washroom to the top level. Let it hang over the back door.
Great review, and great set! Perfect for a Back to the Future Full-Service 1955 Gas Station moment! my oh my how spoiled some Commenters are.. "not great"?? Lego does such a dazzling job on these Creator town buildings, that people complain about nothing. Hmm. Had any of us AFOLs seen any of these when we were kids, they would have blown our minds.
Why didn't they just use a light gray baseplate...? :P I think that would have looked better for the floor of the garage. But honestly while I initially didn't like the look of this set I can appreciate some of the techniques they used looking closer. :) Thanks for the review, stupendous as always!
I have mixed feelings on this set. It’s nice overall, but I feel that the amount of space used on the gas pump feels like a waste. The colors don’t jump out either, but that’s a personal preference. I do, however, really like the garage door feature, it’s so cool and unexpected, as well as the new prints used on the signage and windows. I also really like the tv in the apartment, it looks like the minifig is watching Full House! Great review Jang!
The Parisian Restaraunt was my first modular ever and still possibly favorite of the three I own (Restaurant, Detective's Office, Brick Bank.) I'm not as underwhelmed by this set as some, but I don't think it'll be dethroning my favorite. And as much as In like the idea of the Diner, I've avoided it because I think it'll stick out like a sore thumb among the rest. That said, if you have the budget for two of these, you might want to consider the Assembly Square (I think that's the name) instead. I don't own it, but it's a real behemoth with a lot to love.
So somebody can walk from the garage to the vet's office to the apartment with no issue? That's strange. I remember that the Pet Shop actually had a door to the apartment itself, which was cool.
I like the classic garage idea a lot. Though as a modular, it doesn't compete with the rest. It's a bit plain in its looks and feels out of place compared to the other buildings. Just thought from a spectator's point of view.
@@NirateGoel That's true. But the Diner is a fantastic building on its own. I think this only works well with more modulars unfortunately and that's where it lacks, personally.
i really really hope they do more detail for module buildings in the future... like the level of detail like in assembly square or the pet shop... or the brick bank also i really hope they do modern module buildings cus im getting sick of this 70's style some ppl like it but it should be modern in my opinion... cus im starting to think lego is doing this so they dont have to put as much detail (wow this is way too long thx if u red this far :P )

Great review Jang!
the problem i have with this one is how do you get to the apartment without going through the vet's office. what if you have an allergy.
Animal cruelty for that goldfish; that tank is TINY! I'd hope in the real world that fish would be moved to a bigger tank if it got that big, haha.
I really want this!
Your city is outstanding! I feel it could be improved if there was a certain paranormal-elimination firehouse in the area, though!
What I should get? This and the downtown diner or the parisian restaurant and the new bookstore?
The Parisian Restaraunt was my first modular ever and still possibly favorite of the three I own (Restaurant, Detective's Office, Brick Bank.)
I'm not as underwhelmed by this set as some, but I don't think it'll be dethroning my favorite.
Yesssss!!! I’ve been waiting so long
So somebody can walk from the garage to the vet's office to the apartment with no issue? That's strange. I remember that the Pet Shop actually had a door to the apartment itself, which was cool.
I think it would look better in a different colour
Yes they have they did it with a medical bay
Floors, especially ground floor, should have been tiled. Otherwise not a bad set.
I like the classic garage idea a lot. Though as a modular, it doesn't compete with the rest. It's a bit plain in its looks and feels out of place compared to the other buildings. Just thought from a spectator's point of view.
So does the dinner they are so different from the rest.
@@NirateGoel That's true. But the Diner is a fantastic building on its own. I think this only works well with more modulars unfortunately and that's where it lacks, personally.
That’s really Cool
In New Jang City, I'd recommend telephone poles, just to make it realistic.
JANG: "Dr.Jones's-"
ME: "Artifacts!"
JANG: "animal care."
i really really hope they do more detail for module buildings in the future... like the level of detail like in assembly square or the pet shop... or the brick bank also i really hope they do modern module buildings cus im getting sick of this 70's style some ppl like it but it should be modern in my opinion... cus im starting to think lego is doing this so they dont have to put as much detail (wow this is way too long thx if u red this far :P )
I thought the tire mount was a record player 11:04
You are the best!!!!☺☺☺
