    I would much rather see the laan sau being used as the cross arm block, which was used extensively by George Foreman during his comeback run in the 90s. Using it to stop a frontal bear hug seems far-fetched to me. Although, based on anecdotes, frontal bear hugs are not common and the laan sau cannot be used to counter a single or double leg take down.

      The application you referenced is more in line with how the ‘Laan Sau’ action is presented in the ‘Cham Kiu’ form.
