One of the finest Marvel has to offer. I'm a sucker for espionage films and this hits hard. Nat and Steve have such great chemistry, as do Steve and Sam.

Georges Batroc ("Batroc The Leaper" in the comics) was a French Savate champion who turned to organized crime. The casting crew got an actual French Mixed Martial Arts fighter to play the role here. An excellent fight!
Minor correction, Georges St. Pierre is French Canadian. He's considered one of the best MMA fighters in history, having won four championships in two different weight classes.

I love it when people got to see this movie and be surprised by the Bucky reveal. I am someone who read Marvel comics for years , so I knew who he was supposed to be, and yes, it was supposed to be Bucky. Personally, I think this is the best MCU movie, not counting any of the Avengers movies.
I think Nat as a possible winter soldier is a decent assumption before you know the whole story. I haven’t heard that idea/observation and it doesn’t seem too far off. Great reaction. This is an action packed movie. Start to finish.
This is still one of my favorite Captain America movies and one of my top 3 favorite MCU films. It's just a great film, period. Suspenseful, action-packed, full of surprises and reveals, great character development of Steve and Natasha and the introduction of Sam Wilson, the Falcon, who goes on to ever greater importance. And it's even got bits of humor. The scenes of Steve in the elevator, hurtling out of the elevator, and disabling the jet plane (quinjet) entirely on his own, with only his shield, show just how awesome Captain America can be with relatively minimal "super powers." My tiny nitpick-that-doesn't-matter is that it's interesting to learn that Natasha has an incoming-missiles-from-S.H.I.E.L.D. phone app. Handy! I don't know why everyone doesn't download that one. Apple or Android? Probably Android, I'm guessing. Though Apple does seem rather Hydra.
This is my favourite mcu film but my one nitpick is in the same scene, the fact they go down loads of floors in the lift underground and they are magically on the surface when the missiles hit and can just walk away but apart from that very petty nitpick haha its pretty perfect in my eyes
@@Dunc25535 Thank you! It seems like nobody else notices this. They should have been buried under at least five stories of rubble, instead Steve pushes off one single piece of junk and they are free. I am not sure why they bothered including a secret elevator when they could have just as easily said a secret door and not had to deal with how deep they go.
Really enjoying your takes on these. Couple of moments I like to call out from this one; one cinematic and one character. At the very start, when they’re out running, notice that at the moment Steve passes Sam, they’re always framed smack between two vertical things of some sort. I do wonder how many takes it took to get that. They coulda green screened it, but they do look like they’re shooting on-site. Second, and possibly my favorite moment in the whole film, is the scene @30:18, specifically what Sam does. He plunks down his resume and just steps back. Natasha asks him about a specific mission and doesn’t say or do anything to confirm; full poker face. He acknowledges that the photo is of his dead wingman, and when Natasha asks what they used, he doesn’t say what they used, only directs them to a page in the packet. One has to assume that Steve and Natasha have fairly high security clearance, but Sam still tells them as little as possible. Is he strictly following procedure regarding classified information? I can’t say; it’s outside my experience. I suspect (by real-world standards) he may be playing it a bit loose; be interesting to hear from someone with government experience. But it feels legit to someone like me, and lets you know a bit about who Sam is. Small moment, but one I really liked.
The relationship between Steve and Bucky is my absolute favorite part of the MCU. And Bucky may be my favorite fictional character ever. I have a cat named after him 😹 I loved your reaction, this movie can make me cry myself
I love Cap visiting the Smithsonian, obviously it reintroduces Peggy and Bucky but it also shows how much he's lost. Cap's own history doesn't really belong to him anymore; like Black Widow says he's a fossil, a relic out of time. Cap going back to reclaim his old uniform is him reclaiming his place in the world. Cap's attire reflects his character arc. He starts the movie in his SHIELD stealth suit with his shield repainted. He isn't the Sentinel of Liberty. Cap is "Fury's janitor", nothing more than a covert operative. Cap is framed and even that role is stripped away from him. He learns about Hydra and Bucky wearing street clothes. He's been betrayed and essentially defrocked. At the end he reclaims his uniform, the stars and stripes, and becomes Captain America again. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Sebastian Stan is a wildly underrated actor. I can't wait until you finally see Falcon and the Winter Soldier on D+. He has two of the most incredible acting moments I've ever seen, entirely pulled off with just his expression.

My brother in law was a Marine in Vietnam, his son did twenty years in the Air Force. Two men as far from comics as you could get. One Christmas I walked into their home at they were both in the living room watching this movie.

It’s kinda fun watching you become more and more invested in the characters as you progress through the series of movies. It’s a testament to how well they are crafted, making sure you get attached to and sympathetic for the characters, even sometimes making you feel for the villains. But maybe not this time, except for Bucky (who’s as much victim as villain).
I think the reason this feels bigger is because Steve Rogers is just a man doing his best in a world he doesn't quite understand - and that world is seemingly out to get him. (Which, BTW, is probably something we've all felt at one point or another.) He has super strength and reflexes, but he isn't a Norse god of thunder or a billionaire genius in high-tech armor who can take on armies single-handedly. The stakes are high, as they are in every MCU film, but they seem higher because Steve isn't actually THAT powerful compared to some of the other Avengers.
Exactly! And the only two people that are on his side are Black Widow and Falcon, both of whom are even more "human". Skilled and have some neat toys but still just flesh and blood. Like when Sam gets his wing torn off, that puts him completely out of the game.
Enjoyed your reaction again, and your guesses as to the Winter Soldier were quite good considering you hadn't seen all of the previews and trailers beforehand. And as long as the censors don't go after you, I don't mind if you swear up a storm. Take care, Ande.

Such a great film! Why the Cap series of films are my favorite. Hilarious reactions on thinking TWS was Natasha. Sure the long hair... The ending was great with Cap trying to get through to Bucky. I liked all the spy stuff going on and there is a huge shift with SHIELD going down because HYDRA was hiding inside. It kinda messed up the TV show.

My personal favorite MCU. And I’m a huge Thor (comic books) fan. First Thor Amazing! But this edge’s it out.

As a lifelong comic book fan, this is one I was worried about. They nailed it. The tone here is perfect. Easily in my top 5 MCU movies.
