There have been so few reactors that have taken on this show and I really don't get it, it's amazing. I don't know why more people aren't aware of it.

Can't watch that without tears, no matter how many times I see it

The captain of the aircraft carrier Iwo Jima that picked them up was played by the real life Jim Lovell. Ron Howard wanted to make him an admiral, but Lovell would have nothing of that. He retired as a captain, so he appeared as a captain. With his own real uniform.

The failed center engine was not a problem anymore at the end. It was part of the second stage that had been jettisoned long before the explosion happened.

Ron Howard put his whole family in this. Grandma Lovell was his mom, Jean. The priest was played by his dad, Rance. His brother, Clint, played the technician who rants about the IRS (he asked for this line, as he was under audit at the time). And so on.

As shown, usually they dump the urine out into space. When they had to shut everything down, they couldn't do that anymore (the urine nozzle worked like a rocket engine and would have pushed the ship off course). They had to use plastic bags and ... external catheters ... instead. Fred Haise misunderstood the rules and regulations on that and kept his on for too long, which is why he got a UTI. (Weightlessness messes with some bodily functions, and reduces the body's ability to detect when you need to pee.)

The oxygen in the exploded tank was not for breathing. They created electrical power by fuel cells, batteries that got fed oxygen, hydrogen, and putting out water (H2O) and electricity.

It was fairly common at the time (and maybe even today) that ... bodily excretions ... went out of control and floated around. Those astronauts had to have a strong stomach. I mean, they explain to us the liquid things. For the solid waste, they had bags with double sided tape sticking to their buttocks. Those sometimes came loose... and after finishing, they had to add chemicals (in tablet form) to it, seal the bags, and then knead them through to prevent them getting too bad over time. And sometimes the bags ripped...

The politician who suggest to cut the program for budget reasons was played by Roger Corman, legendary film producer infamous for making movies on shoestring budgets. Nevertheless, a lot of (young) filmmakers and directors worked for him, and basically learned the craft through his stinginess, including Ron Howard.

Tom Hanks stalled the Corvette accidentally, and improvised the "That's the second time she did this" line.

One hell of a banger of a season finale! I remember being shocked when Helena stabbed her birth mother, and shocked again when Sarah shot Helena. The patent reveal was well done. Art and Angela seeing Allison, they are now aware of 4 of the clones (though they don't know they are clones yet), Beth, Sarah, The German and now Allison. Speaking of the German, she was coughing up blood when we met her like Cosima is now. On top of that, she was telling them that some of the other clones were sick too.

Ok, so you have to go straight on to season 2! You're in for a ride. I have to ask: what do you think of Sarah's, Rachel's and Felix' accents? Sarah and Felix spent their early childhood in Brixton and are supposed to have an "estuary" accent. I suppose Rachel is supposed to be more "posh". Insofar as Tatiana Maslany and Jordan Gavaris are both Anglophone Canadians, how are they doing? I'm a west coast Yank so I don't know how legit their affected accents are. Great show in any case. I enjoy reliving it through your reactions.

I was in grad school when this came out. I had no real interest in it but was bored one day and decided to watch a movie and randomly picked this. One of the best movies I have ever seen.

Idental twins are clones they come from a single fertilised egg though often they are mirrored . . .

Well, we knew Alison had a _touch_ of darkness :). And Helena's the kind of broken that doesn't fix easily (unfortunately ? :). Really good finale (and it's not even my favourite), _lots_ going on but they manage it well IMO, it feels packed but not overwhelming. And I agree BTW, though it had a _very_ dedicated fanbase at the time, it's a shame more people don't seem to find this show (unlike e.g. 'Buffy', which still seems to pick up a regular trickle of new viewers 20+ years later). At or near top tier for me, deserves more eyeballs.

My stomach dropped again that Kira is missing. Even though I already know what's about to happen, it's because Sarah's panic feels so real! Props to Tatiana always but this episode in particular was crazy - especially the scene with Allison, Cosima and Sarah chatting. It still blows my mind that it's all Tatiana because those characters feel so different and unique from each other! I was shocked by so many things this episode on my first watch - Sarah actually shot Helena? So sad. That genome sequence was so hard to crack so who exactly was the branding message meant for? That always bugged me. Unless it was added just to Cosima's access code to taunt her/inform her? I don't know but I guess it doesn't matter much the why or the how it's just going forward dealing with the consequences. Great reaction, Ande. Looking forward to more. ~FM :)

I wish you continued luck with Spoiler avoidance. I know this series has a hard core following, but I do not think it is widely known. I mention it, as a suggestion, on a few react channels, and maybe get 1 or 2 likes for the suggestion, but not always. It is too bad, because, as you have discovered, it is a great show. Very much not what anyone could expect. You have hit a point where there could be a flood of spoilage. Try to stay ahead of the episodes, and maybe get a monitor (?) for your comment section. The show is too mind boggling to have it ruined - it would be a pity. Great reactions. Thank you for watching.

Subscribed for Orphan Black (one of my top 5 shows) but definitely here for Dollhouse too. If you do Buffy any time in the future I'll be seated for that too. I don't know if it's what you were thinking of - or if you're even a fan - but for me I will just say (to avoid spoiling for the few that haven't seen it...) Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 1, Hermione's spell near the beginning of the film. It evokes a similar feeling for me.

I am of the opinion that: 1. Ekko told Powder who he really is and where he came from while they were at the painting of Vi. That's why when Powder went to kiss him at the dance, he said, "Can we just pretend it's like the first time." 2. Powder, having witnessed firsthand of the destructive potential of the blue crystals, kept them hidden in the drawer so they wouldn't be used for more destruction and possible death. 3. Piltover and Zaun united after the death of Vi. 4. Jayce either perished in the blast as well, or he was banished from the academy and Piltover. He then possibly ended his life jumping off of that ledge. 5. Viktor, never retrieving Jayces' notes, probably died from his illness.

My favorite episode of the season is a big 'what if' that ties into the main plot. Really good emotional payoffs mixed with grief, tenderness and sadness, and the best episode of the third act, imo. Jayce really was going thru it

I love how much this series just loves people and chooses to show how amazing people can be. How it emphasises that connecting with other people, helping them, loving them is what makes us most human. How we have so much in common even if we live totally different lives on different sides of the world. It’s just so positive and joyful and non-judgmental that it makes me wanna cry. I honestly believe if people watched this series and took its message to heart world would be a better place. I love how sex positive it is too, which is rare for an American series. It doesn’t shy away from showing sex in all its beauty and silliness and never acts like it is something to be ashamed of or something you should be punished for. I'm so sad that the series was canceled but they did an amazing job bringing it to a satisfying conclusion! We need more things like sense8 ❤

Awesome reaction! It is such a good episode, a complete emotional rollercoaster! You may have missed it, but the record in the jukebox at the start had Ekko and Powder on instead of Vi and Jinx! Though tbh, I think it is good as your reaction to Powder showing up in Benzo's was great! Looking forward to the next one!!

Yeah, Maslany has that thing where, when she cries, you cry (Sarah Michelle Gellar and _especially_ Alyson Hannigan also have it in spades for me). And Alison's so much fun. She has that mark of a great character where you can pair her with basically _any other_ character (but especially Felix) and get pure gold :).

The German sis a study from 39 onward that culminated in the design of the mp44 the worlds 1st assault rifle because they found that if in a covered position without peer pressure if there was an enemy beyond 500 yards most soldiers unless threatened or seen, wouldn’t fire. One it gives thier position away and two, given the opportunity most people will not kill. It’s in our psychological make up. Try ‘we were soldiers’ with Mel Gibson. Another realistic portrayal

I love that you had to watch this episode just minutes after the last one because of the cliffhanger. Maybe keep a bit of free time in your schedule when you are going to watch an episode or two of this. This was the first example of it, but you can expect that to happen again. The truth of it, in my opinion, is that the episodes are so busy and complicated that it is hard to pick a proper ending point for the episode. The writers of the show seem to wrap up episodes in ways that help you "timestamp" where you are in the story. Thanks for sharing your reaction to this! Stay awesome.

I feel this is a good time to remind ourselves that one actress is playing all of these very distinct characters

The only people allowed to speak directly to the astronauts in the spacecraft, were the Capsule Communicators (Capcoms), and they were *always* astronauts.

During the mission, Gene Kranz never actually said "Failure is not an option." He did however use it as the title of his autobiography.

There was never any doubt about Swigert's ability to dock with the LEM. He was more than competent to do it. If for any reason he couldn't do it, there were two other astronauts on board, either of whom could have done it.

If he operates the abort switch, the rocket motors on the launch escape tower (the slender white tube, on the lattice work tower, above the Command Module) fire, yanking the Command Module clear of the rocket, and it parachutes back to earth. It also fires automatically, if the rocket explodes or breaks up in flight. When he announced "Tower Jett", he was saying he'd just jettisoned the Launch Escape System (he pushed the button marked LES Motor Fire), because it was no longer usable.
