    I used to sprout everything. Then I got out of the habit. Thanks for the reminder. I will go right out to the kitchen and sprout some. I have a slower cooker full of black bean chili brewing. I think these would be great complement. I appreciate your advice.

      Be careful, beans in the slow cooker don't get hot enough to cook off toxins and can be very dangerous. Some beans need to be boiled (if you are used canned beans, this is not issue as those are already cooked to safety).

    I’m not sure I understand or if you’re being very clear you say to fill the jar with water and let them sit in the water overnight then the next day you dump the water rinse them to fill it back up with water and do that for four days in a row or they only soak overnight once and then now they’re just wet and sit in an empty jar like the lentil guy has them sitting on his window sill??? His method was to let them soak one time overnight and then the subsequent days rinsing but dumping the water...

      You soak (with water in jar) overnight once. For the next couple of days you only rinse with water but pour excess out (so there is moisture in jar only, not excess water)

      Thanks for asking the exact question I had in mind. I couldn't figure out what she was saying either. The way the video was edited just added to the confusion.

    Do you refrigerate during the soaking process, we are in hot humid Florida...concerned about mold.

    This sounds good! Can I eat the sprouted lentils right away or do I have to boil/cook them for a salad? Thank you!

      you use raw lentils - the soaking process absorbs water to soften them over time and eventually prompt sprouting

    Are the lentils always suppose to be submerged?

    • @eatlentils
      @eatlentils  4 года назад +5

      During first night soak, they should be submerged initially (they will absorb water so in the AM they will likely no longer be submerged). For the subsequent rinses, water should be drained so water should no longer sit in the jar, but drained off before sitting.

    "Just fill it up like this." Like what? How many cups of lentil beans did you put in? Does it matter?
