The Reign of the Superman storyline John Henry Irons honors Superman by modifying his Steel armor calling himself Superman in his honor in the comics. John Henry Irons debut was of course in animation with Worf Michael Dorn voicing him in the episode of Superman: TAS "Heavy Metal" episode where he faces off against Malcolm McDowell's John Corbin/Metallo.
David Ramsey is going to also direct season 6 episode 12 of Supergirl as well and starring in the episode. Ramsey is also going to appear in Legends of Tomorrow playing cowboy/gunslinger character which will be like another Weird Western tales.
I'm still grinning on that reveal. My mind was seriously blown by the reveal. All this time I thought he was a different version of Lex Luthor from another Earth and this whole time only for it to turn out he's John Henry Irons, aka Steel! On top of that, the AI in the armor was an AI that belonged to Lex Luthor and though he was Lex this entire time! In fact, seems like the suit itself was built from Lex's battle suit. On top of that, he's got the signature hammer!. They took a huge gamble with this and it paid off brilliantly. This version of John Henry Irons comes off like the hero of his own story. I do hope we revisit his Earth just to watch the war with the Kryptonians play out. But I have a feeling tragedy is on the way. In the end he's remembering a promise he made to Natasha his daughter that he'll return so clearly something happened. That something was clearly the Crisis On Infinite Earths and John no longer has a home to go back to. He's a man who lost everything and that warped his mind. He truly thinks Superman will go bad. Steel is a underrated character and doesn't get as much credit he deserves, but has proved to be a awesome character.
It's because he's not a villain. He only seems that way to us because we know this Clark and Superman. He's a hero on his Earth and I can only imagine they'll make him one on this Earth because he does have his heart in the right place. He just needs to accept this is a different Earth, a different Clark. And I think he will. It was such an awesome reveal.
The same guys who produced the first two episodes of Superman and Lois just got pegged for the upcoming Green Lantern Corps show. The same dudes who brought the classic Action Comics suit to life. I'm so happy right now.😌
In the Reign of the Supermen comic run, John Henry Irons was referred to as Man of Steel, when he had the suit and hammer. So, yeah, this episode was awesome. In the comics, Superman saved his life and so he dedicated his life in replacing Superman when Doomsday killed him. So, to have him dedicate his life for a different reason, because of Superman killing his wife is a slick move.
Not only this episode revealed that the Stranger Is John Henry Irons aka Steel they also revealed that Jonathan and Jordan have a half sister In a way.
I'm starting to wonder if he even is Clark Kent on that Earth. Unless the Kent's were awful people there, there's no way they'd let him become that person. I hope we'll explore that more.
I loved the big reveal/plot twist man, completely caught me off guard even with the title of the episode being "Man of Steel" I recently just read "The Death of Superman" comics so this was perfect timing.
Such a great show. Haven't loved a twist like that since... well, okay, since Mandalorian. And that was only a few months ago. We are so lucky that Nerd TV is what it is today.
At first, I thought Captain Luthor/The Stranger was Martian Manhunter when he said Superman destroyed his world. When it was revealed he was John Henry Irons/Steel, I went 😱!
That's awesome. I was also perplexed by the way he rolled his "r" in that scene. Eric Voss is gonna cook up an entire theory based on that, erasing the r's from "John Henry Irons" and rearranging the letters so they coincide with a Kryptonian prophecy, or something.
See what John Henry Irons doesn’t understand is that the Superman on his earth didn’t have a Lois Lane or 2 kids like he does on this earth which is why he would never become what he did on the other earth like we saw in this episode he was about to punch Steel but Lois pulled him out of it
I prefer to think that he just didn't have Jonathan & Martha Kent as parents. As much as I like Lois Lane, I've never been too keen on the idea of her being his tether to reason. It was the genuine goodness of the people that raised him as Clark Kent that kept him grounded.
@@TyrannosavageRekt for me i'd like to think that the X-Kryptonite changed Superman when Edge completed his plan on that Earth. In that way, it doesn't matter if he grew up as a good person or not. But I agree with you that Lois Lane shouldn't be the fundamental root of Supes greatness.
@@izs6946 Oh yeah, I'm not saying that's got anything to do with him being bad on their Earth, there could be any number of reasons. Just not a fan of the idea of him being awful without Lois. Kind of the same reason that "Lois is the key" rubs me up the wrong way in the Snyderverse. Clark Kent was a fundamentally good person before he met Lois Lane, though she perhaps helps him be an even better version of himself.
You gotta check out the Death and Return Of Superman. And I think Warner Animation animated the story a few years ago, so you don't have to read anything.

I first learned about Steel when I played DC Universe Online many years ago there was the Tier 1 gear which was the Steel Mk II armour based on steel himself and I created a character with flash style electricity powers but with an origin based on tech I created SteelSpeed an incident occurred and I hard to recreate the character so I created SteelVelocity... got up as far as tier 5 then quit due to the in-game currency limit being pay-walled (it meant you couldn't repair gear at that level unless you payed membership regardless if the dlc's were perma payed for!)
im ngl i was hoping "luthor" would join the cast kinda like a team flash but like team supes maybe, i love the actor and hes killing it as this stranger
This show did something good IMO. They made us think they race bent lex luthor but instead they put a twist to it giving us the reveal of John Irons aka steel. But WB wants to race bend Kal-El for some reason.
I wouldn't be mad at that as long as it's the best actor possible, but when you set out to race bend a character before you even write a script, that's when I get pissed of, not to mention they officialy announced it on Henry Cavill birthday 😡😡😡😡
I was hoping y'all would recognize John Henry Irons, aka Steel. Remember the Saquiel O'Neil movie? He was also the "other" Superman aside from Cyborg Superman and Superboy.
So steel crafted a makeshift Mjonlr hammer... It's almost scary that Clark is easily capable of becoming Injustice Superman when under life threatening situations.
I like how Steel was almost the (tech) Superman of his world. Married to Lois Lane, trying to save the world, and powerful enough to go up against Kryptonians. Now, he can take up his Steel mantle in a future Death of Superman arc they will most likely be moving toward at some point (even of he comes back a few episodes later, or is just taken out of commission for a bit)

His solar radiation absorption is very small, he would burn out fast even if he did manage to get his powers under control.
Still holding out hope that Jonathan gets powers. If he does I think he and Jordan will share them. Like Jordan has heat vision and strength, so maybe Jonathan will get flight and freeze breath.
Same. Shouldn't he be tested also just in case. Don't recall that being done or not. That would have been move number 2 for me. If he is totally....um, inert? or human recessive? Wouldn't blow my mind if he gained powers some other way like Morgan's people.
@@xerozeven I think Clark said he tested them both but neither of them showed any signs of having powers. Jordan's are developing overtime, same thing could be for Johnathan.

I wonder since Luthor ended up being Steel if we're going to see proper Lex Luthor down the line. I mean it is a Superman show so it only makes sense to have Jon Cryer show up. Also Supergirl is ending so it would make sense for Cryer to pop over to Superman & Lois since he is Superman's greatest enemy.

Batfleck from 2016 needs that Hammer ASAP.
This show is just next level
whether superman is evil or not, he and Lois are always on the same frame.
watch reign of the supermen Steel features heavily , hes also a member of the Justice League
THE SUPERMAN AND LOIS !!!
I Hope they Reveal What Earth John Henry Irons Comes From along with what happened to His Superman, I Mean we Know what Happened to His Earth it was Destroyed in Crisis but it would be Nice to see what Happened to Evil Superman to see the Look on His Face when he Sees Crisis Coming and he is Powerless to Stop it.
Hey guys, are you going to react to superman and loiis season 2 which started this past tuesday?
This video has more views than my entire in 10 seconds. 1 day I will have the same number of views. :)
The whole episode all I did was say can they sit down and just explain to Irons what happened to the multiverse
That scene of evil superman was masterful, beautiful cgi
This show is just getting great!
This show is so good and angry Superman scares the shit out of me.
I first learned of Steel through the Shaq movie! DC prolly wants me to forget that movie exists.
