  • The entry-level luxury SUV segment is exploding in popularity, and now every manufacturer has their hands in the pot. The latest offerings to emerge all come from Japan, and all have starting prices around $38,000. It's the all-new 2019 Acura RDX versus the also all-new Infiniti QX50 with its wild VC Turbo engine versus the new-ish for 2018 Lexus NX300 F-Sport. Which is best? It's time to hit the road and find out.

    Tested out all 3 vehicles. Ended up buying the Infiniti QX50, for me, it has by far a much more elegant/classy look inside and out (which is what I was looking for) with amazing fuel efficiency, super roomy and very fun to drive.
    Purchased White exterior, wheat black interior (didn’t think it was worth extra money for the top tier signature model as interior already amazing on this trim level)
    Just my take. The NX would be the last on my list. Happy car shopping! Cheers 🍻

    I would agree. I love Infinity and Lexus (my previous car was a 2005 Lexus RX 330 and aside from the steering column being in the way of my long legs, I loved it). When I checked out the next vehicle to buy the Acura was the most fun and most practical. It had the most trunk space while still being the size of a sedan. By the way there is a great reason to get the Advanced package. I'm not sure I could ever drive another car again without the Heads Up Display without being at least a little annoyed :)

    The Acura RDX 2019 is better than the others and it's not even close. The Acura should be judged against the likes of the Merc GLE, Aud Q5, BMW x3, and Volvo XC60 at this point, they have actually delivered on what they set out to do which was compete with aforementioned German/Swedish car makers.

    • @ビップレクサス
      @ビップレクサス 6 лет назад +1

      Witness "Da Truth" Actually - no. The Acura RDX wouldn't compete with the GLE or Q5. It would compete against the GLC and Q3. The GLE and Q5 are MDX level price and territory. Secondly - I disagree. Its closer than you think. That's why people are still comparing it. If you actually, actually look into the features list within the Lexus NX F-Sport and Acura RDX A-Spec, they are pretty close. Super close if you ask me. The RDX A-Spec loses a lot of the features that only the Advance pack has and this what makes it close to the QX50 and NX F-Sport.
      Again - at the end of the day - these cars all compete very well against each other. Each car offers something unique. Something for what the market craves.

    • @notapodcast_Podcast
      @notapodcast_Podcast 6 лет назад

      +ビップ レクサス No, the RDX in the same category as the Q5, X3, GLE & XC60 price doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it. They base them on size cabin/storage capacity that's why they fall under the midsize SUV category. The Q3, X1, XC40 and the GLC I get confused with the acronyms sometimes are considered compact SUVs at least here in the US. The feature list on the RDX is much better than what's offered on the NX F-Sport the material in the cabin are also better and that god awful infotainment system that Lexus has that still doesn't offer Apple car play or Android Auto is a no go. I can go on and on and based on reviews I'm not the only person to feel this way. I've been inside all these cars mentioned in this thread and I really believe the RDX is at the top of the list based on what you get for the price, I understand some people tend to go for the badge which is fine hence why Merc, BMW, and others sell really well but if you want a great car with modern technology that's not going to break the bank the RDX is to be seriously considered.

    • @ビップレクサス
      @ビップレクサス 6 лет назад

      Witness "DaTruth" Price doesn't mean everything but its part of the competition equation. Think about it. Would you consider a Infiniti Q50 Red Sport to compete with a M3? No. Because the M3 cost double the price. Price, equipment, size, and segment is everything to the competition equation.
      Here are my reasons why the Acura RDX does NOT compete with the GLE and Q5 is:
      1) GLE and Q5 are not the ENTRY-LEVEL entries into the SUV segment. They are the step up. The Acura RDX is not the step up. Its the entry-level luxury answer to the entry-level luxury SUV market.
      2) GLE starts at 50K while the GLC starts at 40K. Doesn't it seem like the GLC is the better competitor to the the Acura RDX starts at 37K? You also mention the X3 competes with the RDX, which is true. Explain this: its true - the X3 is the RDX competitor because the X5 is a step up. What does the X5 compete with? The GLE. How does GLE compete with the X5 and the GLE? Lastly - the GL "E" means this is the E class SUV. Meaning its the step up.
      3) The Q5 is a trickly situation. The Q3 cost less than the RDX but the Q5 cost more than the RDX. I segment this as the RDX hitting the middle ground. Its better than the Q3 but not quite the Q5. Hence - Acura is undercutting here to make buyers get the RDX.

    • @ビップレクサス
      @ビップレクサス 6 лет назад

      Witness "DaTruth"
      The feature list on the RDX A-Spec is not "much better" than the NX F-Sport. I would agree if you said the RDX Advance Pack features are much better. The fact is - the RDX A-Spec and NX F-Sport are fairly balanced in terms of features which makes them a good competitor. *The way I see it is: NX F-Sport = RDX A-Spec /// RDX Advance > NX.*
      Here's my reasoning:
      NX F-Sport comes with:
      Premium Triple LED Beams (If optioned). Full LED all around. (RDX don't have rear LED turn signals)
      Power folding mirrors (RDX don't have this)
      Heated Wheel (Only Advance Pack for RDX)
      360 Camera (Only Advance Pack for RDX)
      Adaptive Camber (Only Advance Pack for RDX)
      Hybrid option
      Rain sensing wipers
      Acura RDX A-Spec comes with:
      Pano roof
      Better sound system
      Better performance numbers
      More space
      AWD option
      (Lets not forget you don't get HUD on the A-Spec either)
      I don't want to make this post too long as in its already too long. So I didn't list all the features (unique) to the NX F-Sport and Acura RDX A-Spec. If you have time, I highly suggest you compare the NX F-Sport to the RDX A-Spec. Its closer than you think it may me. However - if we are talking about the Advance Package, the RDX is better. The problem here is and I said it before - Acura should let you get both the A-Spec/Advance pack together. But until then - the NX F-Sport, I believe slots right in the middle. RDX Advance > NX F-Sport > RDX A-Spec. Think of it this way - the Lexus NX doesn't have a trim level over the F-Sport that competes with the Advance.
      The reviewers, yes, they all say the Acura RDX is better. But that doesn't make it so. What a lot of reviewers and other people get mistaken with is they start comparing 2 different models to the NX F-Sport. They say the RDX handles good (Talks about the A-Spec) and then they say the RDX is better (Talks about the Advance Pack). That's the issue. The other glaring issue is - everyone is obsessed with new hype. Almost 90% of the time, a car is better because its newer.
      Last point. RDX does not have Android Auto. Also - the Lexus NX will have Apple Car Play in 2019. Essentially - this is tied right now. Also - I would NEVER consider Apple Car Play and Android Auto to be a "luxury" feature that is consideration of what car is better. Think about it - we are going to let an App that mirrors your phone decide how good your car is? Majority of luxury car owners won't use those Apple Car Play anyways. On Audi/Porsche forums - they hate the feature. Imagine how dull your S-Class would look if you use Apple Car Play over the MBUX system? It'll be stupid. Apple Car Play is good for an older car or non-luxury car. At the end of the day - you bought your RDX to use the fancy 1:1 touch and Acura's new system - not an Apple system that will always stay the same.

    I think the QX50’s traction control system is the culprit for the on ramp situation. I had a Q50s awd. Happened to me once or twice. Also it happened to me in my G37xs. Both 7th speed transmission. It never happened in my G35xs. Loved that car! Drove it in sport most times. Five speed was great. No hesitations. No lag. The Q50 in manual mode will use 5 speeds. No lag in manual if I remember correctly. Turn of traction and no problem with the engine cutting back on power. I think Infiniti is a great deal for the money. Very reliable. Infotainment system, easy to use, but needs work. I had to change the run flats a few times in the Q50. They where screw and nail magnets. Supposedly they fixed that problem. Although they offer tire insurance.

  • @opaextreme9282

    I've test drove all of these and the RDX was the best driving, though the Infiniti was a nice smooth ride, and has the quietest cabin. the other two are more noisy, and you can even here it in the review. Fuel economy is a key issue in my next purchase and the 23mpg of rdx, is great for the power, but not good enough for my GF, of which we'd be buying this together. qx50 has best mpg, and lexus, isn't really lexus quality on the NX (as per more than one of the pro reviewers out there).. they dropped the ball on true lux level... I still like the rdx, but the infiniti is nice enough and with better mpg, by 2-3mpg's average, that's good savings thru-out the year... Still not decided, but few notes... oh, also some rdx customer reviews are coming out and few "new model" issues already, including simple thing like the stitching on the steering wheel, come loose. I don't like cvt's either, but open to it, if they're better now... Still need to find some real world mpg's for the qx50.

      Traded in my QX60 for the new QX50 and loving every bit ,it is a very good suv as far as MPG mixed driving best I am getting is 22mpg 🤔 but I think all Infiniti models are overrated for MPG I owned 5 different models and none of them ever got the advertised MPG . Still love them and will continue buying this brand . Test drove the sporty Acura RDX did not like it , Infiniti QX50 is a better all around

    • @opaextreme9282
      @opaextreme9282 6 лет назад

      you do lots of city or hwy, as that 22mpg means more knowing this ? also, are you a bit on the lead foot side, being the first to get ahead on green lights or mild driver ?.. oh, and are you in hot climate area and have the A/C on full time ? I'm in Canada and don't use it as often.
      Re: Infinit quality, my mechanic tells me Nissan in general isn't so great and it's on the lower quality side of things, and it's a glorified Nissan. but you've had good reliable experience ? or not, but still love them for their comfort and sporty performance ? I care more about their reliability than coolness... Doesn't the government determine the epa rating ? or do they do it and lie ? I can't buy it, if I suspect I'll get less than 25mpg or so.

    This comparison is starting to look dead and dried out. Lets look at it this way: the Acura RDX 2nd generation came out 2 years before the Lexus NX was released. Guess what happened in 2015? People were saying the Acura RDX was outdated and the Lexus NX is the true winner. What's happening here? 1-2 years before the Lexus NX gets the new model - people are on here saying the Lexus NX is outdated and the Acura RDX is winner. How to win first? Be the first one to change your car. How to win last? Be the last one to change your car. I'll predict what will happen in 2020 - people will claim the Lexus NX is the winner and the Acura RDX is outdated.
    The general rule is - if the car is newer (model year), the car tends to be better.
    *What people aren't discussing here is - the Lexus NX F-Sport (which is 1 generation older) is still being able to compete with the Acura RDX A-Spec.* Despite being on a new generation, the Acura RDX fails to have power folding mirrors, LED rear turn signals, and other features the NX F-Sport has. Granted - the RDX A-Spec has stuff the NX F-Sport don't have either. But this what makes the competition between both of these cars balanced.
    What a lot of people are doing here is - mix / matching the A-Spec features with the Advance Pack features. You can't get them both. If we are strictly talking about the Advance Pack RDX, the Lexus NX can't compete.
    Side note: for those of you comparing power in a SUV segment - then you are in the wrong segment. The average joe doesn't buy an SUV because it has more HP/TQ. Lexus is able to sell boat loads of the NX with just a RAV4 engine.

    Informative and have covered specs of 3 cars in shorter time. However, i have noticed that you have mentioned only about the audio system of Acura(especially by mentioning the brand name and number of speakers) and omitted the same of Lexus and Infiniti. plus you have included the sunroof details of only Acura(again dropped Lexus & Infiniti).

      Couldn't get everything in there. As far as the audio, nothing is touching the Acura. Seriously mindblowing stuff, that ELS audio system.

      There are several other reviews that also claim the ELS 3D studio in the RDX is the best sound system they have ever heard in any car. He probably just omitted the other two just to inform us which one sounds the best of the three.

    CVTs are great for small sedans that do nothing but drive on paved streets. They are not suited for SUV/CUVs with AWD! Whereas the tires and awd system might limit a normal AWD SUV from doing good offroad, an SUV with a CVT is limited by the CVT by having it limit power in order to reduce transmission damage. That's what happened in this video. A CVT transmission is unable to handle a lot of toque to 4 wheels. It's the same thing with the QX50, and if you want more proof, go look at the CRV and Nissan offroad tests, or acceleration tests. The CVT always cuts off power in order to prevent the CVT chain from grinding away at the cone walls. It's really stupid to put a CVT system in an crossover or SUV with awd!

    This guy is a joke. Quite clear who he liked best.
    I test drove all three to see which one I liked best.
    The CV feature that allows for way greater gas savings in today's market is a huge plus for savings.
    I like two screens, how often are you on map screen in the city and switching back and forth for other items. Two screens less switching back and forth.
    QX50 has the rear seats able to recline and also go forward..wow wait they recline!!!
    The drive is so soft and smooth..
    The crap oh guess what happened when I mysteriously shut my camera off..ya right.
    Also it has a Bowes high end system...
    Acura inside looks like a race car trying to be a suv trying to be a luxury vehicle. They mixed all three hoping to grab every taste. Acura can't make up their own minds. Identity problem for Acura you bet.
    Lexus is Lexus and that said you get an amazing vehicle where it knows what it's identity is.
    That said I went with the QX50 over the Lexus.
    Acura figure out your interior identity... Be one not three.
    That said I'm done... Oh and my camera did not amazingly turn off like his did for Infinity and Lexus...
