    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 6 лет назад

      Many manufactures use a dial which would be much easier/more intuitive to use. Some use a combo of both dial and touch screen. Mercedes uses a combo of a dial and little touch pad. But IMO, a single touchpad mounted flatly is a bad idea. At least Mercedes has their pad mounted up and angled at driver. This design is the worse of the the bunch. Its seems to be driven by lowering component costs and price points. The entire interior is full of hard plastics and very cluttered when compared to the German competition like BMW/Audi. However, the RDX does have a lower entry level price. And it shows. When they first came out with the RDX they claimed this would be class leading. They are joking right?

    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 6 лет назад

      Actually it is a direct competitor in this class. So much so that Acura brought an X3, mercedes GLC 300 and a few others to compare with their RDX. Their claim was it IS class leading. I think it was on Roman's channel. Also remember, when you option this out with AWD etc.. it will price closely with a X3/Mercedes. At that point only a few thousand less. And if one is buying this as just an FWD then I can see your point. But a 45K dollar RDX when compared to a 47K dollar X3 with xdrive would be just a waist of money.

    • @TheMB2333
      @TheMB2333 6 лет назад +1

      Go buy a Mercedes then. What's your point? You win. RDX is garbage Honda. Unbelievable.

    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 6 лет назад

      Did not say the RDX is garbage. The problem is this is the most competitive class on the market and high sales are proof of that. What is so unbelievable about my post? I did agree that when buying the lower price point version of this (FWD only) that i DO agree with you. You can't buy any benz or bimmer for under 40K in this class of SUV. However, when you option out the RDX to closely compete with the X3 and GLC 300 4 matic then the RDX may fall short. I'm still going to check them out tomorrow. Don't care for this one in the video but will see if they have one with the tech and advance package with AWD. That one looks better then the one on this video. My main concern is claims of lower performance and worse fuel mileage. Others reviewers claim the RDX does not have as good road handling/feel as the german counterparts. So far I've only driven the X3 and like that. Did not drive the Benz. Really don't care for the interior layout. Can't judge the RDX too much until I see it.

You can adjust the position of the display on your windshield and adjust the brightess. It is NOT distracting at all...makes for a great cockpit feel! Also he missed the toe sensor at the tailgate ; one second under center of bumper, your foot will be able to open AND close the tailgate just by sticking it underneath a second. THe Sound system ALSO ROCKS!!! Every track sounds like a HD master recording....beats the HELL outta my wife's Infiniti QX50 BOSE system. Actually it beats everything about that Infiniti. @michaelbradford6990 6 лет назад

      There is a state of the art fuel conservation mode you can enable that turns of the engine at stoplights (which I will immediately disable) and all four of the mode settings (call them personalities) have their own set of stats. So you would have to show me the MPG in 4 different ratios if you are referring to 2019 RDX Advance package. Dec 1st it ours. We Test Drove every direct competitor except for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. We're THRILLED with the purchase. Don't need your luck, but thanks for the offer.

    • @chadhaire1711
      @chadhaire1711 6 лет назад +1

      ROK: Auto stop conservation mode doesn't do anything to save gas unless you live in LA traffic as you will find out. All it does is drive you nuts...give it a month you will be turning it off. The 4-mode only makes a difference in SPORT...not much difference there either unless you are racing..as you will find out. Old V-6 engine was 19/27 mpg in real world, this 4 banger turbo 16/23 tops...doesn't matter if premium or regular is used.

    • @michaelbradford6990
      @michaelbradford6990 6 лет назад +1

      I already stated I would turn it OFF immediately. The modes are not solely a change in transmission ratio, it affects the entire suspension and braking settings as well. You will see those stats change in the first 6 mos. when people learn how to use the huge amount of settings to optimize their preferences. Either way, were you to test drive every car I did, I'm positive you would come to the same conclusion about the total package value and delivery.

    100% of RDX owners would not take it offroad. However, you should test it on snow where most of the AWD owners would like to know. I know its not possible to do it without snow. The complicate Ipad like entertainment menu control, turbo, and CVT forced me to buy a 2018 RDX AWD. By the way, 0 - 60 on my 2018 is 5.8 seconds. So either the turbo was lacking, or you didn't test it correctly.

    One comment I would like to make is that in Canada, the RDX is offered with electric folding side mirrors and a heated windshield. For a car made in the US it seems unfair to us that these options are not available. Even if you don't need them they should have been available in the U.S. Having said that, I still bought the car and love it, but I wish I could have gotten those two options.

    Bought my Acura RDX A-Spec in June, and overall I love my baby. A few things I noticed, the transmission is busy when going 20 to 30 miles per hour, and shifts pretty abruptly. When starting from a stop on a hill, and not pressing on the gas, the transmission is also pretty rough at going into 2nd. Also, at high speeds, when slowing, It feels as though the brakes are worn, but I think it may be the transmission downshifting 10 gears abruptly. Anyone else experiencing this? I have an oil change coming up, and will bring this up, but it would be nice to know that I am not going crazy.

    It's not a touch screen because its safer that way. With touchscreens you have to take a lot of focus off the road to focus on where you are touching on the screen vs like bmws iDrive I wish Honda had something similar since I'm buying a 2019 Pilot Elite next week it's hard to do anything on the touch screen while driving but I love Honda for the reliability so I will just deal with it

    Wished you had spent less time on testing 0 to 60 mph in various modes and more time on discussing mundane choices, like: AWD vs. FWD - is it worth the difference in price? The shift lever is gone - just push button - that seems to me to be a major adjustment for many. How is the radio tuned? - with the interface or with dials? Those issues to me are so much more important than discussing shaving off a half second getting to 60 mph.

      The V6 was faster and got better mpg. The slight elevation above sea level does not affect the power that much and besides the air temp doesn't look all that hot. At sea level on an 85 degree day I'd expect similar 0 to 60 times. My Tundra has a lifetime average of 21.5 mpg running on regular with the smaller 4.6 V8 and 4x4. I'd expect the RDX to get 25 mpg with my driving and premium fuel, so fuel cost is similar to large pickup truck, not good at all. EPA ratings don't translate into the real world all that well with turbo engines. Naturally Aspirated engines usually beat the EPA ratings if your a conservative driver.

    @HiPlains1 6 лет назад

    Been looking around at this segment of small SUV and on paper, the RDX looks like it could be a value. The engine HP/torque would appear it would probably beat the BMW X3. But the transmission tuning/engine seem to be woefully lacking here. Looking at the speed tests it just does not appear to have that German smoothness of constant acceleration. The X3 standard bi turbo hits 60 in 6 seconds. And the Bimmer will probably get 3-4 MPG more as well. In general, the Germans really know how to maximize MPG/power. The other problem here is the interior, when compared to the X3 or Audi Q5 or the upcoming Q3 looks cheap. Full of hard plastics and the entire console does not look modern at all. Or as the newer designs are aiming at a much cleaner/less cluttered look. The touch pad is a terrible idea. People always have stuff in that area. Think purses, bags etc.. that will land right on that. The dial is used by some. Many use touch screens and some will use a combo of both. But a touch pad? The other real issue here is it looks like an analog tach. Most are going to full digital screens now that are programmable.
    However, I also realize that the price point is lower then some of the competition. However, a fully optioned RDX will still climb to around 48K. A nicely equipped X3 that will destroy this in interior design, MPG, Handling and power will set you back about the same. I was going to test drive the RDX tomorrow but I doubt I will waist any time with Acura. As good as this is the Germans are really taking this class to another level. If you don't believe me just view a few video's of the 2018 X3 and the upcoming audi Q3 which IMO, sets the level even higher then the bimmer. Mercede's does a pretty good job with the GLC 300 4-matic but screwed up the instrument cluster with far too many buttons and using a dial/touch pad interface. Compared to the X3/Audi Q3 the mercedes looks old in its interior layout. The RDX fares even worse then the Mercedes. It reminds me of layouts from about 5 years ago.

Gloss surfaces do not belong in high traffic touch points, like around your transmission selector or buttons for the climate control. Lexus seems to be one of the very few companies that gets this.
