    Thank you so much for that information. I’ve been making soap for the last four years and I’m considering selling. Do you have another video that has insurance information? How do I go about getting it. Thank you for whatever help you can give me!

    Hi there, so if you make soap at home base business and sale it to public? Do we have to register to FDA office to approve ours soap is safe?

    What if your soap weights are not consistent? My bars are appx the same size. Pick it up and heft the weight. Does it feel worth $7? Buy it.

    Does net wt. include the packaging? --- I hate that they don't allow PO Boxes... I wish they'd change that. I've been stalked before so this is a serious issue for many.

    • @1960markN
      @1960markN 6 лет назад

      "NET WEIGHT" is the way of describing just the contents of a package--does not include package, that would be "GROSS WEIGHT". An example would be the rating of a bridge where they would want to know the "gross weight", the weight of the cargo AND the truck. I can't imagine gross weight ever being used for soap.

    Thank you for putting this video together. I have two questions that I hope you can/will answer for me. I make soap in South Carolina, USA and only sell within the states. I prefer to sell my soap naked (no packaging). I provide all the information you've listed here, plus ingredients, online as well as printed out when selling in person.
    I've heard differing things about using ingredients in the name of a soap. So from your video am I allowed to call a soap that contains pine tar, "Pine Tar Soap" or would I have to call it "Soap, pine tar scented"?
    Also, I don't label my individual bars (no packaging) but I do stamp them with their name. Occasionally I stamp them with one or more of their ingredients. I've read that I can't list partial ingredients, and as soon as you list one you have to list them all. I do list all ingredients online and printed, but I don't do it on each individual bar. Should I not, therefore, stamp a single ingredient in the surface of my Soap?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I know this video is old, but here is my question: as online sales grow, aren't people weary of putting their home address on labels if they are a home based business? Is there a way to not do this?

    • @mochs62512
      @mochs62512 3 года назад

      It has to be in an online directory. But it has to be somewhere, either on the label or online.

    What if the soap is melt and pour? Does it still qualify for the first point you made? Also I have a family member who is allergic to coconut oil and I use them in my soaps. What if she were to get a homemade soap and not know it had coconut oil in it because it wasnt labeled and she ended up hospitalized? How does this work? I would personally label my soaps ingredients like that

    If selling wholesale to retailers, can the street address of retailers be used and named as 'Distributors' or 'Sellers'? If that gives them product liability, how can they be indemnified?

    Marie Gale i have a Question. Do you put warning information on your product so people can't sue you if they are allergic to any of the ingredients in you product? Do you just list this information on your website?

    I sell patterned soap and shaped soaps so would like the customers to be able to see the soap.

    Thank you Marie, great video and very informative. I have a question. If the name of your company already has the word "Soap" in it. Are you still required to add the word on another line? It just seems a bit redundant for it to be labeled twice on the front label.
    Thank you, again.

    • @beebee2783
      @beebee2783 4 года назад +1

      I believe it classifies it as a drug because it is actually changing the physiology of the skin and doesn't just conceal. Cosmetic is temporary outer changes.

    • @waltervega8730
      @waltervega8730 4 года назад

      @@beebee2783 you can only put that it cleans. You can't claim anything else on the labelm

      @@waltervega8730 Yes I know that, the original question was asking if a product would be considered a cosmetic or a drug. True soap is what you are speaking of.

      Glows Dementia we have to submit the recipe to health Canada office so they can check its safety. If we make any changes to a recipe, re-submit the form. Fortunately, they have recently put the form online so we don't have to mail it it. I suspect that Lots of soapmakers though don't even know that this is a legal requirement.
