Good reaction, here are some things in those episodes to think about, in case you missed those)
    1. Fullbringers are back because they were slain by Shinigami swords and thus were reincarnated in the soul society.
    2. The Uncle Kukaku Shiba mentioned strangely reminds of Isshin, hinting some connection between Ichigo, his dad and whole Shiba family, including Kaien. Maybe that’s why back in the soul society arc everybody said Ichigo looks like Kaien.
    3. Glad you noticed that Kenpachi lieutenant and Unohana “Retsu” share the same name. There was a little flashback in the soul society with Kenpachi and Yachiru first meeting, he said he gave her that name after someone he respects.

    [Ep.9 Tidbits and Clarifications]
    - It was removed from the last episode but you learn that the springs that Urahara created are based on Tenjiros (Like the Spring we saw when Yoruichi revealed her human form that Ichigo was recovering in)
-Unohana being a Kenpachi was heavily foreshadowed throughout the entire series, it's the reason why squad 11 members were so afraid of her, It's why Aizen knew she'd catch on to his lie, and why even Captains like Shunsui and Ukitake feared her. (Another cool bit is that Aizen tried to seal Unohana and Kenpachi in Hueco Mundo to avoid them until he was immortal)
-This is our 1st time hearing Unohana's real first name, which is Yachiru, the same name Kenpachi gave to his Lieutenant when he found her. If you go back to that scene, Kenpachi said it's the name of someone he admired. Unohana's fake name was even a Hint "Retsu" means Violent in Japanese
-Buff Kon was another comedy bit removed from the last episode, so it may feel a bit random here.
-Given Kirio's words before they left her Palace, we now know that every Squad 0 member has done something that hugely affects how the Soul Society operates. Kirio made Gikon or Artificial Souls, and she says Ouetsu Made Zanpaktou, it's cool to wonder what the others invented.
-It's cool to see the politics with Shunsui, it shows a stark difference between him and Yama. Yama simply upheld the law, as long as peace was the goal he honestly didn't care much...but Shunsui is a bit different, more experimental, and he's willing to do things that Yama would never do. In a flashback in the Soul Society arc, we are shown when Lieutenant Yachiru and Kenpachi first meet. Because neither of them had any names he decided what their names would be, he named her "Yachiru" explaining it as the name of the one person he respects and wants to be like, with her last name being Kusajishi because that was the district she was from, Yachiru from Kusajishi. Meanwhile, he decided to take the name Kenpachi as it's the name of the strongest most aggressive combat-oriented Shinigami Captain, and last name Zaraki because that's the district he came from, Kenpachi from Zaraki. Also, when Kenpachi became the Captain of Squad 11 he became the 11th Generation Kenpachi, Yachiru Retsu Unohana being the 1st Generation Kenpahi.

There are generally speaking 3 methods to become a Captain within the Gotei 13 (13 Court Guard Squads):
The Captain Proficiency Test: requiring the ability to perform Bankai, and at least 3 existing Captains are required to witness including the Head Captain/Captain-Commander
Personal Recommendation: being personally recommended by at least 6 Captains and approval from at least 3 of the remaining Captains
Finally, Trial by Combat: where you must defeat and, yes required to, kill an already existing Captain witnessed by at least 200 Shinigami of that Captain's Squad.
Trial by Combat is seen as the least refined of these 3 methods and is the rarest method to achieve Captain status. It is also looked down upon as barbaric and outdated. It's rare in other Squads but Squad 11 is set using this method exclusively. This is the reason why Kenpachi was able to become Captain despite not having a Bankai or even knowing the name of his Zanpakuto to achieve even a Shikai. Meaning each Squad 11 Captain has achieved the title Kenpachi by killing the previous Kenpachi, hence why no two Kenpachi exist at the same time. Unohana, the first generation Kenpachi, still being alive actually calls into question every other Kenpachi that served after her, including our current 11th generation Kenpachi. This is also why, when they fight one of them will have to die, as the survivor will be Kenpachi, and come out as the strongest.

    • @TalentedForeverOrg
      @TalentedForeverOrg  Год назад

Thanks for the clarification on the whole Kenpachi name thingy. Is it just because Unohana didn't claim to be one anymore or how does that happen... because she's been alive but only now chooses to fight Kenny. Does that mean she just claims to be a Kenpachi again so one has to die!? If any spoilers don't reply but if it's just never explained how she was kept alive throughout thousands of years feel free to explain. Because we wanna know, is it just for the sole reason of unlocking Kenny when the time comes, like now?

@@TalentedForeverOrg the true history of it is unknown so far to my understanding. However, tradition holds the Kenpachi title goes to the Captain of Squad 11, but it is passed through trial by combat from predecessor to successor in which the predecessor is beaten and killed by their successor. The idea behind it being that the Kenpachi will always become stronger with each generation. Unohana, however, being still alive, but also no longer being Captain of Squad 11, means whoever succeeded her never actually earned the title Kenpachi in spirit, but officially earned it by being Captain of Squad 11. So, in spirit she never lost the title but she no longer truly holds it. So, I guess officially our Kenpachi is officially 11th Generation, but in spirit, by the end of this, he will truly inherit the spirit of the Kenpachi title. This is my understanding of it anyway.

Yeah, a broken Zanpakuto can not be properly repaired, when broken it can be put back to look normal again, but it won't be the same. Mayuri modifies his Bankai in the event it breaks, changing it, being a living creature allows him to do so. However, there are actually 2 exceptions to this rule of broken Bankai: Toshiro's Daiguren Hyorinmaru and Komamura's Kokujo Tengen Myo'o. Kokujo Tengen Myo'o is linked to Komamura's own body so when one is damaged/injured the other one is as well conversely this means that if Komamura heals or is healed his Bankai will as well. Daiguren Hyorinmaru on the other hand is composed of ice/water, so when it's broken in any way he just has to gather more moisture in the air and freeze it to repair the breaks, with his Zanpakuto itself remaining unchanged and therefore not being a part of the Bankai's release or Bankai itself so even when that's broken would be repaired as a normal Zanpakuto.

    • @TalentedForeverOrg
      @TalentedForeverOrg  Год назад

Well it's funny how those two exceptions were stolen by the Quincies lol. But that's pretty cool in the fact that they will change Bankai's. They have to forge a new/different one from their originals!

    [Ep.8 Tidbits and Clarifications]
    - In chapter 511 when Yhwach is retreating he states that its to prepare for 0 Squad showing up. (wasn't in the anime)
    - Tite Kubo (Creator of Bleach) received tons of death threats for the supposed killing of Byakuya, some believe it played a part in the decision to keep him alive (Though it's not a proven fact)
    - There is more information on Broken Bankai from the Manga and they put it on the mid-episode screen card, however, it's never translated.
    - Kirio Hikifune was mentioned in the flashback arc known as "Turn Back the Pendulum" (The mini-arc where we learned how the Vizards came to be). In that arc is were we first heard of the 0 Squad, Kirio is Hiyori's captain that got promoted and replaced with Urahara.
    - Here in the anime when Kukaku says "uncle" they make it very clear that said uncle is Isshin Kurosaki, This was hinted at by the physical similarities of Kaien, and Ganju. The Shiba Family (Which many forget) is a noble Shinigami family, and nobles tend to have more Spiritual pressure than normal shinigami, this adds to why Ichigo is stronger than normal because he's of Noble lineage, a Quincy, and Hollow.
    - Grimmjow never died, Ichigo saved him from Nnoitra before he could land a killing blow.
    - Ginjo, Tsukishima, and Giriko died, so their souls went to the Soul Society which is why they are here now. (Many forget that they were just humans)

Squad Zero has appeared, as introduced:
"Grain King" Kirio Hikifune, was the Captain of Squad 12 before Urahara, she was mentioned in the Turn Back the Pendulum mini-arc, where she was promoted to Squad Zero, and also that Hiyori was her Lieutenant and acted as a sort of Mother figure for her. Her contribution to the Soul Society is Artificial Souls, these include the Soul Candies like Rukia's Chappie and also Mod Souls like Kon. Essentially the principle is about the injection of Spirit Energy through edibles, so her cooking works the same. This is the basis behind her Grain King title.
"Hot Spring Demon" Tenjiro Kirinji, his contribution to the Soul Society was his Healing Hot Springs, we actually saw one during the Soul Society arc when Ichigo was training for Bankai. So far, it seems he was, maybe currently is, the fastest Hoho Master in Soul Society, and implied to have been Captain of Squad 4 before promotion and taught Unohana everything she knows about healing
"Osho" (Kyoraku called him by this nickname, meaning something along the lines of "High Priest" or "Monk"), information yet unrevealed
The girl with arms, yet properly introduced, information yet revealed, interaction with Mayuri suggests that they maybe served in the same Squad before. Mayuri was shown in the Maggot's Nest before Urahara pulled him out, the Maggot's Nest being where dangerous Soul Reaper's are taken. So it's entirely possible he served in her Squad with her as Captain, before either she was promoted or he was placed in the Maggot's Nest, whichever came first.
Oetsu Nimaiya, yet to be fully introduced. His contribution to Soul Society being the Zanpakuto themselves, one of the biggest contributions so far introduced.

Fullbringers are humans, when a human dies there soul lingers and can then be guided to the Soul Society. Fullbringers may have special powers that make them separate from ordinary humans but they are, at their basic level, humans. When they died they, at some point, were guided to the Soul Society. With Ginjo, Ichigo asked for his physical human body to be buried in the world of the living, rather than taken by the Soul Society.

These chapters have an impressive amount of information. Things they cut that seem a bit relevant to me:
Mayuri gives ichigo examples of broken bankais. Ikkaku's is no longer as powerful as before because was broken in his fight against the arrancar. Renji's when he fought byakuya broke and is still broken in a certain part. But there are exceptions like Komamura's bankai because they are linked, and if his bankai takes damage he does too. And toshiro's because he can regenerate as long as he has water in the atmosphere as he said in his fight against harribel. They also cut scenes of kon which basically shows us that he can transform into that muscular bear. Kon has been in squad 12 for quite some time and they have used him as a guinea pig so he is modified.
And another thing, tenjiro the member of squad zero from the hot spring, tells ichigo that the healing hot springs that were in the hideout of urahara and yoruichi (remember when yoruichi was training ichigo to achieve bankai) are inspired by that place ! Which hints that urahara was at some point in the royal palace.

Tsukishima and Giriko got killed, so they moved on to the Soul Society. The only exception to that was supposed to be Ginjō.

The Unohana reveal has been hinted at since VERY early on in the series.
    1. Everyone, even Captains as powerful as Shunsui and Ukitake are shown to be afraid of her (though this often played off for comedic relief).
    2. Her fake name, Retsu, means "violent" or fierce", hinting at her true nature.
    3. In the SS arc, she is the first Captain to notice something is off about Aizen's death (even while under complete hypnosis). When she arrives in the Underground Meeting assembly area after Aizen waxes Hitsugaya, he acknowledges that he thought she would be showing up soon.
    4. If you recall Kenpachi's backstory flashback from the SS arc, he tells Yachiru that he named her after the one person he admires and respects. The First Kenpachi, Unohana Yachiru is that person.
    5. Even from the first databooks, her total combat ability score was 540/600, which is second only to Aizen and Yamamoto who both have a total of 560/600. Her special ability was also listed as kenjutsu, NOT healing.

Great reaction guys. Been waiting. For me, episode 8 was a bit too fast paced just like episode 4 and they cut some stuff from the manga (Kon comedic moments and explanation of other Bankai that have been broken before). And episode 9 was awesome.
Byakuya not dying was a pretty bad fake out death ngl.
Also about Kirinji, the hot springs he uses are pretty similar to what Urahara and Yoruichi used in Soul Society arc. Hmm
And he did use flash step against Soi Fon. We know the naming conventions from that one episode where Aizen explains his plan. That Soul reapers use 4 fighting methods:
    1) Kido
    2) Hohou - the movement technique they use aka flash step and stuff
    3) Hakuda - martial arts
    4) Zanjutsu - Art of sword
About Unohana, I may comment in next episode after we see more of this fight. But yeah she was the 1st Kenpachi and our Zaraki is the 11th Kenpachi (after he killed the 10th kenpachi). Apparently there should be only 1 kenpachi per generation. We did see vague hits as there were many people scared of her especially squad 11th people. And yes you are right. Zaraki did name the pink haired girl "yachiru" cause that was the name of the person he admired the most. Even Zaraki is not a real name. Zaraki is the name of the 80th district of Rukongai where he is from

[Thought on the Kenpachi crying bit]
-What's really cool about the characterization is that while on the front it may seem like "Kenpachi is crying cause he just wants to win". It's slightly deeper, the important part is the context he spoke before that, you can assume he went about feeling empty, feeling nothing until he meet Unohana, He admires her because she's the only person to ever make him feel something, to feel alive, to have a purpose. This plays into his overall character, so when he's pestering Ichigo for a fight it's cause he's yearning to feel alive, fighting just happens to be the only vice that he's been conditioned to get that from, it's sorta like an addiction...Other Manga/Anime do the Love of Fighting Trope, but few make it as deep and complex as Kubo does here.

It's very divisive, the survival of Byakuya, a lot of people argue that Kubo should have killed off Byakuya. In the original manga story, he also survives, and some people were hoping he would change it in the anime. The arguments for his death being a perfect end to his character make sense, and some arguments say it lessens his scene with Ichigo in the prior episode too. I would argue against the latter, because in the moment the crisis wasn't lessened any just because he was saved from death. Because his defeat, the devastation of the Soul Society, his shame, and so on remain whether he died or lived. I personally, would have been fine if he died, because I understand the arguments about it being a good end to his character, but I don't really see any problems with him surviving either.
