At a concert in Adelaide AU he stopped midway through a song and told the audience he had a funny thought "A dyslexic devil worshipper sold his soul to Santa", and just picked up and continued where they left off.
I love how he wants to be funny and silly but he's so generally anxious that he always just ditches and goes back to being straight faced. It's hard to articulate but as someone with a similar disposition its very easy to notice.
Yes i think so too. People might label as thats just how he chooses to present himself, but honestly it just comes down to being awkward. But its very refreshing to see that from someone who is supposed to be a cocky rockstar
same here. Im the same way, I wasthinking this as well. I really appreciate artists that you can relate to. Makes the music so much more meaningful, cause you can relate in a way to what they are saying. and see yourself in the music
Oh he is fake and possessed. He doesn't even believe any of it is real himself and he knows non of it is his. He tells you that in his lyrics. And he is all about impressing people. It's why he sold his soul. Watch and listen. You don't even need to read between the lines.
💀 One of the things I love the most about Robert Smith is how much of a hilarious smartass he's always been in interviews. This is an excellent compilation, thanks for making it.
Robert is absolutely beautiful. And I often just smile watching interview with him. Love his dry sense of humour, body language and good energy. But, Robert, people who cannot swim not necessarily will swim when you throw them into water. My acquaintance told me how she went to bottom of river like a stone, when her friends threw her on depth. They jumped to save her then.
When I was a kid listening to Depeche Mode in the living room, my mom asked me why do I like this music, it's so depressing? I didn't understand the question.
I friggin love this man!! He's funny, smart and hell of a talent. We're around the same age so it's been a fun ride following his career since the 80's. Love me some Cure. 🌚
@@EekDaFreek Some of their music may be described as "depressing" by people...i prefer the words moody, introspective, serious maybe? lol... But most of their music is uplifting I reckon. Pictures of You, Friday, High, etc etc,..Some are flippant - Love Cats. Mint, etc I've come to absolutely love & appreciate The Cure better this past 10 years because of my brother. Cheers
@@MaryMartinish I agree. Depressing is the last term I'd use to describe them. For me , their albums have become almost like a shamanic journey the are so introspective..
Ha haaa. He's so sweet and so timid and so real. His music is timeless and also served as my safety blanket through the four-year-long trauma otherwise known as high school. Much love to you, Mr. Smith. Thank you for being you. :)
great collage. When a lot of these interviews came out I didnt have a chance to see these. After all these years listening to their music this is nice to see.
you probably get sick of having to talk to the interviewers, i applaud and appreciate him for always making it funny or spitting something random to keep it going and just showing his intelligent awkward hilarious lovable personality. i feel like he's so real
Robert Smith is my hero, idol... a personality I can relate to. What Tim Pope has summed in the description mentioned here is exactly what Robert Smith and the band The Cure is all about. May God bless the band with the best of health and everlasting happiness.
Robert is amazing, but the ‘everybody can swim’ claim isn’t true. I did what he said when I was 8 years old and nearly passed out and drowned. I was rescued and told off very harshly by a racist swim pool guard who probably would’ve left me to drown if other witnesses weren’t around.
En mi humilde opinión ... Musico y artista vanguardista fuera de serie y con un talento influenciado por el resto de la historia.... Sincero Emocional y muy muy talentoso...
How the fuck did Robert make it through the interview with the Greek presenter at around 7:00 to 8:00. It would have been excruciating. But he somehow nailed it. I think Robert likes a drink, and it helps.
He seems like he is autistic based on his use of words, quirks, social awkwardness, etc.....I have autism, I love the Cure and I SWEAR he has Aspbergers. So - he is a genius!
I agree, his responses were so funny and quirky that they went right over the interviewer’s head!🙄 She couldn’t even try to translate what Robert said and made some irrelevant summation.
@@SuzzCC I think that was the point, to make joke of the Spanish interviewer, who has a set of questions she has to ask but clearly doesn't understand English, so Robert's answers are willingly completely random

THAT IS PURE COMEDIC GENIUS
@Lima Charlie FAITH: the funniest comedic album of all time.

Holy shit I know exactly what you mean, that's just like me.
But he is funny and silly. He’s just around idiots in these clips who don’t respond appropriately and it all becomes awkward.
He is shy, but has a wicked sense of fun,, it's there in his eyes.

@@djscott9207 it really isn't based. You get what you see with Robert. He is just a normal guy with a ridiculous talent.
Total BS. People who "don't want to impress people" don't make careers of being rock musicians.
I don't care what anyone says, Robert is such an adorable man. I love his witty sense of humor mixed with his sweet demeanor.
"By the sounds of it, No" - This guy could be a comedian if he wasn't a singer. 🤣
“Are you as excited as me?”
“By the sound of it, no”.
That clip always makes laugh out loud.
That’s one of my faves. 😂
Haha Robert is such a funny guy. The interviewers are trying to portray him as a serious person and he's just taking the piss constantly.
Oh man he’s the most adorable freak out there
Dude looks like my mom after she takes ambien.
The cutest and crazy mad leader of The CURE. A smoothie and acid artist. Love him since I was a teenager. The older he grows, the better he is

Michael Jackson .💜🙌🙏

Neither Prince, not Michael Jackson, hold a candle to the talent or personality of Robert Smith!
Kurt Cobain and John Frusciante as well

The exact kind of statement that would make him pull a funny face.

The episode in South Park where he fights Barbra Streisand as a lullaby is an honest tribute to him!!
