The fact that Crutchfield provides the brackets and wires for free is reason enough to purchase from them only. You dont have to go lookin for the right bracket that fits. Crutchfield surprised me! They know how to do things right. Not a lot company's do it like Crutch. Everything is so rightttttttt.

I'm strongly considering these for my Tacoma. I'm not a bass head or anything, mainly rock and country. Problem with the stock speakers is that they distort, especially the vocals, at reasonably high volumes. I think the factory stereo should have more than enough juice to power these...

I bought some Kicker 47KSC6704 and Kicker 47KSS6904 speakers for my pickup truck less than 4 years ago. The foam surround has dry rotted and cracked. Its gotten stiff and now the cone is flapping in the breeze. The vehicle is not in a hot climate and does not leak so they never got wet. They just hardened and cracked. Never ever saw such crap before. Kicker told me they never saw a speaker surround dry out in 4 years but they have a 1 year warranty so i am out of luck. Really for spending almost 400 dollars and i'm out of luck because you only warranty them for a year. Well you must know they are garbage then.

Lots of overlap with the CS series... So why this DS vs CS? Using some 3.5 DS3504 in my cx-5 dash with 600Hz 1st order crossover and so far so good; better front stage than with just a tweeter in the dash.

I've had these recommended to me by an ICE company and I'm checking out the reviews. Now I'm confused. Some say they're great and some say they're crap. There is no middle ground. No one is saying "They're Ok, not fantastic but not crap either" So why the extremes with the reviews ?

@@andrez3247 - I have a set of Kickers in my car now. I reckon I know why there are some reviews that say they are crap. I believe it's because the customer has a buzz, rattle or vibration in the door and when you whack up the bass, it sounds like the speaker cant handle it.
I had this and after repeatedly taking the door apart and filling it with sound deadening material and wrapping everything up that sounded remotely loose, tinny, rattly or possibly suspect, I now have a sound system that I am very happy with. They handle the low frequencies just fine, at good volume too.
But on first firing them up, they sounded as bad as the old ones.
Couldnt buy from Crutchfield as I live in the UK and the shipping cost and import tax would have made it too expensive.
      Cheers...

It does look like you will need to use a bracket when installing a 6.5" or a 6.75" speaker in your front door, but the rear doors do not look to require the use of a bracket.
