- Here is an episode of Hollywood Squares from the second syndicated season in 1972. This week's stars are Glenn Ford, Marty Allen, Wally Cox, Gail Fisher, Vincent Price, Connie Stevens, Mel Brooks, Suzanne Pleshette, and of course, Paul Lynde alongside Master Peter Marshall.
It's crazy looking at the dates of these shows and realizing I was only 11 years old back then, I'm turning 63 in March, Yikes! Lol!
Yes.
Me too - same age. I always think it must be nice for the families of these contestants from 50+ years ago, to have quality video of grandma or grandpa in their prime.
What a phenomenal show…. I watched it every day.
The Straw man wanted the Tin man to notice him..lol. Paul Lynde is too funny
1:39 Always loved how fast Peter Marshall states the rules
He also was patient with the stars who sometimes dragged out their answers.
I was a Vincent Price lovah (lover) back in the 1970s, and The Hollywood Squares was my go-to favorite game show back then. I always liked to see him on that show and listen to his witty answers to the questions he was being asked.
UK fan here, just got quite addicted to this show and this is my favourite era. I didn't realise Charlie Weaver was the Arquette acting clan's grandfather. Very funny guy on here 😁
Wow!! Mel and Connie and Peter are the only ones left!!!
Just think of the power of this group in 1972. It's really incredible who was tapped to sit in one of the squares. Now when a show has stars on it, I have to Google to find out who must of them are.
Some of these stars may have wanted to be on. But I know what you mean. They are powerhouse talents.
Vincent Price and Paul Lynde = two legends. And so unique.
Thanks for posting these wonderful shows
They actually lived, how could they have been legends?
I usually just give a like and subscribe but I see that you have never been told THANK YOU! Let me be the one to tell you Thank you for all of the wonderful memories that flood into my brain. It makes me feel like a KID again. I watched these shows when I was a KID OF THE 70"s!! Saturday morning CARTOONS, WEEEE!!! Seriously though, MR PANNONI 8 I THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS! My best times in school where grades 5th-8th and you are NAILING the happy memories for MEH!!!! Love watching them at night while i'm chillin in bed! THANK YOU PANNONI 8! ROCK ON! ROCK ON!! ROCK ON!!
8:15 Supreme Irony: 50 years later, Elizabeth is still Queen of England.
Look at Peter Marshall kiss that pooch....❤..How could you not love that man
That beech was crazy on rock 😊
My favourite Paul Lynde line is.....What should you Yell!,.if a Woman falls overboard on a boat?..PL: Full!..speed Ahead...😂
Paul Lynde made makes me laugh got me out of my depression
God bless you! Jesus saves
Cute puppy with Peter Marshall...
With Marty gone now, only Connie Francis & Mel Brooks among the celebrities are still with us. Peter Marshall will be 92 next month.
I think you mean Connie Stevens.
You're right, sorry.
And Peter Marshall has made it to 92, I'm happy to say.
Mel Brooks full name is Melody. Did this news surprise you?

@@timothyball7502 I guess so. I never knew that. Then Zig Ziglar's given name was Hilary.
Suzanne Pleshette and Gail Fisher both on the same show. Both sexy and both have that 'husky' voice.
"Theater of Blood" was released April 5, 1973.
Wally Cox died on February 15, 1973.
My parents had one of those multipurpose 'Joe The Barman' blenders; they used it one whole time.
Paul lynde made me laugh so hard ! I need to laugh !
Don't we all! Paul Lynde was always my favorite Hollywood Square.
Patti you have the same name as Melody Brooks. July 29, 2021
Connie Stevens still looks the same today at age 81. Google "Connie Stevens 2019" and check it out.
Wally Cox was actually a very athletic guy, including bodybuilding.
What on earth is that little finger wiggle he does when he's introduced? A Mr Peepers reference, maybe?
Yes. He wore a wife beater when he appeared on Mission Impossible in the 60's. He was BUFF!
I will add that he had a decidedly unusual relationship with his best friend, Marlon Brando.
I always thought the finger wiggle was an Underdog reference.
I believe Wally Cox passes away shortly after this telecast in February of 73.
@@perripierre9295 He died unexpectedly at only 48 a few months later.
Watching The Hollywood Squares from 51 years ago the year I was born. Also the fall of 1972 was around the time that THE NEW PRICE IS RIGHT debuted on September 4 1972 with Bob Barker 12-12-1923-8-26-2023!! I was around 5 months old when THE PRICE IS RIGHT premiered and also when this nighttime episode of The Hollywood Squares aired!!Of course Bob Barker didn,t appear on Squares until 15 years later in 1987 during the John Davidson era!! THIS EPISODE OF 1972 HOLLYWOOD SQUARES IS A TRIBUTE TO BOTH BOB BARKER 12-12-1923-8-26-2023 THE 'MASTER'OF THE PRICE IS RIGHT & PETER MARSHALL THE 'MASTER'OF THE HOLLYWOOD SQUARES!!( PETER BY THE WAY IS NOW 97 YEARS OLD AS OF THIS PAST MARCH 2023!!)
Paul Lynde was referring to Raquel Welch movie, "Kansas City Bomber" released August 1972.
I remember a big deal was made about the fact that Raquel did most of her own stunts while filming the movie.
"church choir". Bwahaha....
Live puppy for a prize. Life was fun before PETA.
Unbelievable how people don’t know how to play. Don’t give them a piece of gum, they’d be lost in the woods
The Queen is still considering abdicating

So the queen was going to give up the crown in 1977? More then forty years later and she is still queen and Prince Charles looks very old.
I'm surprise that no one pick this up. The moment Peter mention Jackie's name a chair fell and sounded like a gun shot. 5.00
Yes! That was...eerie.
Seems to me that some of Mel's Robin Hood response was cut out.
I've always thought that GI stood for "general infantry".
Oh that sofa was hideous 😊
I want a new 73’ vega.
I had a 72 Vega. You don't want one...
But did you have it _in_ '72?
No you don't. You REALLY don't!😁
@@DmPmRr1959 How would you know we aren’t even close to 1973.
It's mixed on their reliability. I've seen former owners swear by them.
Vincent price was the king of horror
48 years later the Queen has not abdicated. A question I would have loved to seen posed. What car has Ralph Nader considered unsafe? The Vega (among others)
The Pinto
Genuine front page news: 95-year-old woman needs walking-stick to help her get around...
Corvair.
@@robynperdieu3434 We had a 62 Corvair. Total POS.
Either the show made a mistake about the Queen Elizabeth II question, or Buckingham Palace has been lying about the issue of abdication these last several decades.
Not the first time there were mistakes on this show.
Does anyone know what that long pause at 19:25 was about?
Charlie had not died yet, neither had Wally Cox.
Appeared something strange happened on Mel Brooks last turn.
WOW! $550 and a Chevy Vega, she can retire......for about a week
Mel brooks is funnier as he got older. As he aged, he got more funny looking.
I never have been able to figure out why they only ever had three women placed where they are. There should have been a woman where they have Marty Allen.
Canada Dry tasty soda with a dumb name. Open a bottle and it isn't Dry at all. Very wet soda that I enjoy as much as possible. July 29, 2021
Vega, not available for 2021.
I still think they were the cutest cars... reliability or not...
@@robynperdieu3434When did the Chevy ‘Nova’ come about?
didnt know true value sold tv's
If I had won that sofa and carpeting I would HAVE to donate it to charity cause they're butt fugly. Francis dodged a bullet by not winning that secret square
It was the seventies
