I was 10 years old then. I didnt realize what a gem this show was. But back then, there were so many great shows AND magazines AND people. A great time to be alive.
I remember Gene telling me a story that at the time The Hollywood Squares with Peter Marshall was so popular that the cafeteria at Beth.Steel would be so jam packed with all the guys watching The Hollywood Squares daytime version that Gene couldn,t even buy/eat lunch.
So sad that paul lynde died at such a young age compared to the rest of the stars. Yes, he had an alcohol problem, but dying at 55 after being so famous is saddening 😢 He was such a funny person 😢
Paul was The Funniest celebrity on that show; in actuality, his Doctor in Beverly Hills ( Dr. Packard) said that the autopsy on Paul showed that " Paul had the heart of an 89 year old man, mostly due to his chain smoking for many years". Paul Will Always be The Best Comedian & Celebrity on the Hollywood Squares".
I remember my late mother Lois Ann Routhier 10-28-1934-5-6-1984 telling me the day I was about to be born--April 12th 1972 before my father Phillip Anthony Routhier 9-17-1924-8-6-2001 took her to.the hospital in Santa Rosa California which was called Warrack Hospital at the ⌚ earlier that morning before Mom had me--she was actually watching The Hollywood Squares daytime version with Peter Marshall.I was born later in the afternoon at 4:20pm.We lived at 527 Millbrae Ave.Santa Rosa California.
Whenever I see the late Sonny Bono--he reminds so much of my late stepbrother Mr.Eugene B.Montz Jr.aka GENE 4-25-1939-3-25-1997. Gene could pass as Sonny Bono,s twin brother.Gene was a steelworker who worked at Old Bethlehem Steel Sparrows Point Plant Sparrows Point Md.for 26 years from 1969-1995 when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer until his death on March 25 1997 a month before his 58th birthday.
16:05 if age 25 back then, how long before it becomes age 15 😳 wish they gave a reference point... from a decade earlier or century or what not. Charo's response was hilarious, on par with what Paul Lynde might do 😁🤣
I Absolutely Loved this show & Always will, but i could Never stand it when jonathan winters was on it, he had the Worst habit of dragging out an answer to a question, just so he could act Silly!
He's being rushed by the stars constant malingering. He says a lot "Time is money" and he has to prod the stars to answer. He has a job to move the show along and get the contestants as much money and prizes as he can. I hope he won some kind of award for basically baby sitting sometimes. This is why we like Paul: he was quick with the comedy and could answer the question in good time.
Now I remember why I hate Joan Rivers; all she had to do was say "His secretary is a guy" and dead pan it. Over actor. How did this show get Glen Ford and Debbie Reynolds?
I appreciate the quality of the videos you've uploaded. Thanks so much!!!
Many thanks for uploading these hollywood squares episodes. Very much appreciated

Sad to realize that other than ol' Pete the emcee, Charo is the only star left still alive, and she is 70 as of 2021.
Now it's just Charo, with Peter's passing

Hollywood squares actually destroyed the career in films he really wanted he felt typecast and died disgruntled.
I finally also remember my late stepmom Marie F.Routhier 6-14-1913-3-24-2001 telling me that the original Squares was her favorite morning game show.

HELLO DERE!
Paul Lynn was the funniest.
This was fun to watch
As always my favorite star is George Gobel.
🫡☮️🤍
Real nostalgia fest. Loads of fun.
The Hyatt at the Vancouver Airport is now a Radisson. Radisson Blu more specifically, whatever that means.
How come so many people in the comments spell Paul Lynde’s name wrong? You see it all through the show.

Nissan used to be Datsun. My mom had a datsun.
Recorded February 1975
RIP!! PETER MARSHALL(1926-2024) THE MASTER OF THE HOLLYWOOD SQUARES!!
@0:13, I think that was TIM CONWAY at 1st

I agree, but you must understand J. Winters was schizophrenic, so he was doing what came naturally. 🤨
PM let Jonathan prattle on, but always pushed Wally Cox to hurry.
Great prize: a stay in a Canadian airport hotel. The loser should get that.
. . . .. .Sonny Bono 🌟🌹🦊💪🤳...😳😄🙂😎❤️❤️❤️👍👍🙏🕯️🌹. ..🙁☁️🌈
Does Peter Marshall drink? He flubs the clues consistently.

@@bobdoubter2977True! And Jonathan Winters was the WORST on that show for dragging out an answer so he could act Silly.
