Great video! I also have a Pro-106 Radio Shack scanner purchased it used like 6 years ago for $150 off of a guy in Kentucky. I didn't know how to use it the old scanners I own have crystals. So we have a Monix group here in Cincinnati and one of the group guys made a copy of what he has on his scanner to my scanner as we both live on the east side of town. I love my scanner use it nearly every day now since I'm retired and I also like to railfan so I can listen to rail traffic on my scanner. So I gather it is best not to save anything unless I want to put in a new freq. Otherwise when I hit scan it will always go back to the frequencies that are set in the scanner? I have every talk channel car to car fire police detectives it is awesome and here in Cincinnati we always have something going on. I may fire over a few questions now and then.
Nice video, I am thinking of getting a whistler ws1040 but prices now are crazy. I am a Radio Shack nerd and I did not know this was the same as the whistler. Now I might try and wait and see if I can find a used Radio Shack one.

Hi I just got the WS1040. When i use the programming cable i get where it shows I loaded the channels I wish to have, however I don't seem to be able to get the channels to work. I am using the radio reference info through the Win500 software. Is there a better way to program this for a VIPER system in NC?
I keep getting an error message that says, "Heap error 25FB25 : 2602" I cant press any button without gettin that error message. Any thoughts on how to correct this issue without a total reset?
it's only hard when you don't know...when you know how to program, it's easy...i made countless mistakes, until today i mastered this scanner...not much police activity in toronto as they are encrypted, so just listening to airband and marine lol

i put some feq in my scanner its same one u have it only holds about 30 feq wil it scan trew them it got to do more .then just that

i keep getting frequencies going on list 1 when i know im making sure it says list 3 with the * but keeps sneaking into list 1?
how do I program to monitor and see if incoming signals are narrow band or wide band??

Yup, go to www.radioreference.com and enter in the details of your area and it should give you frequencies; I only have my area frequencies memorized.

Yup, just hit the WX button and it'll bring up the NOAA frequencies in your area and use the arrow keys to select the channel you want

The yellow recharbale is known to fry the scanner. I never use mine for that reason.
