How Coronavirus Has Hurt This NYC Food Truck
So many industries have been absolutely devastated by this. I am sorry the food truck business didn’t work out. Wishing you the best in future endeavors.
You can tell he's exhausted from the stress of it all. I'm also hoping this is all over by the end of this year, but who knows... stay strong, everyone. :(
The stress will give people PTSD very soon if not already.
this will end, when the dollar will be equal to the Baht or the Peso.
Boy do I got news for you
Still that one year has not been seen
So sad to see the hardship Covid-19 has caused amongst young entrepreneurs.
Hopefully things should start opening up soon.
Wishing you all the best guys
🙏🙏🙏
I live in Astoria... When the city reopens I'll be one of the first customers in your restaurant My husband loves dumplings! So we are excited to try this food.
This story is so sad ! I remember seeing their foodtuck story on RUclips a year ago, when their were successful. I live in Queens and work in midtown East. (52 n 3rd ) I always wanted to try yumplings
This is incredibly sad. I hope there is something to help these people...
Good luck my Taiwanese brother 🇹🇼!! A new day will come.
Sad. I went and ate at a Korean restaurant yesterday and they were so
Happy to have customers. The food was amazing. Wish these guys all the best.
G for take out for Christ's sake.
Yes i stopped by a Mediterranean restaurant I live by to support my local restaurants and it was empty
sanjay sebastian. Take out was the only option. You had to place your order inside though.
Maybe they will finally lower the price and appreciate non Asian customers
kim Who says that they don’t?
It's easy for people to tell everyone to stay home, when those people are still receiving a paycheck.
It's called unemployment. I'm making more money staying home.
S'all good-man
It should be easy for anyone to tell others to stay home because the only other option is to go out and get infected and possibly DIE.
I wish I could get unemployment
@@mg6192 lol your rhetoric is so bad that I can't stop laughing. So if u go out u're going to get infected? Are u joking?
My mother started a business in January. the company that she previously worked for got bought out and her new boss fired her on new years eve. She was actually profitable within the first two weeks of opening her hair salon. She needed to make 1800 to pay rent and for and take at least 2000 a month in salary. She was making 1500 dollars a week from day 1 and she was making a good amount of money in the first two months. But this is in new york and her salon is now closed by law. She still is required to pay rent but she prepaid the first 3 months and by the time she applied for a small business grant it was all out. She managed to get 1000 loan but as long as her landlord allows her to not pay rent for the next few months she will be okay. But this really sucks since this was the most successful business she launched in a short amount of time. She was the only employee but was planning to hire more people in the summer. Her last week before getting closed down she made 3000. Which for a hairstylist is a lot of money. Hopefully, her business is able to open up by July. I think we may go full bankrupt if the entire summer we are left without an income.
The problem is some restrictions will have to exist till a vaccine is available which could be in excess of 18 months. Hopefully the restrictions could be relaxed enough for the business to survive but even with assistance, that isn't a given.
John Wang the restrictions don’t have to exist, the government and media are lying to us, don’t support tyranny and learn to question authority, the world would be much better off if people did not blindly obey our extremely corrupt government. Why do you assume a vaccine is the ultimate answer? Where is the science to back up this claim?
Shane Viola Is it possible to service your customers by visiting their home during this pandemic? Wish your family all the best and hope we would get through these things.
I live in Tallahassee, FL and we have only one Korean restaurant throughout the entire city. I try to go once a week just to support them, and it makes me nervous for all the future Asian restaurants in my college town. Wishing all the best and stay safe.
You have such a beautiful heart. God bless you, best wishes from india
LAUREN TRUONG There’s a korean restaurant now? I lived there from 1999-2005 and then moved to Atlanta. We got a lot of Korean options here.
I'm from Tallahassee too! are you taliing about the awesome Korean BBQ restaurant that is right around TCC? i think they have a small Korean grocery store next to it too
ADAPT! More people are cooking at home. If your dumplings are as goo as you say they are sell that! Frozen. Frozen dumplings are easy to ship and send by couriers through the city. You can also sell them online. Try it. You may find that this works for your business.
Guys dont give up! I have walked past your store front multiple times and waiting for it open. As soon as the current covid situation is over, I can guarantee you a lot of food lovers are going to visit your store. Definitely need you guys in LIC!!! Till then stay safe.
Be strong bro! Things will get better!
I LOVE THIS STORY.. MORE OF SUCH EXACT STORIES PLEASE..
Poor choice of words. I get your point, but you come off as sounding rather insensitive, considering the depressing subject matter.
Hang in there fellas. Hoping these cats and thousands of others like them make it out alive. City life just wouldn't be the same without these awesome food truck services.
man how lit would it be if he was allowed to drive around neighborhoods and sling food to people right on their block. like an ice cream truck haha
i feel sad when i hear him speak. you can feel his sadness.
john doe Taiwanese does not equal to Chinese, If he’s a Taiwanese American I doubt if he’ll give up his democratic values and go work in a communist country....
@john doe Because he's Asian right? Why don't you try going to the uk or germany and start a food truck business there. See how that goes for you.
@@woonha4481 It's not even about that. John was just trying to subtly racist. Ignore him.
Besides, if the owner did move to China, he could probably make more money there than he would in the US. China today isn't like China in the 70s. It's super-capitalistic.
I'm in Queens, and I'll bring the squad when you guys open up the spot in LIC. Keep your head up man!
I’m in the NYC area and I will be waiting for you guys to open back up!!
I'm sure they will tide over this problem.
I sincerely appreciate his candor and vulnerability. This is the unglamorous side of entrepreneurship. This is the uninstagramable, unfiltered version of launching a business venture.
THAT'S SO SAD! I HOPE THEY STILL GET TO OPEN THEIR RESTAURANT!
This makes me so sad, I hope you guys battle through this and flourish when we open back up.
You can see various local restaurants drop out of the various delivery apps or have shorter and shorter hours. It's clear that delivery simply isn't enough to keep many restaurants alive. If you do order, don't use the app, call the restaurant directly, the apps charge the restaurants 20 to 30% as well as charge the consumer for delivery, this means the restaurant barely breaks even if at all and the delivery apps is really just advertising space.
I hope you all make it. I’ll be one of the first in line when you can finally open!❤️
Ah man I remember these guys from a past video
Pssssh I'd still be right at an Asian restaurant. Delicious food
Really sorry to hear... My cousin owns a restaurant in Washinton. Because of the lockdown he started offering delivery and carryout.
God bless you and let’s be positive that things will get better
Miss their foods, his truck is around my office. Sadly to see his business suffer. Stay strong my friend. We are almost at end of the tunnel.
Have you considered possibly getting involved with the New York city emergency get food program they have a delivery service for all 5 boroughs and I don't know what the pay is for that but I do know that restaurants do get paid and catering services and they just started a a pan Asian section. meaning various types of food from different parts of Asia so you might want to think about that maybe to give a little helping boost . 👍💜
i would like to try their foods?
it just dumplings?
how expensive is the dish?
bowls were really yummy. Quite reasonably priced based on the New York City standard.
Stay at home and cook urself.
Each dumping is $2.00 but the a specialty call con dơi
Their food looks sooo good too.
I have seen this restaurant on Vernon Blvd. Looking forward to visiting when it opens!
He mentions he couldn't get a permit for gas. As a small business owner I know exactly the feeling. The Department of Building and land marks delayed my opening by 3 years!!! The government does not work for it's people. It wants you to fail so large corporations can monopolize the system. Large corporations can navigate the system and they receive immediate response from government including tax incentives for building. It's a disgusting world.
This reminds of a new local hot pot restaurant that opened in February after almost a year to get things set up and running. Now that restaurant has been closed for many weeks and who knows how they'll ever recover. Pretty sad.
😤so frustrating! Keep hope alive!
Why didn’t he and the staff keep the food and take it home. ?
they usually make 1800 dumplings a day. They probably don't have enough space to even store half of that at home.
The restaurant business isn't like you making spaghetti for the week, bud.
Hang in there guys. I wish you well. 🙏
How is this guys doing right now? Hope they are well , love the food
Hope they didn't took out loans for the restaurant
Can anyone near that place have update on these guys? they still have the restaurant or not?
I am sorry to hear this. Your food looks delicious. I think as long as you make delicious food, one day and hopefully soon, you will turn a profit. People love dumplings! Do you make veggie dumplings?
Looks like delicious food. 😊😊
I feel ya brotha. I feel ya.
Blessings 🙏🙏🙏
Any updates on these folks.
Every body in the restaurants business is suffering bro including me
Sorry to hear that! But he literally said that in the video. Good luck to you.
YOU CAN TELL HE'S EXHAUSTED FROM ALL OF IT!
We just had started our truck up last year, and have lost everything because of covid. We had to sell our truck to cover expenses from 2020.
The truly interesting thing here is that Taiwan is on top of this crisis and are one of the few countries to have Covid-19 under control from the get-go. They tried to warn everyone else (the WHO included), but few others wanted to listen. The Czech Republic was one of those who did and they also have it under control.
But not that many Americans will know how to tell the difference between Taiwanese Chinese and PRC Chinese, nor would they care to differentiate. If its Chinese, they would boycott cos we apparently all eat bats or something.
Lesson to be learned here. The world should pay more attention to Taiwan the next time it has something to say about what is going on in China. They also deserve a place in the WHO. Not that it would have made much difference to the US, cos Trump was warned by his own intel as early as January yet he did nothing. Than he scores himself 10/10 for his response to this crisis. How thick skinned is he?
Can you do delivery? It seems like you might be able to setup somewhere and start delivering food. That should be your part time job. Different menu with supply shortage. Make it fun! People will enjoy it.
God bless NYC
I own restaurant and i went almost bangkrupt :(
When I start traveling, I pray this food truck/restaurant will still be there. I have NEVER tried Taiwanese food 😭 I grew up poor, currently am poor, and as a college student I want to get my degree and experience all kinds of things I never have
Why not just keep the food truck, forget the restaurant and just do deliveries?
It is a shame that all that good food go to waste when there are hungry people.
I used to eat out once a week, but these days, I get Chinese takeouts three times a week to support these businesses
There are more than 3 trucks, why just yumpling got long queuing & how about the other food trucks?
Your Governor is to blame for business shutdown.
How about delivery? 🤷🏻♀️
There are delivery apps to jump on right now. I say to sell through them & go from there.
I Love this one
I feel sorry for the Small business vendors
But state will open up in the next month. Hang in there.
Entrepreneurs will find a way. Many will fall but those who survive will flourish in the new economy after covid-19
I feel so bad 😢
The narrator for this video sounds like she has a cold, or a sore throat.
TheBigExclusive Covid-19
Nice Video
Instead of just going to one eatery and say buy $20-$30 worth of food I have been going to different eateries buying 1 smaller item from each place to support more places.
Corona won’t scare me away from any Asian!!!
Sad. But you're young and resilient so hoping all will go well in the future.
I love Yumpling SO much...when this is all over, I'm gonna be the first one there.
Business, job or Life? Let's debate
1:41
Struggling and drowning business, ended up throwing out alot of food. Sale by costs or earn a cents. Seek friend expert financial account and business advisor. From Asia
Crazy cause i would hit this truck after school all the time :(
Did you order the con dơi dumplings
Don't promote non veg food please be and vegan protect the animals lifes
You said it ,look for a part time job, meanwhile. Reality bro, you have to.
Coved is sooo wack. I’m so sorry for them
Taiwan isn't china
Hopefully covid takes all the panic buying hoarders out
Do they have a donation page? I would subscribe for a monthly donation. And if they don't want to accept "free money", they can promise a Yumpling-themed souvenir for every $10 in donations. I would love to donate a little bit of money and get a dumpling key chain.
We love you. Trump and his followers are only looking at the world through smoke screen broken 👓 Glasses
These guys again, lol
jkjn

So sorry this happened to your business. When everything opens back up, I wish you prosperity and nothing but the best for your business.
Especially with the IGNORANCE surrounding the decline of purchasing “Asian” foods out.
I would totally eat there. Looks like good food.
Order the con dơi it's their specialty
This business should get the loans :(
Yes. Especially over the multi-million dollar publicly traded companies that jumped in for the first round. :(
First they need money to hire lobbyists
Really sad to see this.. I used to get lunch from yumplings even though there was always a long line.. I just moved out of NYC a month ago and really miss yumplings.. I hope you stay in business and I can get the dumplings next time I come back to NYC!!
So many lives were destroyed for no reason. All could have been prevented.
Mihad Alzayat If only the president didnt think it was a hoax early on
xXproplayer000Xx yeah Trump is another disaster. Fortunately we can get rid of him this November but we can’t get rid of the Chinese communist party.
Blame China
Mihad Alzayat you realize trump is going to be president for 4 more years? Biden is the democratic candidate lol
Mihad Alzayat
I agree that lives, businesses & the economy were destroyed for no good reason!! Look at this clip starting at the 2 minute mark

You’ll get through this buddy! Best wishes and support all the way from Malaysia ❤️
I love Yumpling’s taiwanese food. Really hope you guys are able to reopen again once this is over so we can support!
Wishing you the best!
Please re-open! I miss the yumpling food so much!
The have a new menu with con dơi dumplings
Recommend repackaging smaller Costco items n doing home grocery delivery . Or sell some of the Chinese food ingredients to elderly Chinese neighborhoods
This is so sad, we have to find a better way to deal with pandemics like this is the future.
You have a truck. Why don't you deliver the food directly to their doorstep??
