- JEEP OVERLAND ADVENTURE - ABANDONED RAILROAD LOGGING CAMP FOUND!!!
Join me for another Jeep Overland Car Camping adventure. On this adventure I travel out of the desert and up into the forest to an area that was logged by railroad over 100 years ago. I search for signs of the massive amount of railroad logging activity that went on around 1915. Come along with me as I navigate backcountry trails, set up my overland style camp, cook camp meals, and explore this amazing historic site.
Join me on Coyote Works for other videos of overland car camping and exploring the remote Oregon back country looking for lost history!
Hope you all enjoy!
Cheers,
Casey

i realy love how he also talks about the history of those places its also nice to see that he always leaves the places in the condition they have been before he came always takes his trash with him and all that...
Undaunted Courage! my favorite book.
Big fan of this channel. Nice to see an off-road channel focus on the adventure and not the newest gear.
Always brightens my day when I see a new Coyotee Works video. Looks like an awesome trip
Lots of history up there in those woods.
For sure!
Was beginning to think you had fallen victim to a toxic work environment or something. Good to see you out and about again. Thanks for taking us along your trip!
Hi Casey, this is one of your amazing videos. I enjoyed it so much. It is very interesting how people use to live and work back then. Take Care, Ben.
Glad to see you survived the wild fires.
I've been carrying a loadout bag recently. Same deal, tarps, poles, stakes, paracord, bungies. Also a set of lightweight rain gear.
Good to see you back out on the trail again Casey!
Thanks for the upload! Was beginning to miss ya!
LOVE your choice of reading material. My wife is the Chief of Interpretation @ Lewis & Clark National Historical Park (Ft. Clatsop).
I wish I could have met Stephen Ambrose. Great writer and historian. Love that book - “Undaunted Courage “.
I agree. Great book. Would have loved to meet him!
I love searching for old treasures.
Very interesting finds and great narration. Much thanks!
"Do you keep Prince Albert in a can???" "Let him out"
Real life ..."Hell on Wheels" ....great stuff!
I'm with you Casey, WOW!
Tents on platforms reminds of camps in Viet Nam in 1966.
Special 👍 for inserting these throwback pictures. Seems like no logging tools of value were left behind: two-man saw, iron wedge, cant hook, axe, hippe, whetstone, wirecable…
Undaunted Courage is one of my favorite books. Not sure how many times I’ve re-read it. That was a simply amazing adventure. Keep up the great videos!
I love your videos. Something just calming about them and your style. Appreciate all the new stuff you put out! Awesome sites you find!
Backup batteries are life savers! Thanks! Fun video!
For sure. Been carrying one for years and this was the first time I’ve ever needed it. But if I hadn’t had it I would have had a long walk!!
its good to see you back makin videos, you have been missed!! thanks for taking us along for the ride!! that was a very cool find there..its starting to get cool enough to enjoy being outdoors again!!!
Love all the history you bring out in your videos.
Was worried about you.... been looking for new vids for weeks!!!!!! Glad to see you are back and in good health!!!! Stay safe Casey!!!!
Hey Casey
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and bringing us along.
Another great video.
Will look forward to the next one.
Anyone who likes this content, read THE OREGON DESERT , e.r. jackman and reub long, such an excellent book, then go to fort Rock and the cemetery at its base where long is burried. Thank you Casey for sharing what relatively few people get to enjoy in the places not frequently trodden.
I really enjoy the camp setup walk around. I am constantly getting new ideas. Finding the old homesteads is great fun. I enjoy these videos.
Great history lesson! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
One of your best yet Sir! Any idea why the battery went flat?
Great show today! The time passed so fast that I was shocked that it was over. Your set-up is pretty close to the way I like to camp. That English breakfast looked great as did the ramen meal. Nice and simple, yet delicious. Thanks for the trip back in time and the old photos that gave life to your narrative. I always find it amazing when you find things that are a hundred years old just lying on top of the ground like it had been only a couple of years since they left the site.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. One of the things I love about the desert is how well it does preserve the remains of history. I love it that you can still find that stuff. Cheers 👍
Spot on with that brekkie being a South African thing👍🏻 I can also say it's no doubt a brit thing too having learned it from my British dad. Greetings from SA😉🤝🏻
Sounds like a UK commen wealth thing. Chers from Canada.
Thank you for sharing your adventure . Great times and great work . Like your style. Stay safe and healthy and happy trails.
Awesome, really enjoy your exploring old sites like this. Love the logging RxR's and their history.
I HIGHLY recommend the Mopar hardtop liner kit. I've had it in mine since I bought it new in '18 (JKRR). Never an issue. Helps with sound, temp, and such.
Thanks for bringing us long, always feels like we are there with yah.
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed!
What a wonderful bit of history! The metal, bottles and other trash makes one feel like you were there way back when. Such beauty we are lucky to have in Oregon. Thanks for taking me along.
Nice adventure, thank you for sharing your videos
Hey Casey.
Here in the uk, a full English breakfast consists of 2x bacon 2x sausages 2 fried eggs 2x hash browns bean and tomatoes, mushrooms, black pudding ,bread and butter and a good cup of Rosie Lee ( tea ).
Spot on.. Beans and fried tomatoes ,bangers “sausage “ and eggs with my Brit in-laws when we’re in the UK
For sure. It’s a pretty good breakfast combo! 👍
Glad to share the adventure sir. Thx
Thank you 🙏 that sure was enjoyable. I like the time you spent on the details of your camp set up. I've seen it before, but I like watching it again. I get new ideas and evaluate my own set up.
Those little Boost Jumper Starters are worth their weight in Gold! I have a Harbor Freight version that works surprisingly well.
Idling will not charge the battery from the alternator, you must have RPM's. The audio is an improvement, but it can still be amplified. Previously it went up and down from a whisper to a shout. Excellent content, very intriguing. Very good video, nothing sloppy and perfect length also. Always look forward to the works.
Thank you my friend! Cheers!
That’s false. Battery will charge at idle, just less amps.
@@maximusmock I was told "will not charge" = not sufficient at our auto store. I started my dead battery with the same device, turned it off and it started right up again. From the battery being charged by the jump or from the alternator?
@@ThoxSpuddy Get a voltmeter. Idle the vehicle. It should put out more than 13.0 volts. If it is it’s charging. Should be closer to 13.8-14.8. It won’t put out as many amps idling as going down the road.
Really enjoyed the video I love seeing the history of this state! So much of it is vanishing very quickly
Great video, missed your adventures for sure. I have a 2018 Jeep Recon myself, battery just blanked on me and it was only at 20k miles, bad battery cell, the dealer said. Thankfully it was parked in my garage, not 50 miles from the nearest human! Thanks again for your great work and inspiration.
I've had plenty of eggs, pinto's an chorizo for breakfast, it was good to me with biscuits an honey. Made my day when I went to U tube tonite an finished my weekend with your vid, thx for the vid Casey
Thanks my friend. Glad to hear that!
thanks 👍🍺🍺keep it on the dirt
Casey, keep up the great work. I know the video is a few months old; I highly recommend the Jackery 1000. I can charge everything without being dependent on my 4Runner battery.
Interesting area.
Very interesting place to explore. Christine says Certo is used for making jelly. It is the stuff which makes it gel. She also wonders how you like that instant coffee if you like half and half in your regular coffee. Lewis and Clark were the original overlanders.
Genesis Off-road dual battery system...easy to install...along with an upgraded alternator (250 amp)...no more power worries 😃
I might have to look in to that!
I’ve also got one of those Coleman stoves. It’s about 30 years old. Still works great. An army buddy of mine nicknamed it, Spacelab due to the pod-like legs on it😆. Great video as always.
...I bought mine in 1983...!!!
Nice video Casey. Good to see your out 👍
Awesome video 👍👍. Truly an amazing place. I could camp there for a couple of days just to explore. Have a great week.
Fantastic trip.
Nice to hear your dulcet tones back on the trail again.
I really like that single strap style bag you are carring in the video. It looks like it would be great fro short walk arounds or a day hike from base camp maybe. I really enjoyed the video thanks for making it.
It is a handy little bag for that. It’s some kind of military surplus bag. I think it might be like a gas mask bag.
Great video Casey! I no exactly where you are🤐😎My stomping grounds for 30 yrs. Awesome finds👍
Never boring! Thanks for sharing Casey! 👍👍
Absolutely love this video, you did an awesome job with explaining the history and makeup of these camps. Great work!!!
Good to see you posting!
Cool video man. It's good to see more of your adventures. You sure have an eye for finding stuff out there.
Good to see your latest adventure!
I love the nice lean kit .
Awesome video Casey. Nice to see you out on a nice long good adventure. I’ve missed these videos. Hope you’re doing well cheers my friend. ❤️💋
Great as usual. Makes my day when a new CW video drops.
Hope you remembered to recharge the jump starter while the engine was still running. I learned that in "the school of hard knocks"!
You are like the modern day Indiana Jones. Your videos are awesome! Keep up the great work!
Great as always, Casey!
So I'm English now living in East Oregon and you are right about the baked beans being an English thing but they were never my thing for breakfast. I like them cold with mashed potato and cold meat.
Thank you for the great educational video.
Amazing finds! I'm coveting all those fantastic old bottles and containers
Yep, beans with eggs definitely a British thing, but normally as part of a full English with bacon, sausage, maybe fried tomato and mushrooms. One of our few edible meals! :-)
Wow..This is sooo awesome. Interactive too! 2nd day if subscription and I'm already addicted 🙃!
That’s awesome my friend. Glad you are enjoying it. Welcome to the channel!
Lol I love how you come up on stuff and kick it!😄👍
Glad to see another cool video from ya. Also couldn't help but notice not one single bullet hole in any of the metal you showed. Pretty cool to think that that stuff hasn't been seen (or at least shot at) for all those years.
Slept like a baby. Does that mean you cried and pooped most the night????? LOL Love your videos!!!
That’s a good point…. Maybe I should stop saying that! Lol 😂
Lol, in my experience they nap like a rock in the day and cry and poop at night...
Been waiting on new content thnx for sharing with us
I have one of the bigger Noco chargers. A piece of essential gear if you are out solo. I think mine is the 2000 Amp model. Good for something like 40+ jumps with a full charge. Also power ports to power portable electronics. If you like to roll solo.... You have to plan for all of the contingencies.
Another great video Casey! Thank you for sharing your trip.
Perfect Aussie breakfast too mate👍🇭🇲
Thank you my friend. That’s a good breakfast! Not something we eat over here much but its a good combination. Cheers!
Best intro music!
Great video
Always enjoy your videos Casey, and glad you are back camping. Thanks!
nice to see you packin heat. have you ever had to pull your gun on anyone or wild animal while out on an excursion? i sure have and i'm so thankful i bring it! stay safe. so good to see another one of your vids bro.
Awesome video Casey absolutely loved it and good on you brother for our famous South African breakfast 👍👌✌🐾🐺
For sure my friend! It’s a good breakfast! One of my favorites 👍👍
Good thing you had the battery jumper! Great adventure. So many artifacts on this one. What do you think happened to the rails? Rusted away or salvaged? Love the old photos that show us how the camp would have looked long ago. I’ve watched so many other camping channels on RUclips. Casey, you have set the standard for sure! Nobody comes close.
Wow! That's enough food for 4 people!
Same breakfast when we were on safari in Botswana, I think it's a British colonial thing. The sausage was made from warthog and there was a South African sausage as well - boerewars, I think it was called. It was excellent. The Aussies we met while traveling took the full English breakfast to absurd heights. It was good though. Especially the warm pourable custard over the white cake.
I have read that book, a lot of very interesting history in that book
The british breakfast is sometimes called The Full Monty named after General Montgomery (General Patton's nemesis) who had a big fry up to start the day.
Nice! Thanks for passing that cool little piece of history on. Cheers 👍
Nice video Casey thanks for sharing.
The Noco jump packs are really nice.....have one myself.
Also, have an Autowit Supercap 2 batteryless jump pack that also works well.
You might want to pick up an inexpensive battery tester good tool to have.
Just picked up one that also test the charging system.
Certo is a fruit pectin used to make jelly and jams.
Bottle from the 1930's-1940's.
I work in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Always eggs, potatoes, rice, bacon or chopped up hot dogs and usually beans.
Great 👍 video, thanks 😊
Great video thank you!
The old digs of the logging camp reminds me of the movie:
the Ranger the Cook and A Whole In The Sky
I am so glad that you are back. I know work does come first so you can live, but so glad to see a video was up. Was a little worried that maybe you were sick or something. You look mighty healthy. This adventure was amazing. I couldn't believe all the finds that you found. The bottles especially. My Aunt when I was a little kid always found blue bottles and a few brown. All the discoveries that you found was amazing. Keep on exploring with your adventures and I will always be watching. God Bless and be safe.
Thank you my friend. So glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I was more than excited to find all that stuff! Cheers👍
Great 'History' stuff for History buffs.
Really enjoyed your video.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Love my apex pick. But I use it for more, yellow'ish rocks ;)
