Brilliant product that worked perfectly. However, the problems I had were with somebody who tried to repair it before. They tried to re-glue the vinyl onto the felt with silicone and got globs of it everywhere, I ended up taking both the vinyl and the felt underneath it off and went to the bare door panel, and siliconed the overlay onto that. It worked perfectly.

Just purchased these and was impressed with the finish. Everything looked great when I first put it up to the door for a test fit. However, after the cleaning steps and applying the glue and attempting to install…it wouldn’t lay completely flat against the door panel. It was hitting at the front, near the window control button and impeding the panel from laying against the bottom of the door. Any help would be appreciated

@@cgodinez5447 you won't regret it. Before I got these I tried re gluing the panels with 3m adhesive, I had taken them to 2 different automotive upholstery shops, good well rated ones, nothing worked.. this so far is the best looking, most permanent fix i found.. for context i live in Kansas, we get pretty extreme temperature & humidity fluctuations & extreme seasons, 110° days in the summer, -15° days in the winter, & especially with the heat none of the other fixes held up with my all black interior. The only thing i did with these other than what the instructions say is removed the panels from the doors for install, added permatex high temp rtv sealant as an additional adhesive & used weight and clamps overnight for a solid flush finish.. maybe that is overkill but they work great.. so glad i don't have to worry about the panels anymore & it will probably make mine a bit more desirable to buyers when i eventually decide to sell this car

Wish i knew about these sooner, I searched all over for different solutions for the door panel and never came across these.. randomly found them today as a related item to something completely unrelated i was looking at for the car on ebay.. I've waited forever to get mine into an upholstery shop after trying to fix the falling off factory piece with 3m super 90 adhesive which failed - it started falling off again after a few months, now I have no door panels while the upholstery shop is going to try to fix them with new foam & vinyl which will take who knows how long to get to, cost by his estimate about $80 per panel, and who knows how good it will look or how long that fix will last.. the cost isn't bad, but this has been so frustrating for a stupid thing because Ford had to be cheap skate c***s in how they made it to begin with

@@coverlaymfg update, the upholstery shop said that they didn't feel comfortable doing my door panels because they weren't sure that their work would hold up over time, so I plan on ordering these. My interior is currently black but I might go with a different color I have a black interior, blue exterior (vista blue metallic) so I'm thinking about either going with black, blue, or a gray/matte silver if you have a color that matches the door handles.. as far as color goes what do you think?

@@jeffreypittman5221 to bad whoever designed your website saw fit to put a black background with black fonts. I'd think that was web design 101, make what you're saying legible.

    whats absolutely infuriating
is ford made mustang doors without the hideous fabric at all
i threw my entire panels away in the garbage where they belonged and replaced with some that lack the terrible design flaw

Yes, this is a major flaw in the design of the original panels. Many customers pay alot of money to have their door panel inserts re-upholstered only to have the same issue happen again a few months later. Our permanent door insert replacements are made out of a highly durable ABS material which will last a lifetime.

      @@coverlaymfg its the adhesive

@@jonniefast I see you were joking, but just thought it worth mentioning, with the install of the Coverlay® door inserts, use the silicone adhesive we provide.🙂

@@coverlaymfg wasnt joking before throwing away the entire panel - flex seal held the longest
i have extreme weather here though gets over 110 degrees in the summers and below freezing in the winters - normal silicone didnt hold for me 😇

Is this rubber vinyl or plastic vinyl?

    • @coverlaymfg

It is made out of ABS thermo plastic. It is "hard" plastic.
