- I can't quite believe it, but I have owned my 1986 Citroen 2CV6 Dolly for 20 years TODAY! My life has changed so many times, in so many ways, but that little red and white 2CV has been there as a reassuring constant. Here's to more adventures!

She deserves to be looked after for the next 20 years at least. Simple engineering, you can’t beat it.
Diesel Bushcraft surely the point of simple engineering is that - you can beat it!
Happy times and travels to you both
I watched this with a slight tear in my eye, I completely understand the emotional attachment to Elly - we petrol heads have a keen love for our cars which non-car people simply do not understand and never will. Such a good video Ian and a fascinating insight to the story of this wonderful little car 😍
Your enthusiasm and affection for that little car is infectious. May you have many more trouble free (?) years together!
this is just lovely, heres to many more years with Elly.
Lovely to hear about Bob, Ian. He sounds like a great friend and we all owe him a debt for shaping your passion, and in turn, feeding ours.
When your old and your legs hurt, Twc will get a special video like this,
I love your 2cv. Many years ago I read a comment by a motoring journalist who described 2cv as a “grand prix lawn mower”. I think you would appreciate that remark. Pete 🇬🇧
Happy 20th anniversary Ian and Elly. I bumped in to your lovely fried miss I Drive A Classic at my local filling station in West yorkshire, I spoke to her and what a lovely happy woman to talk to she was in her Morris Marina good times!
Elly is a bit like triggers broom ?
Only the glass is original 😯
Here's to the next twenty 🍺
In America, the familiar reference is to George Washington's axe (of cherry tree fame): "The handle's been replaced 3 times and the head twice...but it's the *same* axe!"
The ‘Ship of Theseus’ paradox!
but elly didn't get a medal
Congats on 20 years with Elly.
It's so much fun just watching the ride alongs,I can imagine how much fun she is to drive.
Happy Elliversary here’s to many more miles, journeys and above all fun. 🥰
Great little cars watched lots of restorations on those cars and ellie still looks great thanks to hub nut and his bodgery!!!!!!STAY SAFE IAN AND FAMILY 😃😃😃😃😃😃🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Wonderful stuff, I'm also amazed when I look back and see how life twists and turns. Happy Elliversary mate ! xx
It’s also 20 years in October since I bought my first car, (Mini) bought it before I could even drive, learned to drive in it along with a proper instructor in a horrid Peugeot 106, then passed my test and went everywhere in. It got parked up needing the usual Mini issues sorted, (read: rust!), sadly after being fully restored and upgraded in 2012, it’s only done a few thousand miles since. It’s getting a minor overhaul right now ready for October when I’m going to celebrate with a little road trip somewhere. The thought of selling it has crossed my mind a few times but then I sit in it or drive it and I know it’s a keeper! Cracking video as ever Mr Hubnut, here’s to another 20 years eh! 😆
...a "Minor overhaul" on a Mini...or a "Mini overhaul" on, uh, well...
Def the most characterful and charming car in the fleet, esp enjoyed european road trip last year, you and elly were superb.
Thanks Ian, great video.
Nostalgia is a powerful thing, really enjoyed watching this and Happy Elliversary, looking forward to many more adventures, all the best to you and the family ( inc the cars ).
A proper feel good video. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Congratulations on your 20 years together. Been watching your channel for years. Great stuff and hopefully many more road trips to come 👍👍.
Happy anniversary! I've owned my first car a Panda since about 2000. Long since sat in a lockup.
In 1995 I bought a mot fail 2cv first registered in 86. I made a new chassis and converted to 3 wheel, new aluminium body. still in Dolly red and white. Still got it, been on the road for 23 years still enjoying it. Video's of build and runs on RUclips .
I have been watching several of your videos lately, all very good!! Congratulations on owning Elly for 20 years and I wish you many, many more years of enjoyment with Elly and your other vehicles! Best wishes and good health to you and your wife!!
Well done Elli and Ian, loved your Croatia trip and I’ve been following you ever since, here’s to another 20 years 🍻
What a wonderfully touching video and a lovely story! Here's to the many more years to come. Happy Elliversary
Congratulations Ellie and Ian. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures and look forward to 20 more years of fun. I remember keeping the peddle hard down in a smiley face Transit and managing 82 mph, but in Ellie it must be unbelievable. Thanks to Bob, God rest him and thanks to Citroën for keeping the model on sale so long. The hoon in the mountains on the Croatia Run was perfection and Ellie's very own commentary was the icing on top. Forget turbos, anticipation is the only way to fly.
Great story and bring in the next 20 years , thanks for sharing. Ian
Happy ellieversary, it's great we're here to see this Ian 👌
A fitting tribute to two decades of adventures with Ellie. Thank you for sharing the moment with us. Here’s to the next 20!
Hearty congratulations!! Here's to the next 20 years!!
Excellent! 👏👏👏👏 it’s been fifteen years for me and my beetle, the longest I’ve ever owned any vehicle. Keep her going.
Happy 20 years Elly !! Many more adventures ahead 👏👏👏
I really enjoyed this step back through time, Elly really means lot to you & the video shows it. A lovely memorial to people and times past.
Thanks for sharing this Elliversary video and including the history. Really great stuff! Emotional involvement adds value to our experiences. Here's to many more years of adventures.
This is the best one yet, thank you very much for the great video.
A most happy Elliversary to you and that lovely little car. I swear that you could almost see / feel Elly smile back at you as you smiled during your escapades. With everything you've done for her and she has done for you, I do believe that 2CV is the automotive translation of l'amour vrai. May you and Elly have many more years and adventures together.
WOOHOO!
What a great story between you and Elly. Happy birthday to her and many more years to come together 🙂🙂
I'm wanting a 2cv after watching your 2cv videos. The minimalism and lack of unnecessary computers is most appealing.
Aww I was looking forward to watching the drive home,, happy anniversary Elle and Ian
Very Nice video. Love the fact that you have stayed with her all this time. Carry On!
Here's to the next twenty years - I really enjoyed that walk through your personal story.
What a lovely and sad story, thank you for sharing. I so miss my 2cvs! I need to get one again when I can save enough money. Ellie is so adorable!
Happy Elliversary. More great adventures to come I'm sure.
History on four wheels. Congratulations 🥳, but there’s always a but, and you look happier than we have seen you in a long time. So well done Sir, its jobs a good un.👍 Tam.
What an entertaining heartwarming video. Thanks Ian. Pete 🇬🇧
Quite emotional actually, seeing how many adventures you've had with Elly and how much time, energy and effort has went into her. Proper car guys story - love it. Long live Elly!
Thank you Mr HubNut for sharing your memories of ELLY.. I raise my cup of tea.. to another 20 years!🧡

That little car had your Heart from the start happy Anniversary and many more 😁😁😁
What a great compilation video Ian!
Congrats on the 20 years with you and Elly!
Here's to another 20 years!
Loved this video, thank you for sharing. I dont have a 2CV at the moment, but had a number in years gone by. My first was bought from Two Horse Stables in Keighley back in the '80's. Good times ❤
What a very special and delightful surprise! Thank you!
Well what can I say but Happy Anniversary to both Ian & Elly. Here's to many more traveling adventures.😃🎈🎈🎈
Brilliant video Ian very informative of were you got Elly enjoyable as usual
Congrats on the first 20 years, and 219,000 miles! Here's to the next 20! The two of you have been on quite the adventures; looking forward to future ones!
Very glad to hear you come to Switzerland next year! 🤗
You can't have so many mad adventures in a car and not get attached to it! Legendary car, legendary driver.
I've just finished watching the 2CV to Croatia trip yesterday, the engine change and the massive restoration I finished watching before that. It was very very entertaining and looked great fun. Enjoy the next 20 years.
Brilliant video, Ian, I like the going to places that bring back memories. I do that occasionally. All part of getting life in some kind of order and with markers put down.
Congratulations for owning this nice little car 20 years. Nice emotional video that this car deserves really. All of them must be saved. Unfortunately I never owned one, but those days one of my friends took me often in his 2CV somewhere.
Best video for along time ,thanks very much !
Happy 20th anniversary! I hope you continue driving your 2cv!!!
Good show, such a quaint story and many ups and downs along the way. I can see why you will never let Ellie go
Cheers for that. Absolutely fascinating!
Happy Anniversary guys! Good old Elly, the REAL star of Hub Nut!
Congratulations to you and Elly, long may it continue. She may be stubborn at times but you love her and that's what counts.
Happy Elliversary! I hope you have many more adventures with Elly. This, and all your videos are a great inspiration. I have just taken my first car off the road after nearly 10 years of ownership to embark on my first restoration project. Wish me luck!
This really resonated with me - lovely video. Adored the 'hoon' through Wales!
Bob was a good guy - quite the mentor - we must cherish our time with these folk.
Happy 20th Elly and Ian! Great video for a Saturday morning.
Great video and all the very best for the next 20 years Ian.
I love your enthusiasm and appreciate your experience. I have always loved these little cars and once (50 years ago) rode down the Peloponnesus in a Dyane while hitchhiking in Greece. Now I’d like to buy one but pickings here in the US are slim and pricy. I enjoy minor mechanical and problem solving so getting one with a few needs is my goal. Thank you for posting these informative vids.
Awesome 😎 great journey. Here’s to another 20 years
Happy Anniversary to you both Ian. Great video's, keep 'em coming. In October I've had mine 34 years.
Still as good as the first day..October1986. Keep on rollin'.
Lovely story. Enjoyed watching it 😊
Lovely video! Best wishes for another 20 years. Happy Elliversary :)
A heart warming and and intriguing look back at her history long before my subscription, a fascinating and amusing compilation of images and footage. I had to have a second giggle at the airborne moment, that would have looked spectacular had it been filmed externally!
Happy Elliversary Mr. S!
Very enjoyable retrospective video Ian, congratulations on the Ellieversary.
Fantastic. Thank you for the recap.
Modern Mercedes also have that extreme camber on lock, it's less noticeable on modern ones though as the wheels are that much wider. It's why Mercedes have such high tyre wear in the outside shoulder.
Happy birthday Elly!!! Loving the adventures - last year was indeed epic! I look forward to seeing next year's World Meeting of 2CV friends! 👍👍👍👍
That front end geometry was developed by Austin for the original design of the London Taxi Cab. It adds gain to the wheel lock for a tighter turning circle, which was the only way Austin was able to meet the requirements set down for a London Taxi. The Volvo 140 and 240 do the same which is how the manage a 32 foot turning circle out of what is, by European standards, a large car.
What a great video . It is just brilliant and has made my week !!!!
Absolutely fantastic... here’s to another 20 years!🍻
after a good works clearing more blasted bamvoo from the garden its nice to come on in and see a hubnut video on a snail that he's had for 20 years,
Great video! I think it’s one of your best yet 😄 So nice to see that you have such a strong bond with your car.
I have learned 2 things from this video: 1. A 2CV flat out sounds like a Kenwood Chef with an outboard motor; and 2. There are 6 O's in Ptschoooooo.
Congratulations Ian and Ellie for reaching this milestone.
Looking forward to her next twenty years of adventures..... Nice to see my old commute in my hometown, which, the more I see videos like this, the more I miss. Keep up the brilliant adventures, congratulations from a Fellow nut
Congrats Elly and Ian, to another 20 years!!!
It'll be the 20th Anniversary for me and my 2CV on April 16th 2022. I've also taken it round the clock twice. She was sitting as 70,000 miles when bought, and now stands at 271,000 odd miles. New barrels and pistons fitted at 250,000.
Thanks for that. The video you shot of Elly along that road in Slovenia saw me riding my motorbike along the same road because of it. Was spectacular, so thank you both!
Excellent!
A happy car and owner, may the adventures continue.
The contrast between Ellie and Betty must be considerable. T - shirts of both serve as momentos. The attention and love for this 2cv Dolly verges on the obsessive. Very heartening. Very HubNut...
A fitting tribute to elly I was tearful
2 years watching your videos
Looking forward towards the next 20 years 👍👍👍👍
20 years.
Bet you're stoked.
Thank you for:
Another great video. (With great scenery and humour)
Sharing your passion for a great car.
Sorry to hear about your friend.
Since losing (another of) my friends my car we had plans for has been laid up due to my enthusiasm having waned.
Hi Ian congratulations on your ellyversary what a brilliant video you are both proper legends, I have had to comment because I can't believe our lives have slightly intertwined a little bit in the fact that the queensway, sellyoak and kings heath were an intrinsical part of my life too. I used to commute through the queensway to Eddington I worked at clearlight electrical on kings heath high street right at the bottom by Valentine rd and I used to go to the old vespa garage opposite your friend bobs garage near the bridge you showed going over the Bristol rd ! You have brought back so many memories for me thank you so much for that Ian . I am now living in sleepy Yeovil so to see some of my old haunts was such a surprise for me .. and to top it all I was on holiday camping two weeks ago at Newquay near where your based ! I did look out for you but alas didn't see you about
Enjoyed that Ian. Many thanks 🙂👍🏻
As Ford used to say about I think the Sierra:. Man and machine in perfect harmony. A heartwarming story Ian. Here's to the next 20!
Happy Birthday ! 20 år Jubileum!
Congratulations on 20 years of ownership of Elly de 2CV. May there be many beautiful adventures to come!
Had an 85 Charleston purple and black. Actually it was good a good and fun car. The values of 2cvs is very high. Those driving noises bring back memories. Keep these vids coming. Great fun and nothing fazes you, totally chilled....
Great drive down memory lane...nice for you to share your memories...you remind me of the great John Peel..😁
Every morning I had to check the tyres and fill up air. Also It had lot of carburetor problems Great photography thanks.
Fantastic video. A video we all should have in one way or another.
