- Yeah, this video didn't go to plan for several reasons! Sound issues with a new set-up, grease gun failure but on the positive side, I did actually fix the gear linkage and went for a nice drive. Miss HubNut joined the fun and tidied up my mess. I've no idea why she puts up with me.

You and miss hubnut, together in a garage, what could possibly go wrong, 😂😂👍
So Elly’s bonnet is now TWC’s hat... I would name said bonnet “Nelly.” As in, “Nelly the Elly Front.” (Cue music. Sorry if too obscure.)
A very Bonnie Bonnet indeed for a Wee Ice Blue Superstar.
Miss Hubnut comes to rescue by magically making the Unit twice as big while Mini Miss Hubnut is the salvation of the whole Ellie Escapade with the magical creation of the Magnum Opus of T Shirting. Mr Hubnut drops clip into oil catchcan, breaks grease gun and has a magical test drive to himself, having safely returned his Beloved Ratchet to its drawer.
I couldn't help but giggle 🤭 throughout this video! It certainly made my day! And Elly sounds in fine fettle! Gorgeous country! And we are once again warming up after a few very cool days. Glad you both are enjoying the sunshine ☀!
"Thats not meant too happen !" You got too put that on some of your merchandise Ian , i would buy it .
Brilliant , you learn stuff on here and you have a chuckle too . Welcome too the world of Hubnut , should be on T.V. honestly fun program . Thankyou, all ways cheers me up .
Sun, shirt and 2 CV seems like paradise.
Great videos. I have just inherited two oldies from my late friend : Citroen 2CV and Renault 4. These videos really help me a lot and I learn a lot. Thank you.
What a delightful video. Thank you both for a nice gentle lunchtime.
The new variety that this channel has taken on since the arrival of Miss Hubnut is a really pleasant surprise, you never know who we're going to see in the videos now, so it's always a nice surprise when they pop up and provide some organisation to proceedings, haha!
This was a very HubNut kind of engine service, it’s great to see Miss Hubnut featuring in videos again!!.
I keep on re-watching the video from 21:04 on. That singing of the 2CV engine brings back good memories, I love the induction noise when the carburettor's second choke is opened. A car that gives joy to both the driver and people seeing the car drive. Good times.
That was a totally charming video - well done! I look forward to the next one.
Very fun and enjoyable video, nothing quite like a 2cv Ellie’s engine sounds lovely.
Cheered me up no end tonight... never change, your mechanical skills are on a par with mine.
I changed my gear linkage and your right it make's so much difference, you really do have to re-learn.
What a fun video; the two of you work so well together! And chock full o' innuendos, too, not to mention what one can do w/ a didjeridu, a bass amp, and a blow-up mattress in a storage shed. The tie dye t-shirts take me back (I still have a few in my collection); next try Batik!
Ian, so good to see a bit of sun and you so happy with the roof back in Elly
Wow man love the shirts takes me back to school days 68/79 we did marble method lol ...... mrs hubnut helps during many a carry on .... getting better Ian ..... wished i had a 2cv .....
Really great to see Ellie up and about. She is such a neat, nifty little work horse.
Great to see Miss Hubnut again, too
Just got the the t-shirt part. Wow. I had to turn the colour down on my tv. Hugely hypnotic patterns. :)
Welcome to hub nut spring break lovely tie dyes
I believe you are the best manifold player I ever heard. And the only one. I have sent this video on to the London Philharmonic Orchestra, I believe no classical piece is complete without a manifold.
Best regards to the missus! You two are an adorable couple.
Love the shirts and nice to hear some waffle from Miss HubNut 👍
New t-shirt idea..... Waffle with HubNut with a caricature of yourself.
Listening to Miss Hubnut at 8:21 I can't help but feel that before long it'll be Miss Hubnut doing the spannering (but properly!) and you making the tea... another "back to form" video, most enjoyable. I'm surprised nothing holds the bonnet laterally, but I don't suppose it needs it? At least, despite the mic issues, the levels weren't dipping up and down.
Love the t-shirts. Would love to hear some miss HubNut poetry
That was a good tip about not going too fast with the roof partially open. A friend of mine had the entire thing fly off, only to be run over by a following HGV.
What a pleasure it is to watch you tinkering tremendous 👍
Well what a groovy video complete with the TY Die T Shirts. It is nice to see you both working on separate jobs in the workshop. I do agree that Tuc suited the 2 CV hat, but it is good that Elly is now back together again.
Hub Nut back at is best, love it made me smile.
Hair or no hair, definitely hippie!
@Leonel Gianni desperate for attention are you?
Cup of tea just brewed and notification comes through for Hubnut #goodtimes
New t shirts for the Hubnut shop??
Greasing can still be a nightmare even with Air Powered Greasers etc. Used to hate the job when I was a Hgv mechanic. An ERF EC Tractor unit had over 30 grease points, there was always some blocked etc, by far the most messy part of doing the job.
I"m back in the Sixty's when Flower Power was hot, and they where tinkering on Cars like these. I only missed the Flowers in Miss Hubnut hair, and she said that she could Sing. Next Time sing for us Dear Lady please!!!! 🐨👩🔧
Great video lan do like the 2cv and for the grease gun in the bin lol
In good spirits today. What a lovely day for a drive
Good to see you back firing on all cylinders Ian after your little blip not long back... health and happiness to you and your family
Took Whisky’s door lock out at the weekend. Can be quite straight forward once you’ve worked out how it should be done. First remove the three Torx head screws. Then unscrew and remove the inside handle, this is connected to the lock via a cable. Other connections are three rods. Roll out a green plastic piece on one and it just pulls out. Other two got me flummoxed. Thought I needed more room to angle it, so removed the window guide rail. Without electricity, this could have been tricky, but nuts on the glass lined up with holes in door frame. With that off, the lock still wasn’t revelling the secret of getting the rods out straight away. Then finally found that you turn the whole thing 90 degrees and then turn one rod 90 degrees back and it just pulls out.
Great video great team
I really have got to like 2CVs more and more since I discovered hub nut
Miss Hubnut is awesome
Caught you going topless in today's brilliant weather. In Elly of course.
Sorry to miss you. What gorgeous weather at last! Already seems to have vanished...
Another wonderful video from the hubnuts!
That manifold blast has now attracted the attention of any sasquatch during their mating season!
The hippies are back! Colorful t-shirts. Fits completely with Elly!
Hey, at least when you drop a bolt in your 2cv you have space to reach for it and find it ..i dropped a bolt to my positive terminal in the front of my Smart Fortwo 453 and it took me a solid half hour to try to get it out of space smaller than my hand lol
HubNut, always giving! I showed Mrs. Shed the shade of red you turned while playing the manifold. Apparently, that's what colour our hallway is going to be!
You'll have to take a picture of Mr. HubNut in order to properly get the color matched at the paint store!
I think a dab of silicone based grease applied to the pivot pins inside the shifter linkage rubbers will help extend the life of the rubbers and keep things shifting smoothly.
Definitely yep. :-)
When you started about tie-dye, I was at that moment looking at Elly's headlights and its top securing clips, and thought: 'Yeah, right, that's exactly it: a tied eye!'
I enjoyed learning how to build up the front of the 2CV. If Elly was a Mini instead, there would be a lot of welding, fire, and swearing involved. @21:04-on - Elly sounds so sweet. She does go well.
Chaos is abound ;) the tie-dye is chaotic too :)
Elly makes me smile even riding along by video.
You are so lucky if I asked my wife to tidy up the garage she got a big skip outside and everything will be in it LOL
Thank goodness Miss Hubnut joined the fun and brought a bit of decorum to the proceedings. I'm becoming a big fan of Miss Hubnut and am beginning to think she should have her own channel (on condition she wears her hair down!)
So glad you like your tool Ian, it's very much a man thing. How lovely to see the adorable Miss Hubnut not dressed like Scott of the Antarctic! I often think in the middle of one of your videos she will suddenly leave saying, "I'm going outside, I may be some time." Bless you both, lovely, funny, tinkering video. If you need to try them, I have a 2004 facelift diesel Freelander with BMW engine, a Hyundai Matric 1.6. a Saab 90 Sport, and one reliable 2016 Mini Cooper Countryman. Yours if required at any time, 2 miles over the North Wales border. Wales, mmmmm, lockdown lifting.
Cheers. Please email ian@hubnut.org
Those of us with innuendo inclined minds always plead innocence when we haven't said oooer missus! 😂
The T-shirt will be a great success! Just right for Harry Metcalfe👌
Lovely ramshackle video! Whooo.
Those 2cv cars astound me. I’ve never looked closely at one. They really are the most simple of mechanical beings, wow. 👍🇬🇧🏴
she even sounds happy!
Very good
You could build that other 2CV up from bits with the Hublets in the summer. Might need to get rid of some other stuff though; Olcit and Sana? The sale of the GSA would create 2CV resurrection funds too. Just a thought.
Loved the video really made me laugh 🤣🤣🤣
If the HubNut workshop gets a good sort out I will be amazed even with Miss HubNuts help.
Watching this with sun glasses as those shirts are brighter that the sun
Howdy Ian! Like the new Mrs. Hubnut, she's a hoot! It's great that she like to work on your cars with you!
I remember doing Tie Dye at school, think it was T shirts had to ask my mum for a white blank T shirt. Used several balls to get different results.
I did it at some kind of youth camp. I absolutely loved that T shirt! The dye washed out fairly quickly though. It wasn't quite as colourful as these to begin with, pale yellow and some purplish blue.
Ian I don't know you from Adam but seriously you sound so much more chill and comfortable these days it's awesome! I just washed our car in the dark because all relevant beings were in bed. Good times...
Yep, I agree. He seems very contended these days. Long may it continue. Miss Hubnut jollies him along.
Can’t beat a bit of HubNut waffle👌
Great vid, Ian. Remember: Random is good. Thank you!
Often the problem with grease nipples is the fitting itself. You should buy a box of replacements of various threads
nipples can be a problem
@@philiphutchinson4210 you know what they say about these or tyres is going to give you trouble.
I learned to drive in a '73 Dyane.... UPP621L if I recall.... as well as that shonky gear linkage (very tired) it had a rod throttle arrangement.... the engine mounts were horribly worn, and as the engine rotated backwards under acceleration, the throttle would shut, ending acceleration, so the engine would rock forwards, opening the throttle and the whole cycle would continue..... Once we'd put new engine mounts in, that problem went away, and then the plastic ball joint on the carb started randomly popping off, most notably trying to pass a bus at a bus stop, uphill!
Taxed until 1987, not a bad innings.
Ms Hubnut is really fit😉
Great video ian you and miss hubnut make a great team nice t shirts btw👍👍
A Tie Dye Elly the 2cv T shirt is a must for the HubNut store, surely.
Hi Ian I think you're video's are great but do love the video's with u2 thank you take care 😊👍🏻
Shirts and teamwork 👍
I find grease guns with flexible hoses difficult to centre on the grease nipple. So you are not the only one who struggles with them Ian.
I enjoy watching you 2 flap around with ya citreon we have a C5 DIESEL EST 53 YEAR BUT ITS HIGHER SPEC THAN YOURS I THINK OURS IS THE EXCLUSIVE
I love the T shirts, a cottage industry right there
They are very gay. I mean the old meaning. 😬
I love the Eistioffod ( i know its spelt wrong i can't say it correctly either) but its a fantastic event worth going to
Tye Dye. Haven’t seen this side of my student years !!!! 96-99
You two make me smile. You give me happiness watching your videos.
Another task done ✔ no more road tests in rovers 🤓😉👍
Tune in next week when Ian plays the Accordion, made from a cardboard box and used air filters.
When I compare what is required to remove the fenders from my Desoto with the ease with which you remove fenders from the 2CV I am a bit envious. On the other hand, in a collision between me and a deer, I win. Not so sure about a 2CV and a deer.
All mildly chaotic fun!
Not too much organising I hope, we don't want to lose that Hubnutness!
An emotive solo on the didgeridon't. :)
The proper way; jacking the car up before greasing the kingpins! 👍
Great t shirts bees n wasps will love u lol
"Well, that's another fine mess you've got me to clear up. AGAIN!" - Anyone else pick-up on the Laurel & Hardy reference there?
...only thing missing would be the 2CV falling to pieces when one of them slams a door shut, like so many of L. and H.'s Model Ts!
Lovely to see Miss H!
I remember my Aunt and Uncle owned a 2CV back in the 1980s
I do wonder if they were waving cos of the two tie-dye hippies tootling about in a 2CV, just add some long hair and flower in said hair and that's the petrol-headed hippie back again... :P
...that, and cue Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild"...
When nothing is Going the way it Should.
Revert to the 'Cup of Tea..!'
A British Cure All ( and it's Commonwealth, obviously.!)
Cheers from a Pommie in Oz.😎
Wonderful video as per usual, its that dam Manifold horn that you blew it caused a rumbling sound in my back Bedroom closely followed by 14 rampaging vikings that burst out of my clothes wardrobe that i bought from Ikea just a day ago. on a lighter note can you please do a one off video just like this one but can you insert in the top right a double entendre counter that counts up with a ding noise love the channel keep up the good work. from Kelvin in south Wales UK
All three of you have improved gear.
"and for my next trick I'll play the kazoo and swanee whistle at the same time while me misses sings along adjusting my gear shifter".... Entertaining video... :)
Kazoo and Swanee whistle at the same time? I'm sorry, I haven't a clue what you're implying.
Those T-shirt’s remind me of the Stargate sequence in Kubricks 2001: A Space Odyssey...and that’s a good thing😎
If you scrapped the matiz you could jack elly up a lot easier and save money on paint sorted 🤙👌👌
