Elly is definitely the foundation of HubNut. Everything about a 2CV encapsulates the joy of driving for us true petrolheads. See you at the show! I’m heading down on Saturday as my friend has his lovely 156 V6 on the Alfa stand
Few things are better than driving a freshly MOT'd car, having the full faith restored again is brilliant. I really do love Elly, the channel just wouldn't be the same without her. Congratulations Ian, you have your favourite back, lets see what she needs to be spot on again, I for one would donate to the cause.
Whatever size her engine is, it's lovely to see Ellie back where she belongs, rolling and weaving around Welsh country lanes. Not to mention how happy Ian sounds to be back behind the wheel.
Best thing about this video was seeing how happy this car makes you feel. Elly definitely deserves some love and attention once the Diahatsu is sorted. 👍
A most welcome update on a wonderful car. Thanks very much, also for the snappy fleet update. Glad that Elly is back on the road again, and that you can have more happy times with her.
About finding an MOT station that understands classics. A mate of Mike bought a very nice silver alfasud during lockdown. Took it for an MOT at his normal place and they failed it on the handbrake not working at all. He took it away and did a few tests on steep hills and was fine. He took it back for a retest and he waited in the viewing bay.... To see them shaking theirs heads while yanking ok the handbrake... With the back wheels on the rollers.........
I could listen to that induction roar all day! Just a camera pointed at the windscreen, enjoying all the noises, rattles n squeaks of a peppy french semicircle on wheels!
Glad to see that smile Ian ,glad my support helps keep the best channel going , keeping such enertainment on my phone whilst away from home in my eight wheeler on these longer nights . Great to see you and mrs hubnut tinkering away ,Neil
Great video Ian, like you say, it's what it's all about where you have a car you can actually drive, and it always brings a smile to your face, instead of some pristine perfect example that just gets trailered everywhere a few times a year.
I think go with the old "power less is more", rebuild a standard 602,but have someone like sparrow tune it up as he has done with "daisy", that way if you decide to go 652 atleast you have a decent sorted 602 as a base. I absolutely love the sound Elly is making now, her heart is singing
Oh what a heart warming video, that sound of a heathy engine in Elle is wonderful and congratulations to her for passing her MOT with the HubNutters help. It really is great to see her back on the open road enjoying the Autumn sun. It's almost time to order some more merch as well, my first purchase was delivered by Elle to the post office with others delivered by Betty and Bella if I recall. There is a slight chance I'll be able to make the show at the NEC so if I do I'll pop in and say hello. It's always sad to see a car go to reclamation but the Olcit was only purchased for spares anyway given the poor state of things so hopefully she will be able to donate her organs so that other Olcits may live on.
The car salesman drove the 2cv to Stirling I drove it to Stirling to Perth to collect a other car and my other colleague drove the 2cv from Perth to Aberdeen happy memories and I still work for that company where have all those years gone greetings from Scotland thanks 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Fantastic news on the MOT, and glad you’re finally “closed” on the “Oltcit” Chapter - it’s a wonder you had time to offer commentary running those lanes after the MOT, I know what they’re like and concentration IS required - having said that, we could all see you were having an absolute blast, and your beautiful 2CV was not only saying “thank-you”, but she appeared to be in her “ELLY-ment!” Keep ‘em comin’ JCHK
Ian this is what ive been waiting for , i can see miss Hubnut , the Hublets on vacation in France this summer [well next year] , 2cv Elly screaming away as you explore the country, glad the MOT was ok and glad you had a workshop clear out , it makes sense, Happy times, psssshhhhhhh...🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙
Catching up on the content Ian as I've been helping my F-I-L out on his various old cars. Will have him in tow on Friday at the NEC. Always a pleasure to see Elly and a pleasure to help support you and the HubNut family 🥰
Well done Ian so pleased to see Elly back on the road and the look on your face was great can see how you missed her I would say 602 if you are happy with it or with the hills over that way have the extra power! Unless you have a 302 v8 hanging around lol 😂
Really enjoyed the hoon Ian. Thanks for using the term Traipsing. My dad used to use that one. As I was watching I was thinking I'm going to have to self ptschoo this one! Mart.
Your joy in Ellie's revitalization is infectious! And then you pose the great existential 2CV question -- is less really more? Or maybe it's "How much less is still more?" Whatever, it is wonderful to behold.
Ah the flat twin 652. My aunt had a Visa with that engine in the late 90's. In the heavier Visa, it barely managed 90kph on the flat Dutch roads. She traded it in for a poverty spec 1.1 litre Peugeot 205.
Farewell little Ostriches 😭! Ah, well. At least you've gotten LOTS of new parking space now 🚗👍. Just be aware that the car(s) that end up in the back of a Garage tend to lay down Roots. Gotta keep them running and get those Fluids circulationing.....
Great to see Elly back. If I hear a 2CV when I am out I just stop to listen - if I see one coming the other way its mute the radio and window down. There used to be quite a few cars that were distinctive like that - mostly aircooled. Think most VW's a FIAT 126 and that fantastic PARP! on the overrun of a Minor. Its all so anodyne these days.
"They were never immaculate back in the day." That bothers me each time I watch a recently made period movie. All cars are somewhat of the year (no 20+ years old banger), all cars are spotless and all are top of their range.
I have missed that sound. Good to have her MOTed again. I hope the exhaust that i read you all of a sudden needed, have gotten there/wll get there in time.
This channel feels like the Elly channel to me as that's how I came across your output years ago!! The rest of the fleet are fun and all but there's something about a 2cv that just makes things more.... More!!! And has kept me coming back! Btw that 602 sounds sweet. I imagine that IT running healthily is probably as strong as the 652 running poorly!? Maybe no 85mph runs in the loaner!! But more "refinement" if that word can be reasonably applied to a 2cv 👍😉
Best of both worlds Ian, you've got a great engine and Ellie is back on the road, and you've got some time to ponder more power !? I think if you can get more power in an engine that is in as good nick as the one you have now then that's the way you should go..
Congratulations Ian. It is Fantastic news that Elly is back on the road once more. It great to see you enjoying life once more in your Favourite Car on the Hubnut Fleet.
Good to see Ellie back on the road. re Stainless Steel exhaust ...I put one on my {then brand new} 1988 2CV Spesh ....its still on, but the crossbox {which was unavailable at the time} needs replacing from time to time. re Engine upgrades ...a set of 9:1 pistons was an improvement to my otherwise standard engine.
I'm reminded how much I enjoyed driving my Citroen Ami 8 Estate - same small air-cooled engine, same wonderful engine sounds, same tenacious grip, same body roll, same fun.
Love the hooning around on Welsh country roads. Always loved hooning cars on the roads in West Wales between haverfordwest and broad haven. None of the cars ever really fast or powerful it's just fun. The best was a 1982 1.0 VW polo breadvan when it was 18 years old ( so was I at the time) and it was just hilarious
I think you're going to have huge laughs with Ellie whether or not you go for extra power. Great to see her on the road again!
Elly is definitely the foundation of HubNut. Everything about a 2CV encapsulates the joy of driving for us true petrolheads. See you at the show! I’m heading down on Saturday as my friend has his lovely 156 V6 on the Alfa stand

That feeling of being back in a car you really love to drive, for the first time in a long time. Makes a fellow car enthusiast smile.
Respect to you and Ellie. Filling your tank, on the way to an MOT suggests total confidence.
Whatever size her engine is, it's lovely to see Ellie back where she belongs, rolling and weaving around Welsh country lanes. Not to mention how happy Ian sounds to be back behind the wheel.
I can't even drive but totally enjoy the pure joy a 2CV brings!
Best thing about this video was seeing how happy this car makes you feel. Elly definitely deserves some love and attention once the Diahatsu is sorted. 👍
2CV's aren't conventional but iconic and just put a huge smile on your face. They should be prescribed on the NHS.
I second that. It is an anti-depressant not only for the driver:-)
Simple things that work reliably are an antidepressant.
I have to agree, a simple and soothing drive where cares just float away, I could certainly benefit from one. If only I had the storage space.
Something magical about that engine note. And the lean in the corners.
So basic but in a good way. 👍
Owned two. Noisy, joyful,times
You may think i'm kidding if i won the lottery in my dream car garage would be a 2CV. So much character, just an awesome looking little car.
Elly brought me to your channel.... quite a few years ago... Proud HubNut sticker holder from Czechia (on my 2cv)
A most welcome update on a wonderful car. Thanks very much, also for the snappy fleet update. Glad that Elly is back on the road again, and that you can have more happy times with her.
I can almost feel that big happy smile on your face from here!
Great to see Elly out again!
Oh that makes me so miss having a manual transmission in a car. Good to see someone having fun driving.
This is what I would call a 'feel good' video. Great stuff Ian.
D27 WAL was mine - Wally I called him - he was definitely a him. Thanks for the memories.
Vicarious living, you happy/we happy.
absolutely fantastic to see elly driving about and the happiness she brings you and us all. good times.
Good to see Elly back on the road. Good riddance to bad rubbish with the Oltcits!
I wouldn't mind finding an Olcit Club pickup - they look interesting...
720 all the way! Speed and power is always the answer😊
Great to see Ellie back!
You looked like you were enjoying that so much you even overlooked the odd parked wiper situation 😂
It's so lovely to see how happy Elly makes you. I get that completely - I'm missing my convertible and the effect is the same. This video is a joy.

Elly is back
Happy for her and you!
An integral part of the channel
Hooray!
That sound is very nostalgic. Used to have a blue Dyane. Great car

Nice to see someone enjoying himself 😊
Ahh Ellie moving again so good to see.All the best to you all
Yay go Elly, never driven one but love the look and idea of 2cv’s.
My first car in 97-98 was a Bamboo 2CV. I miss that lovely sound.
Fantastic news on the MOT, and glad you’re finally “closed” on the “Oltcit” Chapter - it’s a wonder you had time to offer commentary running those lanes after the MOT, I know what they’re like and concentration IS required - having said that, we could all see you were having an absolute blast, and your beautiful 2CV was not only saying “thank-you”, but she appeared to be in her “ELLY-ment!”

I`ve never driven a 2CV, but I must say, seeing you give it some beans along that country road was quite alluring..

Good to see Ellie back. Shame that engine is only on loan! Perhaps a bit of negotiation for a similar modified unit might be well worth it.
Ellie back hope to see her at the nec 👍👍👍
What a fun little drive that looks! Can't beat Welsh roads!
Its wonderful to see and hear such joy. Congrats on getting her back on the road
Congrats on Getting Elley back on the Frog and Toad..!
Have fun..! 😎
She certainly sounds a lot sweeter on the recording. Many happy days!
Well done Ian so pleased to see Elly back on the road and the look on your face was great can see how you missed her I would say 602 if you are happy with it or with the hills over that way have the extra power! Unless you have a 302 v8 hanging around lol 😂
Good to see olcit gone. Great to see Elle sounding so good. Good on ya Mr. HubNut
You would be lost without Elle, couldn't help but see the smile on your face the whole time.🤣 Aussie Graham.
Congratulations Elly, nice to see you back on the road again.
another great video has always Ian and miss hubnut and hublets and hubmutts 👍
Really enjoyed the hoon Ian. Thanks for using the term Traipsing. My dad used to use that one. As I was watching I was thinking I'm going to have to self ptschoo this one! Mart.
That engine sounds great, hope to see it at the weekend!

Ellie sounds wonderful as she roars and sings her flat twin song

Oh, what a beautiful trip with Elly… 🌻🥰🌻
nice to see you back in the 2cv..!
What a lovely drive. I always enjoy your 2CV episodes!
What a happy chappy, well done!
I am glad Elly is back up and running again. I think we have also missed the 2CV hooning.
"There are no Oltcits in my unit".
Could be a line from the "Romanian Phrasebook".
"My Oltcit is full of eels."
Elly, the ultimate sports car for the Welsh roads! Glad she's mobile again.
It is great to see "Ellie" on the road once again.
I've had a few 2CVs over the years - they are lovely!
Ellie sounds like she should be. No clacking Glad to to see the smile on you face, the love of your life is back ,as is Miss Hubnut.
Love that car. Love it!
Ian you look so happy and excited in this video
"They were never immaculate back in the day." That bothers me each time I watch a recently made period movie. All cars are somewhat of the year (no 20+ years old banger), all cars are spotless and all are top of their range.
Ellie sounds fabulous with her new engine. Also great news on the MOT pass too. The feeling of having just passed an MOT is a joyous moment!
Yay! Well done Elly!
I have missed that sound. Good to have her MOTed again. I hope the exhaust that i read you all of a sudden needed, have gotten there/wll get there in time.
Reminds me of my wife's old beachcomber - bowled along lovely - Elly is running right !
Can't beat a bit of air-cooled motoring & health to enjoy 👍
Brilliant. Elly rides again. I really must have a shot of a 2CV some time. That ride, noise and view down the bonnet are splendid
Well done Ellie!
No one ever regrets more power
Nice sounding 602 from Pete Sparrow. Well done on the swop out job. You can't beat a sorted 602 in a 2CV - the sound is medicinal 😊
i'd leave it as it is since that engine sounds so nice
Sounds really good Ian, nice to see she's back..
You're making me miss my 205. We have a similar relationship but she's been off the road a while.
That really does sound good Ian 👍

And she’s back.🏴
Great to see Elly back out , top stuff, best wishes.
Victory hoon indeed! That was pur joy. I’ve said it many times, TWC and Elly are the essence and the heart of HubNut
Absolutely brilliant video Ian 👍what a remarkable little car she is an absolute beauty
There’s a real corner of disappointment there in your lock up 😅
Good to see Ellie back on the road.
re Stainless Steel exhaust ...I put one on my {then brand new} 1988 2CV Spesh ....its still on, but the crossbox {which was unavailable at the time} needs replacing from time to time.

food for thought. Consider swapping in a 1000cc 2V flat twin from an old BMW. More power and even better noises. ✌
She’s sounding good 👍🏻
Great to see you super happy. Engine is spritely.
That new engine sounds so much sweeter especially at a cruise than the last one.
Thanks!
Great work
My wife’s first car was a Visa, complete with baked bean tin switchgear, she loved it although it was very tinny.
