Auto Repair Guys hi, you said, you would link the clips, who needed to be pushed in. But I couldn‘t find them.

Pressure loss on screen washer. Great video.
Had to take out my Indicator to get mine out. Pressure was dropping when I had been trying to clear my windows. Pump was fine. Filter was clogged. Cleaned out the filter and the tank (old tooth brush on the filter and cleaned the tank out several times with boiling water and anti limescale cleaner). Saw on a few forums that this had been a recurring problem for some which led me to look at the filler hose. Ribbed hose seemed to be a magnet for gunge. Stripped it out easily enough (a couple of clips) and cleared it with a long radiator cleaner(big pipe cleaner that you can get from most DIY shops). It took several goes at either end to finally get the rinsing water to run clear. Popped an inspection camera down to check but you could do this with a torch and just straighten it out. This job took me over an hour as it was first attempt and didn't want to make a hash of it but I recon it'd take me about half that if I had to do it again.

I'll check that too, but after all them fasteners. Replacing a $10 pump seems a good idea. Thank for the heads up. Mine went the same way.

great video, very well explained, had to replace on 2008 e90 today after washer stopped working (the wipers won't work either and no warning lights), no shortcuts available just have to take the wheel off and plastic guard only way to replace.

You said you would put a link for the fender well cover clips/ retainer pins. Where is it?

Thanks. Just replaced that pump on my 2011 328i coupe, E92.
On mine, there were no pushpin clips. Basically 6 screws (8mm) and two nuts (10mm).
Note: if ur washer tank is full, you will get washer fluid flood out when you pull out the pump.
Note 2: the tank on mine is not as long as the one on his wagon.
Note 3: I had a difficult time removing the horizontal tube from the old pump. Had to pry it a bit like he did.
Note 5: I also changed the little filter that the pump sticks into.

Good morning from Athens - Greece. I have a 2006 BMW E90 316i with 90,000 km very well maintained. Thank you for your viewing. I replaced the pump with a new one but it doesn't work - it doesn't throw water. What do you think the problem is? Thank you.

  • @Tvillright
    @Tvillright 4 года назад +22

7:51 pretty sure you just snapped the filter on the end of the pump so it's stuck in there

Follow up. I had some wheel liner missing, so it went a small amount faster. Pump screen was clogged with slime. Cleaned screen and flushed out tank. Replaced pump anyway.

Hi there, I thought i dropped something in the reservoir however when i checked it nothing was there, i removed all the liquid and disconnected the plugs. Would that have damaged all the pumps?

Thanks guys, just replaced the failed pump on my E90 XI using this video. Mine did not have a leak so unfortunately, the reservoir emptied once I removed the hose. I can't seem to find the part number for the 3 pushpin clips. Appreciate any feedback if others can find it.

Stupidest design ever from BMW. On the e46 the windshield wiper pump was in the motor compartiment, accessibly by hand. 2 minutes of work and $11 for the pump.

My God how in the world this car maker BMW came to a huge prominence. I own 328i and after 5 years many many things are failing. Including this stupid little windshield water pump. What a freaking design by bmw one has to go through all this dismantling to reach to this little part. Folks I will never buy a bmw again. This is COMPLETE GARBAGE.
